View Full Version : Re-Draw: Li Ling China Master Super Series 2009
kevinboy 09-09-2009, 09:52 AM BWF had a re-draw for the MS event.
Easier for Lee Chong Wei, will meet Joachim Persson at QF and Lin Dan at SF.
PSH will meet LD at QF.
Bottom half, Boosak or Chan Yan Kit should be one of the QF-lists, and meet Peter Gade at QF.
4/4 area, bad draw for BCL again, meet Chen Jin at round 16.
Wong Chong Han will face Chen Long at first round, the winner is likely to proceed to QF.

Made a mistake, actually it is tougher for LCW.
Originally LD is at the bottom half of the draw...
wawakkk 09-10-2009, 12:36 AM this is not fair
what is the reason of the re-draw?
I guess 'they' didn't want CJ and LD in the same half (original draw)
CLELY 09-10-2009, 12:51 AM BWF had a re-draw for the MS event.
Wong Chong Han will face Chen Long at first round, the winner is likely to proceed to QF.
Looks like WCH's opponent could be home shuttlers until quarterfinal, Chen Long at R/32, possibly Gong Weijie at R/16 and either BCL or CJ at last eight round.

According to Sina news, China player Gao Huan was missed out in the main draw. He was listed as a qualifier although he should not be there. That's why there is a re-draw.
Now he is back to the main draw and will face Gong Weijie in the first round.
limsy 09-10-2009, 03:03 AM so where is the new draw?
thanks in advance

It looks like LCW is taking CJ's place in the original draw...........really funny.
I think INA is smarter to totally skip this one.;):D

quik_silver 09-10-2009, 11:38 AM well it's china's playground, what is fair for china except for putting all their players in the best position
dassad 09-10-2009, 03:57 PM so badly for our Israeli pioneer Misha: got BCL right in a first round.. opposite to some player in previous draw..
SibugiChai 09-10-2009, 07:34 PM I think BWF is fair... there must be a reason for the redraw... as the last thing BWF wanna see is CHina Vs China in Final
alexyong 09-10-2009, 07:46 PM Lee Chong Wei and Lin Dan at SF

here's the reason for the redraw.
Badminton: China Open redraw pits Chong Wei, Lin Dan in same half
By RAJES PAUL
KUALA LUMPUR: A redraw for the men’s singles competition of the China Masters in Changzhou next week may have taken away the smile from world No. 1 Lee Chong Wei.
The top seeded Malaysian now finds world champion Lin Dan of China, who is seeded fourth, in his half of the draw.
The Badminton World Federation (BWF) confirmed that yesterday that they opted for a redraw following the withdrawal of world No. 20 Wacha Przemyslaw of Poland.
Usually, the BWF do not conduct a redraw when one or two players pull out of the competition or if they feel that the absence of one player will not affect the draw.
http://thestar.com.my/archives/2009/9/11/sports/s_66chingwei.jpg No cheer: Lee Chong Wei is the top seed while Lin Dan is seeded fourth in the China Open.
The BWF event manager, V. Venugopal, said: “The tournament referee felt the need for a redraw. They had a good reason to do it and it was carried out yesterday. Only the men’s singles competition was affected.”
National coach Misbun Sidek felt that the redraw would not really affect Chong Wei as he still needed to stay focused on the tasks in the early rounds.
“Yes, the previous draw was much more favourable to Chong Wei. But in the redraw, there are still younger players waiting to scalp him and it will not be easy from the first round,” he said.
Chong Wei will take on Chinese youngster Lu Qicheng in the opening round and he cannot expect to have a walk in the park.
The others in his quarter are talented Thai youngster Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk, Denmark’s Joa-chim Persson and another young Chinese talent, Du Pengyu.
Lin Dan is in the same quarter as South Korean Park Sung-hwan, Hong Kong’s Hu Yun and Taiwanese Hsieh Yu-hsin.
The other half of the draw with second seed Chen Jin are his Chinese compatriot, Bao Chunlai, Dane Peter-Gade Christensen, Thai Boonsak Ponsana and Malaysian veteran Wong Choong Hann.

nicole_tvxq 09-11-2009, 07:35 AM Could someone tell me why INA skip this tournament? Thanks. ^^ I hoped to see Liliyana but she won't be playing.

As usual, it's $$$ issue, although Lius said differently.
I do wonder why Djarum doesn't take advantage of this and send their player instead??
eRa@에라 09-11-2009, 12:12 PM I'm in a bad mood for the delayed Rafa match and now, what is this re-draw thing?! I just read the BAM site news... aiseh! What kind of mistake is this? Next week gonna play only now realize the need to re-draw... if he was listed in the qualifier but shouldn't be there, why not use that WO format to push him forward to main draw? cannot meh? whyyyyy need to re-draw? haiya what fair la, I don't think final CHN vs CHN is impossible.... definitely possible... LD in 1st half, CHN others best bet in the bottom half... manipulation... manipulation...
cooler 09-11-2009, 12:30 PM the redraw actually favored LCW as i don't see any serious players that could upset or tire out LCW. In LD's case, he has to deal with PSH and Hsieh Yu-hsin which IMO much more competent players than what lcw has to face with. I see most of the jr chinese players are on the other half, lucky to lcw again since those chinese jr's are trained to beat lcw and TH, LOL.
eRa@에라 09-11-2009, 06:20 PM It's just..... I hate to see him play LD at any level except final. LOL... besides, with his sort of not serious injury, anything could happen on the day of the match.... he might be driven to his 'knee' limit... hehe... either way, I still support him la... I know this maybe a wishful thinking but I pray he will reach final... :)

