george@chongwei 08-12-2009, 11:04 AM I guess tomorrow matches will be much more interesting. The one i'm waiting for is of course the match between NTM and LCW. i expect a mouth watering match here:D:p anyway, all the best to mas players tommorrow..:)
for the latest scores, results and tomorrow order of play, please kindly refer here> http://www.tournamentsoftware.com/sport/matches.aspx?id=396051B5-CD7B-4E98-A111-5A927631C0C1&d=20090813
ThePlayer 08-12-2009, 11:06 AM All CHN players won their matchs today. Hope this trend will continue tomorrow.
Seasider 08-12-2009, 11:19 AM I want to see LCW against SDK again - just like in WC 2007, I want see if the history will repeat itself or if LCW will redeem himself. At that time LCW was WR#2 and had home court advantage and was most favorable to win over SDK; but the end result was different.
First, LCW needs to take care of the dark horse NTM and we shall see...
Seasider 08-12-2009, 11:24 AM Just for the heck of it:
What would your reaction be if the two dark horses NTM beat mighty LCW and Dicky Palyama beat Super Dan ??? (Dicky has the right to be the dark horse after he toppled BCL in two sets.
LinJoe 08-12-2009, 11:43 AM PSH can't meet BP again, hopefully BP can fight TH!

george@chongwei 08-12-2009, 12:01 PM sorry, double post........................
george@chongwei 08-12-2009, 12:03 PM This should be another interesting md match to watch out:cool:

whack_d_net 08-12-2009, 12:05 PM Waiting for more upsets and drama to come in R16
Best of LUCK for all INA players, they certainly NEED that

Well.. what u think? possible? BP VS TH
whack_d_net 08-12-2009, 12:45 PM Day 4, Round of 16
Lots of interesting matches involving giant clash, dark horses and possible upsets
For INA camp, i hope there's not too much casualties who following Firda and BoSan's footsteps
But today the "massacre" seems inevitable
Though i hope they prove me wrong. Okay lets get started:
WD:
GeNit vs DJ/YY
Shen/Mei vs MJ/WXL
Bad draws, Bad luck, Mission (almost) impossible against the Great Walls :crying:
...
WS:
MKY vs PHY
Go mbak jamu!
Lets hope PHY's alergy towards Maria (Kristin, Febe) continues here
Btw, i'm a bit curious why ppl keep calling PHY as Lady Pi?
...
MD:
Rian/Yoke vs Fuzzy pair
Battle among inconsistent pairs, let's see who's gonna be more "consistent" in this match
I think they're quite even, the outcome will depends on which side who able to minimize their unforced-stupid-errors
But i guess being as lone MD survivor for INA camp will put Rian/Yoke under pressure
...
XD:
DeviL vs TL/KRJ
Unconvincing performance from 2 previous matches, so bye bye DeviL
Hope they can springs some upset, though
NW/LN vs KKK/NHL
A tricky match, but it should be no problem for the defending champion
Well, at least until proven otherwise
...
MS:
TH vs HYH
SS vs Tago
SDK vs CA
Well i hope all of them prevails and advance to QF
But their opponents may surprise 'em, though
Especially HYH
Hehehe ,-D
ctjcad 08-12-2009, 12:55 PM Just for the heck of it:
What would your reaction be if the two dark horses NTM beat mighty LCW and Dicky Palyama beat Super Dan ??? (Dicky has the right to be the dark horse after he toppled BCL in two sets.
..for these 2 scenarios, the chances are:
SLIM and NONE..
This should be another interesting md match to watch out:cool:

..indeed. If not mistaken, they last time they met was in the 2004 U.S. Open MD Final. In that match, Gunawan and Bach destroyed Boe & Mogensen. Time has passed and we'll see how much the Danes have improved..Should be a very good match!
...Btw, i'm a bit curious why ppl keep calling PHY as Lady Pi?
...
..that moniker, i believe, was given by one of the BC members a while back...
Maybe it was given by our Syaoran_Style (who is also from the lovely France):

ye333 08-12-2009, 01:41 PM I think the one to watch is SS vs Tago. I think it's 50-50. Tago seems to be in perfect form, not only he beat Zwiebler, he dominated him.
Interestingly, every shot Tago made reminds me of Taufik. And of course quite a few shots of SS also resemble that of Taufik. So it's a clash between two Taufik clones. :D:D

