I saw this little gadget called a shock absorber which was supposed to be attached to the strings near or ontop of the t-joint (not sure about this but i think so). Is it effective?

Is it effective? modious 10-30-2002, 07:43 AM It's for tennis. Stalker 10-31-2002, 03:40 AM Is it also effective for badminton? kwun 10-31-2002, 12:18 PM it will take away all the shock. but it will also take away all the feeling of the racket. you can experiment. the absorber is nothing more than a piece of foam. just stick a piece of foam above the T. and see if you like it. i hated it as i wasn't able to feel the shuttle anymore. badminton is a much more delicate sport than tennis, so the extra feel/feedback is very important. Actually, I think good strings should already be designed to absorb shock. Therefore, the majority u should feel is the "touch" or "feeling" as u call of ur racket. Therefore, with the little "bounces" of the string, it will help ur control. Personally, I won't put anything extra on my string, after the racket is strung with my desired string with proper tension. jwu 10-31-2002, 02:33 PM Don't think it would be a good idea to put that on your badminton strings since feel is quite important for badminton. For tennis, you need that since the impact of the tennis ball is much stronger than say a badminton shuttle and for your strings and your wrist's sake, it would be nice to have a shock absorber. neverland 10-31-2002, 07:58 PM Why dont u put the foam under ur shoes...:D muahaha Stalker 10-31-2002, 09:03 PM Well, I bought some anyway! Their pretty cheap. I'll be trying them maybe tomorrow. jwu 11-01-2002, 11:37 AM cool, let us know how it work out for you. :) |
