View Full Version : Kim Dong Moon vs. Jonas Rasmussen
Unfortunately, Rikke Olsen and I lost the semifinal to Kim Dong Moon and Lee Kyung Won 11/8 11/5
We played a very good first set and went 6/4 and 8/7 up, but we made a couple of easy mistakes and Kim Dong punishes these kind of mistakes very efficiently.
Considering it was our first tournament together we played very good and I´m confident for the coming two tournaments Realkredit Danmark Open and German Open.

Commiserations Jonas and Rikke.
Just what does it take to beat Kim?
it will take a giant.
3/11 11/6 11/5 is a pretty good score, Jonas, any comments?
Erm.... hi Mr. Rasmussen.... I really like Kim Dong Moon but I'm STILL wishing you good luck in any future match against him! :p

hello, Mr. JR,
how do you do?
what an honor to leave a message for a professional badminton player!
here is my question.
Even though I've known of, heard, and read about Kim Dong Moon for some time,
I've not been fortunate enough to actually get to watch him play.
here in US, badminton is next to invisible.
I have always been curious what kind of a player he is.
I read that he is a great player and blah blah blah,
but, as an opponent, what do you think of him?
what makes him a successful badminton player?
in which criteria, do you think he is better than others?
also, does the Danish team(MD and MX) have special game plans against him and his partners?
I hope you don't mind answering questions about an opponent.
and congretulations on your great showing in the Sudirman Cup!

Judging from the fact that
you skipped to respond to my question,
I guess you do mind answering about other players.
Sorry about posting this question...
Hi Robinhood!!
I´ll be glad to answer this one. I´ve just missed this one, sorry!!
In the last year I´ve played Kim Dong Moon several times, mostly mixed. One of the things that makes him good is his incredible foresight. He reads his opponents next move and change his game toward that.
He and Ra are very good in the first 3 strokes in every ralley and this is where they get many easy points from their opponents. His personality is very calm and in control, but he´s been lacking this the last two tournaments in Japan and Korea.
As for which exact gameplan I would use against him I´ll think I´ll keep that one for myself, sorry. This is an open forum and everyone could take advantage of it, not that I mistrust you.
One of the things that is very important to do against him is not to be too afraid to play him and shave off the humillity. Just go for it and do your best might be the best tactic.
Kind Regards
Jonas
