As with previous years and this year's Vietnam Int Challenge, we will probably see quite a sizeable contingent from PB Djarum as well as the Pelatnas 2nd-team players.

With both MAS uncles participating, I think we can kiss MD title goodbye... :(
And for once in a blue moon, INA WD is seeded 1st. :p
A little bit hard in XD. Mission almost impossible in MS, with NTM playing.
I hope INA gals can fully take their 1st seeds status into their advantage. That means, 2 titles.
Lastly, Indonesia Bisa. :)

Yoga Ukikasah is INA player from SGS Bandung (same club with Flandy)
He ever played represent Turkey together with Variella Aprilsasi (ex Djarum) and Chafidz Yusuf (coach).
I was a bit surprised when played for Turkey Variella won a tournament by beat Vivian & Sanatasah Saniru (MAS) in WS & WD.

Nice work by Lindaweni Fanetri in beating the 4th seed! She will now face a relatively easy match against Leisha Cooper for a place in the last 8 tomorrow. Unfortunately, Maria Elfira Christina was beaten by Hsu Ya-Ching in 3 tight-sets (esp the last 2). The TPE player has been a jinx to INA players as she also eliminated Aprilia Yuswandari 21-19, 21-19 in the Macau Open GP Gold and Febby Angguni in the Chinese-Taipei Open GP Gold in 2 tight-sets 22-20, 21-19.
Meanwhile, Maria Febe Kusumastuti will face Aprilia Yuswandari. I hope Febe and Lindaweni will meet each other in SF.
In the lower half, Fransiska Ratnasari [5] and Rizky Amelia Pradipta are also expected to clash tomorrow for a place in the last 8.

Rijal/Debby will face a tricky tie against Nuttaphon Narkthong/Vacharaporn Munkit tomorrow. As expected, Maria Febe Kusumastuti beat Aprilia Yuswandari in straight-sets 21-17, 21-17. She will face Tai Tzu Ying for a place in the last 4.
In the MS, out of the 3 Pratama players, only Tommy Sugiarto remains. Both Nugroho Andi Saputro and Yoga Pratama lost in the past 2 days. Tommy has to beat Krishnan Yogendran if he's to fulfill his seeding.
Meanwhile, Djarum players all advance to R16. Dionysius Hayom Rumbaka should beat Andreas Adityawarman later tonight, while Andre Kurniawan Tedjono will face a tricky test against Derek Wong Zi Liang. Alamsyah Yunus [16] also advances and will face the seventh-seed Pakkawat Vilailak in R16.
In the XD, only Tontowi Ahmad/Richi Puspita Dili remains in the draw. They should beat Raj Veeran/Renuga Veeran tomorrow. They might just face the more experienced Flandy Limpele/Cheng Wen-Hsing for a place in the Final. Mohd Rijal/Debby Susanto lost in a tight 3-setter as feared :o

Yuuup yup... Keep Linda, kick the 2 other WS out. The WS National Team composition of 2010 should just be: Firda, Maria Kristin, Maria Febe, and Lindaweni... That's it. :p But in case INA needs extra firepower for the Uber Cup team, the national team can consider either Nana or Pipin as a backup WS... ;)
And yes, I think Nana's chance of winning is 49%... She can beat Zhang Beiwen, but not an easy task at all.... :p

Tommy Sugiarto [8] vs Andre Kurniawan Tedjono [2] -- Pelatnas vs Djarum and I believe Tommy was never beaten by Andre.

Lindaweni Fanetri vs Le Ngoc Nguyen Nhung [8] -- a tricky match for Linda, but, she should be able to beat the home player.
Fransiska Ratnasari [5] vs Zhang Beiwen [2] -- Nana shows reasonable progress since her departure from Pelatnas and has been consistently reaching QFs of GP events. She fulfills her seeding yet again this week and it will be a bonus if she can been the SIN player.

