Lower-top shoe

I've tried a bunch of tennis shoes (nobody sells badminton shoes around here), and they all ride a little too high on my ankle, and bother me on that "ball" that protrudes from the inner ankle.

Can anyone recommend a shoe suitable for badminton that has a low profile on top?

I'd rather keep it cheap - I'm new to the sport and don't want to sink a lot of cash yet