Or taufik wannabe(s)? Hehe
ye333 08-12-2009, 01:56 PM Watch Tago play and you'll know what I mean.
Btw, since both Tago and SS lacks the power that Taufik has, I don't think either will be the next Taufik... But I think Tago (currently 20 if I remember correctly) has the potential to reach top 10 or even top 5 in a few years.
Or taufik wannabe(s)? Hehe
ctjcad 08-12-2009, 02:04 PM ..have been mentioned in the same breadth with Taufik's name before, mostly because of their style (Kenichi) and ability (Simon). Don't really look too much into Tago's win over Zwiebler. But, it is really going to be a 50-50 battle.

PIGGYGANONE 08-12-2009, 08:30 PM I noticed PHY have been addressed quit often as "THE LADY"
I wonder who will be "THE LORD" N "THE GENTLEMAN" to represent the male counterpart.
I wonder "THE FUZZY PAIR" is refering to which doubles pair.
THS IN ADVANCE for info.
PIGGYGANONE 08-12-2009, 08:54 PM GOOD MORNING EVERYONE.
I m a newbie to this arena and not very familiar with most players.
However if i were to nominate the LORD to represent tha MALE conterpart I will nominate LIN DAN.
But who shall be named "THE GENTLEMAN" I m not sure as I have not really seen the current top 20 playing.
Comments most welcome.
wow, BP have to face jan o jorgensen who upset psh today..in the round of 16..;)

X Ball and fellow MAS fans will strongly disagree with you over your choice of LD, but if you really mean 'badminton superiority', then I'm on your side. ;)
I can think of two possible candidates for "The Gentlemen".
THA's Boonsak and INA's SDK (Hope you know who he is.) :p
The Fuzzy pair belongs to MAS Malay MD (Guess?). Eagle knows them the best! ;)
PIGGYGANONE 08-12-2009, 10:07 PM LOH... THKS to your comment.
In my mind the title of LORD in the badminton arena could be one who appeared to have supremacy, superiority and authority recognised. Since LD has also been addressed as GOD of badminton, which can also mean RESPECT.
I would appreciate very much N totally in agreement if U can nominate anyone beside
LD that command traits of SUPREMACY,SUPERIORITY,AUTHORITY and RESPECT.
To befit the title of "THE GENTLEMAN' nomination should be based on "AFFABLE PERSONALITY. "HONEST and FAIR PLAY" "NICE and COOL temperament with
GOOD and POLITE manners, in n out of court.
I agree that BP is a good nomination for "THE GENTLEMEN' but I dont know about SDK.

Joe P 08-12-2009, 10:21 PM SDK would be Sony Dwi Kuncoro, one of the nicest bloke you'll ever meet anywhere; humble, friendly, talented. Just lacks a bit of consistency at times.
I would nominate Peter Gade for the the title also. He's been around for a while that guy, and I haven't heard anyone who doesn't like him, or isn't impressed by his demeanour on and off the court. :)
PIGGYGANONE 08-12-2009, 10:22 PM I think WCH(MAS) or commonly known as UNCLE WONG could be a appropriate
candidate for "THE GENTLEMEN"

I think INA would need another decade to be able to have 5 finalists in WC. But I am also a dreamer too, dreaming that INA would dominate the finals. Not this time!!! Go INA players..!!! Maju tak gentar!!

Can understand why you do not know many of the Indonesian players since you probably did not spend your early years, especially teens, in INA. But we look to INA too for badminton news and talents too.
I think you are more a citizen of the world. :p

