LD is an absolute beast. He's not the most graceful mover on court, and his strokes do not look anywhere near as refined as many pro players. But he is the ultimate big-time match player, who knows how to win points and matches. Mentally, he is a giant, and because of that, he is already more than halfway to victory, because it's often the top 2 inches that define the victor amongst the very best of the best. He is also quite a physical specimen!!

It's lonely at the top!

Bad luck for XXF. It seems that her confidence is badly destroyed after OG08 and still struggle to gain her form. Espescially after reaching finals like in SO09 and this WC09 (feeling haunted or traumatized by her failures to defeat ZN).

Maybe her boyfriend LD can help her to be SUPERGIRL.

In my opinion , Lin dan is the best in world badminton, Tournaments like , Thomas cup, Sudirman cup, All England and world champonship, lin dan rises to the occassion .. Like Liverpool beat Milan in the UEFA cup final

don't think LD is caring about taking back the ranking, he's now just concentrating on quality outings... and LCW would take the oppotunity to keep it, by quantity (not quality) he is in Macau next week la...

..Datuk LCW will give it a miss next week>>check the news and the Macau Open sub-forum...Who knows how long he'll be out of competition after this WC..This yr's WC seems to be LCW's biggest goal as he had undergone a relatively hard preparation..

I think is good for Chong Wei to take a short break, I always think he cares too much about protecting his #1 ranking hence over-participating. Chong Wei has achieved quite a lot except winning the huge title so may be is time to alter the routine and see how thing turn out?
As for Lin Dan, we all have to agree by now(why taking so long), he's head and shoulder above of everyone, quite easy to nominate him to be "Man Of The Year" once again even in the month of August!
Lin Dan, simply the best!

In that case, he must summon all his courage to immobilize his own fingers. After all he has lost most of his bets and this will help him not to make 'unusual' bets anymore and only to lose again.

Yes it has been shown time and again that when LCW knows he has to face LD, he will try to find as many probable solutions to assist him. But his biggest mistake this time is to seek LM out without a thorough think through. Too bad his own coach can't help him. Now the consequences are irreparable.

His focus has been diverted into so many unnecessary areas so near his WC title attempt that his energies and training time were dissipated into thin air. So much so that he lost even to Sony in the QF.

That was the price to pay for not training harder than LD, who demonstrated supreme fitness and consistency that even the impressive CJ could not handle in the Final. ;)

what about this, 4 consecutive winners (and 5 consecutive final appearance) of MS title of the year (05WC finalist, 06WC winner, 07WC winner, 08OG winner (no WC in 08) and 09WC winner), not to mention AE... what could you say!!! champion of champions, best of the bests,...

is he comparative to Tiger Woods of Golf, Federrer of Tennis, history would tell you he's amongst the legends...

what is more scary, he is now just focus on how to continuously improve himself, not care about WR or whatever... seems now he just has himself as the biggest rival: how to defeat the yesterday LD.. see what he said after 09WC:-

"I'm very happy to win three times, I hope in future also I can have better performances," Lin said in a courtside interview through an interpreter after the win.

2006 WC, 2007 WC, 2008 OG, 2009 WC (repeating for good measure :p)

Amazing... wonder if the tradition will continue? Doesn't look like he's going anywhere soon :). There's not a single tournament he doesn't go into as the clear favourite.

I haven't seen his last two matches yet so can't comment on it, but he showed some mental weakness in the first game against Peter Gade. Also, his celebratory carry on was a bit over the top, in my opinion, but that's not totally relevant.

come on, are you expecting a human could be without a single second of weakness or human nature flaw? LD is at the end also a human being, cannot be without any emotionally, sentimentally, physically or mentally up and down...

but a real champion like him, is able to control such human nature weakness or flaw to minimum most of the time during the competition, and able to maintain his quality of play till winning the game...

the sports science and information technologies nowadays are able to keep top player physically and technically to a very close range (this is the case in all kinds of sports), however, you got to find out why someone could always outstand themself at big moments above others given such close competition???

it's always easy to pick bones in egg white (just borrow from a Chinese old saying)...

Yes, congrats to Lin Dan. He is the best and deserved to be up there with the best of the best.

I am sorry to say that LCW is not in the same class as Lin Dan. And I think LCW will finish his career without ever winning a major title *sigh* :(
