I'm looking at a Semifinal major clash between LYD & LHJ vs. their current nemesis in MJ & ZB in the upper half; that'll be a not-to-miss match. And a big rematch from last yr's OG's Semifinals match between the defending WC champs, NW & LN vs. YY & HH, in the other half.

I would rate this event to be the 2nd most exciting one to follow, behind the MD.:cool:

Let me argue why ZB/MJ can not win the title in this event:

That's all about "Psychological weakness" of the team.

- ZB is actually weak in his internal psychological aspect; he has not shown his usual guts in Big events like Beijing Olympics or All England. (Remember he was usually blamed by Gao Ling during the games.)
- MJ is also too young and inexperienced player for the World Championship.

The first and strongest barrier against ZB/MJ is definitely LYD/LHJ who they have beaten many times in the first half of this year. Ironically, because they have beaten the strong KOR team, they will have "fear" for the next "defeat." Why? Actually, in the recent matches between them, ZB/MJ was almost losing to the KOR team before they came back, so they know very well that they can't still get the confidence against the team. ZB will be astonished as he finds LHJ well prepared in the defense against his strong consecutive smashes.

And even though they might barely beat the KOR team, they will have more chance to lose in the final due to the psychological problem embedded in them. (If they will face HHB/YY, I would bet for the latter team.)

You may be right with Gao Ling being the dominant partner and calling the shots. Poor ZB has to behave subservient to GL as the latter has won so many world accolades and respect and is a blue-eyed girl of LYB. God forbid ZB to try to 'shout' down GL.

But now with green-horn Ma, the role has been reversed. ZB is boss (unless LYB intervenes) and is now free to express his "cooped-up" emotions and take command. As such he will lead his "little army" to victory. Ma, being the follower fits in very well with the big brother intentions and the understanding glued better and better. Now the WC XD title is there for them to grab! :D:D

Don't worry george, LYD is young and has an abundance of energy. It's not him, it's his partners that you should be concerned about. In MD, JJS is still recovering from the rigidity of his army camp. IN XD, LHJ still cannot decide if she is that nervous debutant or the world class veteran.

LYD can only do so much. As you know doubles consists to 2 players, and one LYD is not enough.

The truth about the Danish pair is still that they are getting better as they grow older. I believe Thomas Laybourn is turning 32 end of September :eek: But, from the match he played yesterday, he looked like he's only 26-27.

More surprisingly, he's OLDER than Nova Widianto by 1 mth, but, from yesterday's match, it seems that Nova definitely looks much older than him :eek: So ironic.....
