Okay, so I'm curious about how people are setting up their ZS, so I've decided to to start a thread on it (mostly because mine kinda sucks as-is). Cut and paste the following rating system for how you've currently got yours set up :

Racket Spec - 3UG4
Strings - BG80
Tension - 24lbs Main / 23lbs Cross
Player Level - 3.5/10 (1 being "I just started", 5 being A-Grade State-level club player, 10 being top 50 in the world)
Offense - 7/10
Defense - 6/10
Power - 7.5/10
Touch - 5/10

I'm going to restring mine with Ashaway PG66 at 23lbs to see if I can improve it's touch and short game.

I'm hoping that this will help various players of all different abilities help set theres' up, because I think this is a racket that needs careful set-up to eek out it's potential.

hmm crosses lower than mains... why so?

I dunno, it might be the other way around, I forget.

Mine (purchased only on 5th OCT)

Racket Spec - 3UG4, SP version
Strings - BG65 (winter coming to Beijing. BG66/80 will snap fast in winter)
Tension - 29lbs
Player Level - 3.7/10 (BSR 5.7, been playing socially for 20 years, as alternative gauge)
Offense - 9.5/10
Defense - 6/10
Power - 9.5/10
Touch - 6/10

Hope this helps. I only uses this baby for around 7 hours of play so far. Still need plenty of getting used to, in my opinion. (I can adapt to my LN N55 and Zelm Trixon 8 in less than 3 hours respectively)

Cheers

Easy Tiger, do you mean 23/24? The way you have it stringed sounds like you want to turn your racket into a ball!

Racket Spec - 3UG4, JP version
Strings - NBG98
Tension - 28lbs

Only practice for 15 mins...

Like Indiana Jones's whip
"Player with the new Arc"

Shaft is flexible but power is good.
Need some time for adjustment.

Hope it pays off!

actually in Kim dong moon competing years, he string his racket at higher tension for the main strings than the crosses.

That's true, but Kim is professional - that's a different story since he can get free rackets. Can't exactly tell how good it is for the racket however over time.

Just love the racket ! it's brilliant! I like it with basic grip. I tried a towel grip but the smash is less powerful.

why do you guys all have 3U, lol

Racket Spec - 2UGx (dunno, as I always tear off the original grip and add my own directly to the wood)
Strings - tried BG66@30, snapped in 10 mins, tried BG85@30, snapped after 1 week, will probably try BG85@28 next
Player Level - 3.5/10 (1 being "I just started", 5 being A-Grade State-level club player, 10 being top 50 in the world)

We have 3U because that's all that was available. It's heavy enough as it is.

Just got my racket yesterday and played 1 hr or so with it.
Racket Spec - 3UG4
Strings - BG65
Tension - 24lbs
Player Level - 4.5/10
Offense - 6/10
Defense - 5/10
Power - 6/10
Touch - 5/10

Better feeling with AT900 Power (played for over year and a half)
Offense - 8/10
Defense - 7/10
Power - 9/10
Touch - 8/10

Hope I won' be disappointed with the ZS and will get use pretty fast....

time spent about 4-6 hrs
Racket Spec - 3UG4
Strings - BG95
Tension - 28lbs
Player Level - 1-2/10
Offense - 9/10
Defense - 7/10
Power - 8.5/10
Touch - 8/10

arc10 (played for a year)
String- BG98 @ 27 lbs
Offense - 9/10
Defense - 8/10
Power - 8/10
Touch - 8/10

if i cant take it anymore ( subjective feeling of loss of power) i will cut the strings from the zslash and go to BG98 @26 lbs, otherwise i will wait for the strings to break. i feel arc10 is better defense wise while zslash has more potential for power.

Racket Spec - 3UG4
Strings - Nanogy 98
Tension - 24lbs
Player Level - 3/10
Offense - 8.5/10
Defense - 8/10
Power - 8.5/10
Touch - 8/10

I find this string much better than the NBG95 which I previously had on!

Told ya the 95 is rubbish

Jaha yeahh touches and control are way better! Though I think there is a slight decrease in power/offense. However the improvement in touch/control is huge.

I would recommend the NBG98. Have you restrung yours already?

It is because 3U is the common weight available. The 2U is available mainly to the Japan (JP coded) market - it would have to be imported to obtain it.

What is the price for Arc-ZS? Btw, the Arc-ZS frame is smaller than normal racket....:D

Nah I just changed my attitude and went in harder and just forgot about the racket. I can pull off some outrageous defensive shots now with it, but they took a long time coming.

Player level: uh... just started palying in tournaments this year, been playing once a week for 2/3 years now , but this year 6 days a week
weight: 3U
Grip: G4
string: BG66 at 26

I don't really know how to rate this racket seeing how it's my very first high end racket. but after playing with it for one session I can feel the power that can be unlocked and will be looking forward to go all the way with this racket =)

could someone please tell me the bp of the arc z please on the 3u
cheers

Easy Tiger
11-04-2009, 11:22 PM
Errr......I never bother weighing the bp and just go by feel, but I guess you could say because it's an ArcSaber it's fairly evenly weighted.

Mine is at the heavy end of the 3U spectrum so it feels very solid in the hand.

after my 3 hour session today i must say, switching from NBG95 to NBG98 has been the best decision made in terms of my Arc Z. It is a fantastic string that really compliments the racket :)

OK ive read the threads and it seems theres alot of different opionions i normally string all my rackets to 26lbs with BG80 Yellow, l play with ns8000 at club level but also have ns9900/ arm900tec/ arc10 and now the arc z slash( just arrived today), so the question is do i stick with restring the racket to 26lbs to keep is similar to my other rackets or is there a better way lol

Easy Tiger

Can't see a reason to string it any differently.