What!!! Thread for 4th day started on 3rd day itself.
People really are crazy about badminton :D:D
PIGGYGANONE 08-12-2009, 11:28 PM TO LOH,
Greetings.
I believe U must be quite familiar with most options availale here.
I have a favor to request. Pls start a new thread for off topic posts.
This thread would be a grammy award type and casual gossip to nominate
candidates for various titles or pls notify me if such a thread is already available.
Heong 08-12-2009, 11:31 PM I've read many of Peter Gade's feedback of his performance in his tournament, and by reading his responses, i can tell he's in good form and he has a positive attitute.
He beat Sho Sasaki, a formidable opponent in two straight sets 21-11,21-12 and he never let him into the game. The score shows he's in top shape, and has his mind set very clearly.
Hope he wins his next match against Chan Yan Kit, another formidable opponent but Gade should be able to take him IMO. :)
I'm hoping that Peter wins this, cos i can tell he wants this title badly and worked very hard for this. So go Peter!
Lin Dan would be his toughest game yet if he wins his 3rd round 'gainst Chan Yan Kit. He'll need to be mentally prepared and be tactically aware of his game when he plays Lin Dan.
It's strange how they allowed Lin Dan to be seeded 5th. Okay so he hasn't been playing in tournaments, but still, it's quite obvious he's like either #1 or #2 no doubt. ><
This resulted in having the 'top' players on the top side of the draw, while on the bottom are the 'least' top players. Not saying that anyone is bad or anything, but it's just not balanced judging by the players' recent performances.
Chen Jin, seeded #2 doesn't seem to be playing his best, as he seemed to have to work hard for his points judging by his scores against unseeded players.
btw, i'm happy to see how Kenichi progresses in this tourney. After watching his game, he seems to be very mature in his game and got to see some very nice rallies in his game against Zweibler, and winning him 21-15, 21-10. He's definately gonna give Santoso one tough time. :)
He beat Joachim Perrson!!!
Peace!

Krisna 08-13-2009, 12:43 AM There are
17 from China
9 from Indonesia
6 from Malaysia
left
I think, realistically, by the end of the day, there will be 4 left from Indonesia... :o But there is also some chance there will be 6 left...
caklov 08-13-2009, 12:44 AM Wei-Dan
Taufiq-Jin
Bad luck for Peter Gade to play against Lin Dan..Anyway hope Peter can beat him:p.
whack_d_net 08-13-2009, 12:46 AM So far me ignoring this tournament has guaranteed most Malaysian players getting thru :D
So now that I'm coming into BC again, hopefully they won't crash and burn.
Are you saying that your presence here is such a jinx for MAS players fate?
Well, then i guess you must have lots of enemies here
Hehe kiddin
...
As for any players who advanced to Round of 16, there must be tougher opponents await them
Today i predict most of CHN shuttlers will pull through,
While some of INA and MAS will crash and burn
But hopefully not too much for INA camp
(aside WD maybe)
pajrul 08-13-2009, 01:06 AM There are

pretty depressing.. serves to remind us malaysians, how not far we had advanced despite huge efforts... sigh...
whack_d_net 08-13-2009, 01:08 AM Today matches, Round of 16 will started playing at 2:00 PM (local time)

Best of luck for all INA shuttlers!
Ching293 08-13-2009, 01:16 AM I want to watch the match at court 2 later!! But stadium astro is broadcasting court 3 right? But i heard the commentator kept repeating the schedule in court 2 last night..
arjuntew 08-13-2009, 01:27 AM I hope NTM beat LCW today, go on NTM!
Not very likely to happen mate, NTM will have to show something extra-ordinary :)

Ching now all the four courts are the show court. If the game features some seeded players, it will be broadcasted.
pretty depressing.. serves to remind us malaysians, how not far we had advanced despite huge efforts... sigh...
I think last year when WC was held in KL, no MAS players entered the finals and most of the boleh fans also disappeared unfortunately. Hope this year in a neutral country MAS can do better. :D
DairyRon 08-13-2009, 01:33 AM Hope KKK/NHL will play their best way to win indonesia XD

CLELY 08-13-2009, 01:46 AM I think, realistically, by the end of the day, there will be 4 left from Indonesia... :o But there is also some chance there will be 6 left...
Let me guess, 4 representatives will be TH, SDK, Nova/Liliyana, Simon Santoso.
And possible quarterfinal spot, Maria Kristin Yulianti and Rian/Yonathan, seems tough chance for two WD pairs and Devin/Lita.
vpsingh 08-13-2009, 02:17 AM Ching now all the four courts are the show court. If the game features some seeded players, it will be broadcasted.
DD Sports in India covers matches in all courts (obviuosly only one match can be broadcasted at a time). Since they are showing to Indian viewers , most matches are those involving Indian players, but now when almost all Indian players have left for home, I can expect matches from seeded players.:)
vpsingh 08-13-2009, 02:26 AM All the encounters today in Men Singles are matches which any one of the two players can win.
Although everybody has a favourite player here and some players have more win to show than their opponents but IMHO for all today's MS matches, predicting a winner is impossible.
May the better player win in all cases.:)

