Thats only independent chinese players will be playing....I do not know the exact reason why China did not send the main team..as we know the relationship between Taiwan and China are much closer...

Even in the past few years, we see that there's practically no players from the Chinese National Team being sent to the CT Open.

Again, PBSI should send some of their top-team, with players like Simon Santoso, Rian Sukmawan/Yonathan Suryatama Dasuki, Bona Septano/Mohd Ahsan, Devin Lahardi/Lita Nurlita, etc. A good chance to win some titles like last year. But too bad, they decide to send the back-up team.

I think China team needs to take a rest too. Most of them participate in WC then followed by Macau Open. If they still appear in Chinese Taipei Open, I am just afraid they may get exhausted :D

In 2006 edition, China National players competed Chinese Taipei Open when Lin Dan, Zhang Ning and Cai Yun/Fu Haifeng won title.

Agree, just wondering why PBSI will only send back-up players to this GP Gold tourney...

I think PBSI should send the back up players to tournaments which have opportunity to get more points such as GP Australia and International Challenge Tournaments. Players such as Greysia/Nitya, Rian/Yonathan, Bona/Ahsan, suppose to send to GP or GP Gold Tournaments such as Chinese Taipei to get more experience, not only send them to SS Tournaments. Who is the person to decide sending players? Is he Lius Pongoh?

Best of luck for all INA players :)
Can't wait for new combo Rijal/Butet, hope their chemistry bode well ;)
Maybe Rijal finally found his soulmate this time around, though :p :p
...
Btw i guess PBSI decision not to sent their main team to Macau and Taipei is bcoz it's too short from WC,
the players may get exhausted,
though they have big chances to grab titles here
Or maybe its bcoz of their financial problems? LOL :) :)

All 4 WS qualifiers are Taipei players,

Cheng Shao Chieh, come back from injury, ex TPE-WS #1, 2004 WJC winner by beaten Lu Lan & Jiang Yanjiao

Pai Min Jie, ex WS#2 in 2008 UC team

Chiu Yi Ju, winner of 2008 Indonesia Challenge

Hsu Ya Ching, I guess she is TPE-Junior WS#1 (although another young player as 2nd winner in AJC), she played all team matches in 2009 AJC, failed in individual stopped by Tee Jing Yi in closed 3 sets. I can say she is same level with Febby Angguni who beaten by 22-10 21-19. She beat Liliane Chow in Qualifying final.

Looked like still no progress of 2 main Pelatnas players, Aprilia & Lindaweni.
Aprilia who had advantage by got bye in 1st round, lost to "unknown" TPE player.

Linda lost in 2nd round to another "unknown" player in 3 sets. Linda should learn more strategy of playing and try more offensive play. Actually she has good defence and bigger power if compare with Maria Febe or Febby Angguni but she very rarely to play aggressive (maybe any relation with her past injury ?).

As I expected, it's a COSTLY MISTAKE by PBSI to send Aprilia Yuswandari to both Macau and Chinese-Taipei GP Gold! For Lindaweni Fanetri, she did qualify for the Main Draw of Macau GP Gold, but failed this week

I will say keep Lindaweni, but expose her ONLY to International Series, Challenge, and GP tourneys till she's ready to progress to GP Gold and SS levels. Likewise, for Komala Dewi/Keshya Nurvita Hanadia, who failed to qualify to the main draw yet again.

The other Pelatnas back-up, Djarum, and independent players will start their journey today and I fear many will be beaten by the end of today.

Those who might lose today:
Hu Yun [14] vs Nugroho Andi Saputro

Gurusaidatt RMV vs Tommy Sugiarto

Yoga Pratama vs Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk -- if any of these 3 backup players win, it's a huge bonus.

Andreas Adityawarman vs Kazuteru Kozai -- tough match for Adit. I am not sure if he can beat the Japanese.

Andre Kurniawan Tedjono [8] vs Chen Hong -- a tough opener for Andre too....I fear he might lose.

Maria Febe Kusumastuti [3] vs Eriko Hirose -- a bad draw for Febe.

Luluk Hadiyanto/Joko Riyadi vs Hwang Ji Man/Shin Baek Cheol [6]

Fernando Kurniawan/Lingga Lie vs Mak Hee Chun/Tan Wee Kiong -- I fear this might be Edo/Lingga's last chance. If they lose early again, I think they will be split up for good!

Tony Gunawan/Howard Bach vs Candra Wijaya/Rendra Wijaya -- the ex WC is just too strong for the Wijaya siblings!

Ko Sung Hyun/Ha Jung Eun vs Fran Kurniawan/Pia Bernadet Zebadiah -- another tough opener for Fran/Pia....it will be a huge bonus if they can beat the KOR pair.

Those who I think will progress:
Dionysius Hayom Rumbaka vs Hsu Shao-Wen

Chan Tsz Ka vs Fransiska Ratnasari

Wifqi Windarto/Afiat Yuris Wirawan vs Chen Hung-Ling/Lin Yu-Lang -- I hope Wifqi/Afiat can repeat their victory over the TPE pair. But expect another 3-setter!

Hendra A. Gunawan/Alvent Yulianto Chandra [3] vs Kasper Faust Henriksen/Anders Kristiansen.

Emelie Lennartson/Emma Wengberg vs Annisa Wahyuni/Anneke Feinya Agustine

Pia Bernadet Zebadiah/Richi Puspita Dili vs Jung Kyung Eun/Yoo Hyun Young -- I hope Pia/Richi can negotiate the tricky opening match.