Yes, this US Open weather is a killer. Is it worse when it happens at the beginning or when it's at the end stage of the tournament? But Rafa already had this kind of training from Wimbledon, so cheer up, he can handle it...
Must say the redraw is excellent. Dream draw for PG. Unfortunately, the venue is China. Let's hope PG gets the same luck for WC next year in Paris where the French crowd will be behind him.

Yes, PG has great chance here.........hope he could beat CJ/BCL in SF....:D

If LCW can play two SS finals consecutively and win the second final, how can the first tournament tire him out?
PSH and HYH can be handfuls for LD? (NTM, maybe, since he's still improving and no video can ever be up-to-date yet) PSH is very beatable now. JOJ ended his WC journey. Why, even HH of MAS fame, also defeated PSH and his coach Hendrawan saw that as progress...But I wonder why LM is not allowed to coach PSH courtside (in China.)

Maye he is more aware now...........the 'flying racquet' might happen anytime....it happened in Korea once but now is in China,....even more dangerous...:D:D:D
volcom 09-12-2009, 10:26 PM Cos LM will make hell of a difference yah?
ike he did for the past year.
extremenanopowe 09-13-2009, 03:57 AM redraw or not, I love to watch them have a go at each other. Lets see who drops out of SS first. ;)

That would be the game to watch in CM...if it is not for CM at home (which would be difficult to explain to CHN fans why their own best player doesn't play in their own tournament and a foreigner may win), I doubt LD would even play, not that he fear losing or what, but more that I think he wants to rest his body and not risking injury and exposure, so he can rest and only concentrate on winning majors what really are the tournaments that enhance his legendary status as the best of the best in years to come...I think one or two AG gold and another OLY gold are really LD remaining goals before he pack it in...have LD won JO before? if so winning another JO and another one and then another one makes no difference, same medal and petty winning cheque for all the hard work which he makes more by not playing and sit at home just endorsing...the losers are the paying fans...really!...that is my 2 cents comments;)
ctjcad 09-13-2009, 05:41 PM ...have LD won JO before?

seriously, PSH and Hsieh Yu-hsin? I don't think so and I agree with pjswift. is there any player in this world who could tire LD that easily? The latest longest match he ever got to play was that match with SDK in WC... perhaps NTM is able to tire him but definitely not those two above...

OT: Rafa lost! T___T anyone watching this match might remember the last WC QF between LCW and SDK... so many deuces and so many heartbreaks.... Whatever he did, Rafa just couldn't break the wall of Potro.... frustrating!
oh, btw, I don't really care who play who in this CM cos I still be watching... it's just the decision to re-draw kinda annoyed me...

LD is someone well-known for his ehem, great achievements... so, why would I want to see LCW play him as early as even SF... to watch both plays in the final is much more worth it... besides, even if LCW lost in that final match, I know he'll still be bringing back home the cash...:D;):D but if he lost in that SF match...:crying::crying::crying:

You are right, LD won JO06...but you know what, that TH guy is quite smart...I have 2 theory, first knowing that there is no way to win the 2nd game, why waste energy and got all tired up so TH just gave up and pick up the runner-up cheque, thank you very much, very smart indeed ;) second, why prolong the suffering, so he tap into the net to end the game early so he can have an early shower and the fans can go hunt for Japs cuties:p:D
george@chongwei 09-14-2009, 03:30 AM Seems like this china masters 2009 have got no qualification round.

eh, dont underestimate PSH or HYH leh..;) They might spring some surprise to us, who knows? U have to know either player vs lin dan wil be the battle of the army as both Park and hsieh is an army;).. remember, anything can happen. And upsets DO exist in this world:D:D

limsy 09-14-2009, 07:35 AM how can psh trouble lindan when he cant even beat hafiz?
dont dream about it
Even Tien Minh may not be able to tire out Lin Dan. Tien Minh is an attacking player, he will smash on any high ball even though it won't kill the opponent. His phylosophy is "the best defense is continuos offense" which I kind of agree to certain extend. If you watch the recent matches Tien Minh played against Hafiz and Choon Hann, he just smashed whenever he possibly could, in position or out of position, and was pretty effective. Will that work against Lin Dan? Lin Dan better be preapre for this type of attacking style, not fancy but effective. Tien Mihn reminds me Chong Wei when under Li Mao, one phylosophy, attack, except Chong Wei has better racket skill than Tien Minh but TM certainly has more determination.
Tien Mihn is the upcoming player to watch.

While NTM has the desire, passion and dedication for badminton, he lacks the resources in training, coaching and financial backing that Datuk has...also NTM is no more a spring chicken, time running out:p:D