Mr Singh, you are very diplomatic...:)
I agree from this round onwards, it would be touch and go for most matches, the player/s that gives 110% and have the desire would probably win.

This is supposed to be the first match broadcasted at 4.30PM ASTRO
I have to cheer for my sweet heart if she is around.(MAS)
I also have to cheer for my cousins in INA.
I will be cheering for both team since both parties are not around with me.
abedeng 08-13-2009, 03:05 AM All courts are crowded with players warming up. Unfortunately, the stadium is practically empty.
PIGGYGANONE 08-13-2009, 03:08 AM Hi evrybody,

disagree in one case.
LD vs Dicky Palyama :p
i reckon LCW will flatten NTM too, even though he lost in their previous encounter.

george@chongwei 08-13-2009, 03:12 AM Well.. what u think? possible? BP VS TH
if this 2 player were to meet in this tournament, i think it will be a 55-45 chance for in favour of th.
abedeng 08-13-2009, 03:15 AM Courts 2 and 3 are covered by live cameras, so I suppose broadcasters can choose which one to show.
george@chongwei 08-13-2009, 03:22 AM What!!! Thread for 4th day started on 3rd day itself.
People really are crazy about badminton :D:D
hey, of course...we have to be fast and furious ..:p

Don't worry about malaysia in this tournament? how about singapore then?;)

Aeolus 08-13-2009, 03:24 AM Astro Ch816 is going to cover Court 2 today (13/08/2009).
ctjcad 08-13-2009, 03:25 AM I think last year when WC was held in KL...
Typo. It's either:
- 2 yrs ago when WC was held in KL or
- Last WC edition was held in KL
;)
Today matches, Round of 16 will started playing at 2:00 PM (local time)
...
All courts are crowded with players warming up. Unfortunately, the stadium is practically empty.
..they changed the start time again?? First, they announced all of the matches from Day 1 til Semifinals Rd will start @ 1:20 pm. Now, they push it back to 2 pm...No wonder very few people are coming to watch the matches..
...I have a favor to request. Pls start a new thread for off topic posts.
This thread would be a grammy award type and casual gossip to nominate
candidates for various titles or pls notify me if such a thread is already available.
..Off topic posts/comments are realistically unavoidable in these threads. That's fine. As long as we keep 'em to a minimum that should be okay. Yes, we have other threads covering the many different topics for this WC as well.
I think, realistically, by the end of the day, there will be 4 left from Indonesia... :o But there is also some chance there will be 6 left...
..could be 4.5 or 6.5, if one is to count Tony G. (his t-shirt says USA but he's really still INA)..;)
Well, sometimes it is also good to be a daydreamer.....
I think INA would need another decade to be able to have 5 finalists in WC. But I am also a dreamer too, dreaming that INA would dominate the finals. Not this time!!! Go INA players..!!! Maju tak gentar!!
..indra is more of a daydreamer. He's the ultimate BC INA die-hard supporter..Once you know him & his posts, you wouldn't be surprised..;)
Courts 2 and 3 are covered by live cameras, so I suppose broadcasters can choose which one to show.
..yep, 2 cameras as mentioned before. 1 is for Astro and the other one i believe is for the local Indian broadcast channel.
Met any other BCers, abang Din??..
george@chongwei 08-13-2009, 03:27 AM Astro Ch816 is going to cover Court 2 today (13/08/2009).

Pretty bad play that!!
F-38-I 08-13-2009, 03:57 AM That was WPT , now is NHL.......WPT is way better than NHL...Nothing to worry about lah...! :D
But still at that time WPT wasn't good like today, so it was surprising when Nova/Lilyana lost at that time. INA tries to move closer to end of the game. Btw, go Hongkong!

