Are you going to get enough lady participants to match up with the guys?? ;)

SuperBird
09-21-2009, 12:05 PM
If not, I will bring some Nice long hair Wigs to balance things out. :)

It going to be a fun match, so you can pick your own lady or we can set you up doing the time of the match.

..could be mistaken for guys also, ya know...

What you need to bring along is extra skirts...;)

*I'm pondering of joining this one (depends on schedule)......and i'll gladly wear the skirt...;)
**There should be enough ladies participants, if we pass the word around ABC; still got more than 1 week to go..
***Eddie, if the guys get to pick the ladies player, what if the team strength is not balanced (lady player in 1 pair is stronger than the other lady player in another pair)?...Hmm, this is gonna be tricky...

Let's just have some FUN. So it up to your conscience to Smash at the Lady(usually a weaker one). And if you are up by 5pts or more---->>Try to be nice to your opponents. (i haven't seen this happen YET): beside the point, it very difficult to start ranking & trying to put everyone in a balance scale. Only, if my SuperBird Tournament cost is $20.00 to enter. Then We will need to put ranking & balance with A,B,C,D division. For $5.00---> It's all fun & game. :)

..thanks for the infos & confirming, Eddie.:) I guess there was the Bruin Open this past weekend, thus some of the regular ABC players couldn't make it.
I've invited some other people to join (trying to get more ladies players), not sure if they'll join or not.
Another question to ask: what scoring system will we use? Or will there be several options to choose and we're going to go w/the majority of the vote deciding what scoring system to use?

Update: Will be post today @ ABC.

SuperBird
10-12-2009, 08:12 PM
Scoring system will be based on # on players; and we will give several option to choose from before the start of the tournament. We want to run this tournament within 3-4hrs. This is going to be a fun friendly tournament design to give the ladies members the confident to play. So please take it easy on the Ladies.

Free drinks (Soda & Water) will be provided for all participants.

Eddie, any clarification on this query??..
for the recent superbird single tournament abc did charge entrance fee even though I asked if it could be lowered or waived. Since I was going to just participate in the tournament and leave right after not playing anymore so technically I just need a couple hours pass not day pass).

SuperBird
10-13-2009, 11:17 PM
Entry FEE: $5.00 per person
You don't need a partner: Guys or females pick random out of box for partner.

Let me try to discuss this with William to see if we can Give you a discount for playing our Tournament on your Entrance FEE. We try our Best to balance things out w/ the tournament cost & do as much as we can to lessen the cost of each participants. And make it Enjoyable for everyone. thx. Hope to see you on the next SuperBird Event.

Please pass some words out for the FEMALES: I know we don't want to start using long hair wigs for Early Halloween. :) Let make this friendly and Fun.

SuperBird
10-14-2009, 12:33 AM
A. Member's club entrance will be free. In order for any non-member
to play in ABC, they have to pay the entrance fee.

B. It's impossible to keep track of anyone come to play just for
SuperBird or play on any court before or after.

C. The $5 Tournament Fee will go back to the winners not goes to ABC.

Thanks
William

FREE WATER & SODAS WILL BE GIVEN OUT FOR ALL PLAYERS--by Eddie :)

We are allowed to pick our own partner right? :)

SuperBird
10-14-2009, 11:46 AM
We will try to separate 2 groups: Stronger player(A)(females or males)---will pick a random partner from a box of name of ( a weaker players). So far this system has been working great in trying make a balance in the game & making it more excitement to play with a new partner:females or males.

But you said we can pick our own :crying:

I don't know if my partner will play if we'll need to play with someone else....we're both D players so........ :)

ionoo
10-14-2009, 04:40 PM
ya i think the drawing for random partners should only apply if people don't have their own partners.

SuperBird
10-14-2009, 05:00 PM
Come early, so Sammy & I can see how strong your lady partner is. We try to put the strongest player to pick a random D level or weaker partner. Not sure it will be fair for you to have D & D level partner: We will try to work things out at the tournament. We need to see how many ladies players we have. If everyone is OK with that, you can stick with your partner. We try to encourage friendship and most of all, Have a good time. And win some PRIZES AS WELL.

ctjcad
10-14-2009, 05:39 PM
..i consider myself a D, maybe even a D- player. So, can i get a stronger female player as my partner???..

ya i think the drawing for random partners should only apply if people don't have their own partners.
..hmm, i kinda like this idea..but then, what if there is 1 super pair playing? most likely that pair is going to romp all the way and win the whole bling-bling-bling..hmm..
Mix and match 'em??..
But i do like a longer scoring format, perhaps til 30 pts (1 game)..
Eddie, are you planning to reserve enough courts, just in case a lot of players/pairs turn up?