Mohd Rijal/Liliyana Natsir [6] vs Terry Yeo Zhao Jiang/Li Yujia -- an anticipated debut from Rijal/Butet. I think they will fulfill their seeding to face Lee/Lee in the QF.

Hendra A. Gunawan/Vita Marissa vs Kim Ki Jung/Jung Kyung Eun -- facing KOR pair is always tricky and I hope AG/Vita can progress.

Tontowi Ahmad/Richi Puspita Dili vs Sylvain Grosjean/Weny Rahmawati

'm quite sur Salakjjit won the match. She took 1st set 22-20 and was leading in the 2nd but I didn't see the end. Anyway now match is finished!

Lydia Cheah took 1st set 21-17 against Beiwen Zhang

Exactly! The odds are pretty high for Mohd Rijal/Liliyana Natsir to win the Mixed Doubles. And also for Hendra A. Gunawan/Alvent Yulianto Chandra to win their first GP Gold title in Men's Doubles (if Lee Yong Dae did not show up for MD too).

As expected, only a couple of the INA MS players progress. It's good to see Andre Kurniawan Tedjono beating Chen Hong (yet again!). That will boost his confidence for the later matches! Meanwhile, Tommy Sugiarto also won his first match in a while.

The casualty list for INA players was pretty much was what I expected, but I am glad that Andre and Febe can progress! More will fall today and I believe Pelatnas will only be relying on their XD pairs in the QF.

MS R32
Taufik Hidayat [1] vs Wong Wing Ki

Anup Sridhar [16] vs Dionysius Hayom Rumbaka -- a tough match for Hayom and it marks a progress if he can beat Anup.

Tommy Sugiarto vs Kim Sa Rang -- I still do not trust Tommy's ability and I think the KOR player will continue to progress.

Andre Kurniawan Tedjono [8] vs Chan Yun Lung -- should be a straight forward match for Andre.

WS R16
Maria Febe Kusumastuti [5] vs Hung Shih-Han -- I think Maria can still progress

Fransiska Ratnasari vs Bae Seung Hee -- a much tougher match for Nana and I hope she can progress.

MD R16
Hendra A. Gunawan/Alvent Yulianto Chandra [3] vs Rasmus Bonde/Mikkel Delbo Larsen -- another Danish pair for AG/Alvent and I hope with Jung/Lee's withdrawal, they can progress beyond SF.

WD R16
Zhang Dan/Zhang Zhibo vs Annisa Wahyuni/Anneke Feinya Agustine -- this marks the end of the road for INA's WD (yet again).

XD R16
Mohd Rijal/Liliyana Natsir [5] vs Mikkel Delbo Larsen/Mie Scjott-Kristensen -- Rijal/Butet should be careful not to be upset by the upcoming Danish XD pair. Suddenly, there's a resurgence in XD for Denmark. They have 2 solid pairs in the World Champion Laybourn/Rytter-Juhl, and Bronze-Medallist Fischer-Nielsen/Pedersen. I think this one might just turn up to be another top 10 pair.

Hendra A. Gunawan/Vita Marissa vs Yoo Yeon Seong/Kim Min Jung [7] -- a tough match for AG/Vita and I think the KOR pair might just win it.

Fran Kurniawan/Pia Bernadet Zebadiah vs Yohan Hadikusumo Wiratama/Chau Hoi Wah [4] -- a repeat of the NZL Open GP Final and I hope Fran/Pia can deliver again!

Tontowi Ahmad/Richi Puspita Dili vs Hui Wai Ho/Tse Ying Suet -- with the withdrawal of Sudket/Saralee, it opens up the path for Towi/Richi to reach at least QF.

So, the following INA pairs have progressed to the XD QF:
Mohd Rijal/Liliyana Natsir [5] vs MAS pair -- I think they should progress to SF.

Hendra A. Gunawan/Vita Marissa vs Yohan Hadikusumo Wiratama/Chau Hoi Wah [4] -- a tricky match, hopefully AG/Vita can progress to yet another SF.

Han Sang Hoon/Jang Ye Na vs Tontowi Ahmad/Richi Puspita Dili -- a tough match for Towi/Richi. Let's see if they can show that they are worth to be counted as INA's prospective XD pair!

MS R16 to be played later on:
Taufik Hidayat [1] vs Lee Cheol Ho -- Taufik should win another GP Gold title here!

Jang Young Soo vs Dionysius Hayom Rumbaka -- Hayom could well continue his good run with a victory over the equally promising KOR player. The winner of this match will face Taufik for a place in the SF.

P. Kashyap [13] vs Tommy Sugiarto -- it has been a good run for Tommy so far, let's see if he can continue that over the 13th-seed.

Ajay Jayaram vs Andre Kurniawan Tedjono [8] -- Andre should fulfill his seeding and probably face the second-seed Park Sung Hwan tomorrow.

I don't understand why Rijal/Lily and Candra/Rendra suddenly seeded 4th and 5th, respectively.
As they've never been paired before. How can they build up their WR rank so fast?

Haha yeah you're right, at least half INA lah ;) ;)
Btw what's happened to Nadya Melati?
Is Vita already split with her for good?
Or is it just temporarily partnership w/ Mona?
Nadya and Mona quite tomboyish,
If only they have DJ/YY's skills and powers,
Then certainly it would be deadly combo
Hahaha just kidding :p :p