Yes, all along tiny Singapore relied on its "foreign talents" to prosper. Only China and INA, as two of the badminton powerhouses in Asia are self-reliant on their own talents.
Even MAS as a powerhouse have to import foreign coaches. What more can I say...
whack_d_net 08-13-2009, 04:13 AM Hey, taiwanese Harry Potter show some of his magic

whack_d_net 08-13-2009, 04:46 AM DeviL performance also quite unconvincing from the previous 2 match b4
I think they're kinda stuck,
I still support them wholeheartedly, but i won't put high hopes on them :o
...
Yeah same here, my inet connection kinda slow :crying:
So i'm just staring at TS livescores :p
Hope there still lot of INA shuttlers in SF though, so we can watch 'em live via Global TV
Hehehe :D
aulia 08-13-2009, 04:48 AM Gade maybe reads LD score, he need three more points to make it. :D:D. Ah, Chan Yan Kit avoid to get breadstick. 12-20 though.
badMania 08-13-2009, 04:49 AM I maintain my judgement that Devin/Lita has already reached their limit and has no chance to become a top 5 pair. They just lack everything...power...speed....etc. At best a back-up top 15 pair.
INA will definitely rely on the younger pairs like Towi/Richi, Fran/Pia, and Rijal/Butet (if this pair becomes a permanent pairing).
abedeng 08-13-2009, 04:50 AM None of the CHN girls are sporting those, ahem, appealing skirts so far. I am getting bored.
Jagdpanther 08-13-2009, 04:50 AM Devin/Lita, already hit the ceiling...
yunarinaldi 08-13-2009, 04:50 AM Yawn....as expected, Devin/Lita are getting pummelled (yet again) by a top 10 pair...this time, Laybourn/Rytter-Juhl.
Tomorrow, Devin/Lita will be on the first flight back to Jakarta.
Devin/Lita is kinda 'mentok' pair i think..Lita's defense is quite bad..Devin needs to have new pair if he wanna level at top 5 XD pair..
badMania 08-13-2009, 04:52 AM Meanwhile, Nova Widianto/Liliyana Natsir continue their bid for a 3rd World Championships title after a straight-set victory over Koo Kien Keat/Ng Hui Lin. Tricky opponent still await them in the QF in the form of either V. Diju/Jwalla Gutta or Robert Mateusiak/Nadiezda Kostiuczyk. I believe Nova/Butet can beat either pair.
The REAL TEST will arrive in the SF, with possibly He Hanbin/Yu Yang being the opponent. Nova/Butet haven't lost to He/Yu in recent encounters, so, there's a chance that Nova/Butet might just sneak into the FINAL yet again
whack_d_net 08-13-2009, 04:53 AM Bye bye DeviL :crying:
aulia 08-13-2009, 04:53 AM DeviL performance also quite unconvincing from the previous 2 match b4