10-14-2009, 06:11 PM
hmm....i might enter just for the hell of it...:D

SuperBird
10-14-2009, 10:56 PM
So far, We got at least 10 pairs.

If we go beyond 15 pairs...we are getting another Court. But, since we are playing doubles, we might use open courts for Consolation.

Every pairs will play 2 rounds:

1 rounds will be 21pts and the Winners of every round will be 21pts If you don't lose a game.

Consolation rounds will be 15pts. ONLY 21pts if we don't have less # of pairs to make game longer. This will be decided among players.

16pairs show up: The winners of all rounds will be playing total of 7 (21pts matches): I think that is a lot of matches. We don't want this tournament to go beyond 4hrs: We need to go to dinner & have time with the family too on Sunday.

The Final rounds will be played best of 3 games to 21pts: Players will have the option of pts. system and rounds.

ctjcad
10-15-2009, 03:38 AM
..if i understand the scoring format:
- Each pair will play in the main draw using 1 game of 21 pts (straight).
- Once a pair loses, then the pair will play in the Consolation Rd. Winning pair moves on.
- Consolation Rd. is also 1 game of 15 pts (straight).
- Not quite sure by this "16pairs show up: The winners of all rounds will be playing total of 7 (21pts matches)"??..7 of what??..
Sorry if i misunderstand..:p

----->this statement is just telling you that the winning pairs will be playing many rounds as they more up the LADDER. :)Sorry for the confusion.

Everything you confirm is corrected. So far that is the idea ways of the pt. system at the moment. We might need to make a little tune-up before the game to make it clear & happy for the majority of the players.:)

Feel free to come & talk to Sammy & Me-Eddie if you misunderstand something or have a request you like. Then we will ask all players to do a quick vote on it. :)

..that's what i thought as well & thanks for confirming.
As for my request, i only have 1. In case there are less than 16 pairs, that is to have an option to extend the scoring format to 30 pts (either split into 3 games, 10 pts each; or 2 games, 15 pts each).

- Paul, of course anyone can join. The more, the merrier..
- Paul, you are welcome to play in every single "Superbird" tourney. Having more ladies players is better than less. Of course, having more players/pairs will bring another challenge for the organizer to plan the tourney..
- Eddie already mentioned (see post #21), a few posts back, there is no club entry fee if one is already a member of ABC (just need to pay $5 for tourney entry fee).

..sorry, i meant to say it's a 1 game of 30 pts but at 15 pts, the pairs switch sides. First to 30 pts, no deuce. Not 2 games of 30 pts.

..n3w813 (Brian) and his partner (Winnie??) for winning the SuperBird's XD tourney.
You both were the best pair (most balanced) and of course, by chance, the most fortunate as you guys have played together before (today's format was through a random pairing & who knew both of you were destined to play together).;)

Yes, as expected, a few other interested participants had to drop out due to the lack of ladies players.
Good turn-out nonetheless (14 pairs) and i believe the tourney was finished within the alotted time period.

..the last time i checked & counted, there were 14 pairs. They had to put up a 16 pairs bracket for the draw purpose (it's gonna be either 8, 16, 32 or 64 bracket). I believe 2 pairs got a bye in the main draw/1st rd.

Congratulation to Trang & Eddie for all the hard work, effort they have put in to make the Superbird events as great as it is today. Players are always excited about the next one. As far as I know, Eddie has not scheduled another event yet,but you will be the first one to know when he decide to have one. Eddie and Trang have been doing all the work by themself, and I understand quite often they had to spend their own money to make the event great for the participants. Let's give them both "Hi Five" where credit dues. It takes a lot of time to edit and post the pictures and videos for us all to enjoy. Let's not forget that. Please give them a High Five to show our appreciation next time we see them.
Happy Swinging!!!:):):):):)
