Well its finals now......

Out of 5 finals, only MS will be contested between players from different country.

Chn is assured with 2 Titles ( WS and WD) their traditional strong events...

MAS is assured with 1 title (MD) also their traditional event but with surprise....from the youngster.........:D

Tha also already confirmed with 1 (xd) title also their tradition event......;)

Only MS......will decides the owner between BP(Tha) and NTM (Veitnam).....

Boonsak Ponsana will face more resistants from NTM compared to WCH....... Its going to be 50 - 50 but i think BP has the chance of the home ground advantages..........

Go BP Go ,-)
I guess BP vs NTM surely will be the match of the day
Bit curious bout matches arrangements, though
wonder why they put MS in the 1st order
....
Too bad Alvent/Hendra lose @ SF yesterday
Better luck next time ,-)
.....
My early prediction:
1. MS
BP vs NTM = 50 : 50
BP has homeground advantage, but he just recovered from his flu + yesterday play rubbers w/ uncle WCH might drag his stamina,
NTM possibly upset him today
2. WD
GL/WYL vs YW/ZJW = 55 : 45
Based on their current performance, GL/WYL have upper hands,
But maybe CTF supports could boost his wife spirits? Hehe
3. MD
CTF/LWW vs CPS/LKW = 60 : 40
The uncles to win ,-)
4. WS
LJ vs WR = 50 : 50
5. XD
SP/ST vs SA/KV = 60 : 40

I am disappointed that Hendra A. Gunawan/Alvent Yulianto Chandra lost yet again in the SF of a GP Gold event (2 out of 3 now) to the MAS youngsters. They should have finished off the first set, having 2 game pts only to lose it 22-24 :crying:

Quite anticlimatic finale, though

had everything according to plan,
LCW and NTM projected to meet at 3rd round
That time, will it be another upset or revenge?

When CPS/LKW won the 2nd set, i figured they can beat the uncles this time around -> they really want to prove to the coaches they should stay as MD partners. And CPS current regular partner wasnt supposed to be LKW but Razif Latif.

All 3 - CPS, LKW, Razif are XD players. LKW doesnt have regular MD partner.
CPS & Razif playing in WC in XD dept. Maybe now the coaches can finally be convinced to partner CPS/LKW.;)

What I can only say is that it would be outrageous if BAM continues to split LCW and CPS after this game with this type of performance. Not only that, BAM should also keep the partnership of LKW and CPS with their partners who also played in this Thailand Open as I remembered they pushed their more established opponents to their limit which I haven't seen from Msia XD pairs for a long time apart from XD in which KKK was involved and we can't just depend on KKK in XD. On the other hand , I am a bit disappointed with the performance of TWK since he is clearly hoped to become a strong XD for Msia by BAM judging from the number of tournaments that he had been sent by BAM to participate so far. However he hasn't been able to deliver any impressive results so far apart from sometimes he did manage to steal one game but rarely able to produce consistent result as what LKW & CPS did in this tournament.

The XD performance also proved LKW and CPS are really good players with potential and their quick success in MD when two of them combined together is no fluke.

Well, LKW and Ng Hui Lin are groomed for XD more as they were the 2007 WJC in XD. 2nd was TWK, Woon Khe Wei as the 2007 AJC in XD.
While CPS was hanging no where in particular cos his ex MD partner CHang HP had to retire early due to kidney failure.
End up, Hui Lin had it the best cos they partnered her with KKK. LKW was just ok with WPT but their age gap too wide, when WPT retire....I'm not impressed with LKW's current XD partnership either.
WKW now doing well with Razif , going WC.
CPS, surprisingly, manage to qualify for WC with Goh Liu Ying for XD.

TWK seems quiet & passive, that's his problem, his new MD partner Mak HC is more daring than TWK.

..i think they are what they are and being Semifinalists will be their norm or max. finish; IMO, an inconsistent pair. Have they ever competed in the Final Rd ever since they partnered together? Have they won any titles together as a pair?? Maybe they should come to the U.S. Open GP and finally reach the Final Rd & maybe win a title..;)

Of course, it was not an accident. TM has ever beaten some other guys when he was out of top 40. He is a talented one. if he receives good investment, he will surely go further. I really wanna see him go to top 10 and beat other top 10 guys. Let's see!

I watched Gunawan/Yulianto in the quarterfinal and semi-final. Gunawan looked a bit lost and seemed to run out of ideas. Yulianto and the coach had to guide Gunawan during the matches.

They competed in 2 Finals (Malaysia SS and Philippines Open GP Gold). They lost to Jung Jae Sung/Lee Yong Dae (3-sets) and Bona Septano/Mohd Ahsan (3-sets too). They did win the Candra Wijaya Men's Doubles Tournament in Jakarta a couple of months ago, which featured most of the 2nd-team pairs like Wifqi Windarto/Afiat Yuris Wirawan and Fernando Kurniawan/Lingga Lie, plus a couple of pairs from Singapore (Hendri Kurniawan Saputra/Hendra Wijaya), Malaysia and Japan (if I remember correctly).

They lost in the SFs of:
India, Malaysia, and Thailand Opens GP Golds.

The problem has been Hendra A. Gunawan's nervousness.....

The problem has been Hendra A. Gunawan's nervousness.....
..whether it's his nervousness, his mind going blank/clueless at times, or he tends to lose concentration, bottom line is they're an inconsistent pair.

I think they've reached their max. and they can probably score some success against those 2nd tiered pairs. Even so, there's no guarantee they could win against those 2nd tiered pairs. So, if they lose against lowered tiered pairs, don't be surprised or disappointed.;)