How if (nauzubillah, :D) NO INA players reaching SF??? They still broadcast, eh?:confused:.
badMania 08-13-2009, 04:53 AM Devin/Lita is kinda 'mentok' pair i think..Lita's defense is quite bad..Devin needs to have new pair if he wanna level at top 5 XD pair..
Agreed whole-heartedly...I just don't understand why Richard Mainaky still wanna keep this pair  Pair up Devin with Debby Susanto.
jasonmarc 08-13-2009, 04:54 AM Lets see if Salakjit Ponsana can do wonders against XXF...........
jasonmarc 08-13-2009, 04:56 AM Meanwhile, Nova Widianto/Liliyana Natsir continue their bid for a 3rd World Championships title after a straight-set victory over Koo Kien Keat/Ng Hui Lin. Yes, they have relatively easier draw compared to LYD/LHJ who have to play
Chn pairs from last 16 onwards....Nova/Butet only have HHB/YY in their way.......and have good H2H records againts the chn...
Chibot 08-13-2009, 04:57 AM DeviL pair facing hard opponent. Its hard for them to win this match
danielwong 08-13-2009, 04:58 AM None of the CHN girls are sporting those, ahem, appealing skirts so far. I am getting bored.
thats why i seldom hang here anymore
tennis would be good choice
ahem...women tennis
aulia 08-13-2009, 04:59 AM 8 [others] points at 1st set.
8 [others] points at 2nd set (maybe more),
Others means what? shuttlecock tumbling at net against DeviL pair??? :D:D:D
whack_d_net 08-13-2009, 04:59 AM How if (nauzubillah, :D) NO INA players reaching SF??? They still broadcast, eh?:confused:.
Oh no, please don't let that happened
But i guess Global will still broadcast WC as they're proclaiming themself as badminton station
Jagdpanther 08-13-2009, 04:59 AM DeviL pair facing hard opponent. Its hard for them to win this match
I suggest better choice of word: impossible.:o
21-9 21-9. Cute scoreline.
Hey, at least they're better than Yoo/Kim.
Next: Rian/Yoke vs Fuzzy.
badMania 08-13-2009, 05:00 AM DeviL pair facing hard opponent. Its hard for them to win this match
Even Nova/Butet will find it HARD to beat Laybourn/Rytter-Juhl, having lost to the Danes several times already in the past 2 years. Not to mention the inferior Devin/Lita. It's ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE for them to beat the Danes, unless they are in supreme form :o
badMania 08-13-2009, 05:01 AM I suggest better choice of word: impossible.:o
21-9 21-9. Cute scoreline.
Next: Rian/Yoke vs Fuzzy.
Hey, we are using the SAME WORD!
As for Rian/Yoke: 50-50....with some luck they might just sneak into the QF.
aulia 08-13-2009, 05:02 AM thats why i seldom hang here anymore
tennis would be good choice
ahem...women tennis
You must hate Sharapova at Wimbledon two years ago. :D:D. She wore very bad pants:o:o (ups)
DeviL gone already.... other INA players, please stay a bit longer, at least until 16 :D:D
danielwong 08-13-2009, 05:02 AM wow...HeHan Bin/Yu Yang won easily!!!
whack_d_net 08-13-2009, 05:02 AM Agreed whole-heartedly...I just don't understand why Richard Mainaky still wanna keep this pair  Pair up Devin with Debby Susanto.
Yeah, DeviL kinda stuck as a pair
Maybe PBSI should split en pair em with younger player
But i guess Debby already paired with Rijal, no?
limsy 08-13-2009, 05:02 AM finally,i get some time to feel the heat of wc:D
danielwong 08-13-2009, 05:04 AM Salakjit is holding XXF throat now
Chibot 08-13-2009, 05:04 AM DeviL pair lost :(
aulia 08-13-2009, 05:05 AM WPT/CEH vs SS/MM. Hmmm...tricky match for number 1 seed.
danielwong 08-13-2009, 05:06 AM Can Skinny Wong and Chubby Chin win over the Japanese?
Or PJB is confident his gals will triumph?
Jagdpanther 08-13-2009, 05:06 AM Yeah, DeviL kinda stuck as a pair
Maybe PBSI should split en pair em with younger player
But i guess Debby already paired with Rijal, no?
Debby is injured.
And perhaps another experiment by the coach. Lily needs younger partner. Nova is way too old...

whack_d_net 08-13-2009, 05:13 AM Debby is injured.
And perhaps another experiment by the coach. Lily needs younger partner. Nova is way too old...
Agreed, we can't rely on Nova/Lily forever :o
Heard some news that Nova will retired soon
At the moment their back-ups still inconsistent and inexperienced
Yeah classic old story bout regeneration in PBSI :p

abedeng 08-13-2009, 05:52 AM MAS WD force a decider at the death but Chin isn't match fit. Missed quite a number of 3rd shots.

Chibot 08-13-2009, 05:56 AM INA's MD has swept out of tournament :(
PIGGYGANONE 08-13-2009, 05:57 AM I think Lohs reaction is RECIPROCAL only.
Someone from Malaysia ridicule tiny Spore for talent import as player.
Also claim that import of coaches are different issue.
To me players and coahes are 1 unit contributing to performance.
In this context they are the same.
Only difference is different category.
So Malaysia is importing foreign talent to upgrade players performance
abedeng 08-13-2009, 05:57 AM Wang Yihan gets her initials on Jen's autograph book.
