Danstevens 10-12-2009, 01:33 AM Record a video of you playing, upload it to Youtube or something similar and then post the link here. Me and some other forumites will look at your video and give you some indication of where you're at in terms of your current badminton ability. flyingfox 10-12-2009, 03:44 AM hi all, newbie here so most probably u get a lot of these questions but how do i know what level am i at?? where can i find the guide or definition? thks all. No, All i answered no to was playing twice a week regularly, having coaching for 6 months and placing in national competition and it gave me 8.9 It'll be a relative scale, i.e. what you get isn't important except compared to others. exalted 10-12-2009, 07:33 AM pretty nifty quiz, I liked it! I answered to the best of my ability (maybe a "tad" modestly), and got 6.8, which I think is really accurate (if anything, it should be lower due to my shabby footwork and reliance on dumb power) mhigham 10-12-2009, 07:43 AM how can you tell it's accurate when you don't know what the scale is, etc linear, logarithmic? What does the score mean to you? It's just a number at the end of the day and there's nothing to say a 6.8 couldn't whip a 7.8's *ss. Just my 2cents Danstevens 10-12-2009, 09:44 AM how can you tell it's accurate when you don't know what the scale is, etc linear, logarithmic? What does the score mean to you? Just my 2cents I agree, I still thought it was a good idea though. twobeer 10-12-2009, 11:05 AM Anyone answering "yes" to "Are you always in a good position to execute your shots?" is a liar in my view :-) I've seen even Lin Dan out of position :-) /Twobeer hhwoot 10-12-2009, 12:05 PM Anyone answering "yes" to "Are you always in a good position to execute your shots?" is a liar in my view :-) I've seen even Lin Dan out of position :-) Have to agree that this quiz is too subjective. Some of the questions stress "consistent" while others do not. Does that mean a beginner who can forehand smash once out of a hundred times answer yes to that question? Also, what is "consistent"? 8 out of 10? 9 out of 10? 99 out of 100? The idea of a quiz may be good, but it needs to ask for more concrete answers. Such as: How fast (and how long) can you do the shuttle pickup? What is your reaction time? How many times out of 100 can you successfully execute a certain shot? Danstevens 10-12-2009, 12:44 PM Anyone answering "yes" to "Are you always in a good position to execute your shots?" is a liar in my view :-) I've seen even Lin Dan out of position :-) /Twobeer I thought the same thing when I read that question actually, no matter how good you are, your opponent will probably get you out of position at one point or another during the game. I can only assume they are referring to shots that you should be able to get in to position for (although that's a grey area as well). simon224 10-13-2009, 06:37 AM I agree with Dan, it's all relative. Competitions are the only real way to judge your rating. My positioning is almost perfect when I play against lesser players but I'm all over the place when playing against better ones. On a club night I can read everyone but in league matches I get caught out. |