XD QF
Raj Veeran/Renuga Veeran vs Tontowi Ahmad/Richi Puspita Dili [2] -- I have a high hope on Towi/Richi in this tourney, but, I think they will lose to Flandy Limpele/Cheng Wen-Hsing tomorrow.
Andre can beat Tommy, but historically didn't do well against Tommy for whatever reason... :p I think Wifqi-Alfiat has a 50-50 chance against Luluk-Joko. And as for Tantowi... you cannot bet against Tantowi in Vietnam! :D The guy keeps winning and winning despite playing with different partners. Vietnam is Tantowi's 'home outside home'! :p
I have been told that Edo/Wiqgi (if i heard it right, wiqgi, not afiat)performs better in the practice..I wont be surprised and indeed that Edo/Lingga may be playing for last time...
If Lingga stays at the pelatnas, he may pair with afiat, also Sigit may try them with some of Pratama MD as well...since they have come back to Cipayung since Oct 5....
Actually it is nothing to do with Lingga's father but mostly he and Edo, for some reason are not communicating well at all....I hardly see them going out together..
If so, then Coach Sigit Pamungkas is not wrong. Wifqi is the stronger choice compared to Alfiat, while Edo is the stronger choice compared to Lingga...

They have 2 yr contract with Yonex.....within a year, they have to be top 32 MD to justify their contract.I think they will make it....they have to perform well in this tourney..then play HKG Open and MAS Challenge...
When does their contract start? I see that they only started partnering during the INA SS (June this year). After less than 4 mths and 6 tourneys, They are now on WR57, with 15,850 pts. Even with 2,750 pts from QF finish this week, they will reach top 50 next week (18,600).
If the target is top 32 by end of the year, then the number of ranking pts will need to be at least 30,000 to be safe. Not easy though if the deadline is end of this year :o

Yeah i guess Nana's decision to join Djarum since she's no longer in pelatnas is quite right as she recently get more opportunities to play in int'l tourneys :):)
Many ppl considered her as "stuck" players, i guess this is her time to prove them wrong, also as she's already 23 y.o.
But first things first, she had to overcome Tai Tzu Ying on tomorrow finale
I guess this current AJC runner-up isn't easy meat for Nana as she already beat 3 seeded player enroute to finale (including Febe, seed #1):mad:
Hope Nana can grab her 1st GP title tomorrow, and also show consistency plus bode well in the near future

Both Fransiska Ratnasari and Luluk Hadiyanto/Joko Riyadi have won their matches! At last, Luluk manages to win his first title since end of 2004! What a long wait......
Overall, INA wins 3.5 titles! The Vietnam Open GP is once again one of INA's favourite hunting ground in terms of titles won!

Yes, his matches in QF, SF and Final all lasted 3 games......maybe he did it on purpose as part of his training..............:D:D
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
NTM did not go for three games on purpose. CWF did well and he lost in 55 minutes at 21-7, 19-21, 21-14.
CWF should improve with more guidance from Hendrawan.
:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes: :rolleyes:

My translation:
Nguyen Tien Minh has beaten his Malaysian opponent in the Single Men's Final in Phan Dinh Phung stadium yesterday afternoon in Ho Chi Minh city. The number 1 Vietnamese badminton athlete has succesfully defended his title in the Vietnam Open Grand Prix Championship.

Nearly 2000 audience were presented in the match. Tien Minh (Number 7 World Ranking) has beaten his Malaysian opponent Chong Wei Fei (No 58) to defend his title.
He said:
"I didn't understand why I went in the game with a heavy mindset, so I didn't start well. After the first set win, I wanted to finish the game quickly, so I rushed it in the 2nd set. However, with the massive support of the audience had helped me regain my confidence in the last and final set". He said about the game.
"I'm very happy with this title. Thank you very much everyone who had helped me achieved this success. I will continue to work harder in the future." He shared.
Not just succesfully defended the title of this competition, this is also his 3rd Grand Prix title in this year. Previously, he had also won the Thailand and Taiwan Open Grand Prix in July and August.
Entering the match on Sunday afternoon, although outranked his opponent by 51 ranks, but Tien Minh had a bumpy start. Chong Wei Fei lead the first match in the beginning but Tien Minh regroupped quickly and had put more pressure on Chong Wei Fei, to quickly finish the first set with a big lead 21-7.
But in the 2nd set, the Malaysian played more aggressively, and put Tien Minh in his back foot with many difficult defenses. Tien Minh had rushed his play too much which resulted in failing to cros the net. They finished the second set with 21-19 to Chong Wei Fei, game 1-1.
But in the third set, Tien Minh finished it off nicely with 21-14, finalised his title achievement with game 2-1.

He accepted his prize of 3,700 USD, and his reward in World Ranking points to climb his ladder to number 7 in the World. (WOO HOO).
My translation from www.vnexpress.net (http://www.vnexpress.net/).
Enjoy everyone, my tears jumped out when I read this news :D. Soooo Happy woo hoo. Long Live Tien Minh!!!!
And if anyone has the link to the match, please post it here also.
Cheers
