View Full Version : Malaysian brand badminton brand/manufacturer?
Pemuda 10-13-2009, 10:25 PM Guys & gals,
I must admit I am a novice when it comes to badminton racquets. I have a couple of racquets from Yonex, Apacs & Finnex. But out of curiosity, is there a Malaysian made racquet in the market? If yes, I would appreciate if you could provide me the brand info and where to go to look for it as I am pretty game to get one.
Many thanks.
There was a Sidek Brand before. :)
Maybe you can still find it.
bob_jabba83 10-14-2009, 12:21 AM i heard bendini also is a local product. Why don't you check it out.:)
winstonchan 10-14-2009, 08:58 AM A Malaysian brand may not necessarily have their rackets made in Malaysia, vice & versa, non-Malaysian brands may have their rackets made in Malaysia...
Example of Malaysian brands - Proace, Apacs
Example of non-Malaysian brands with rackets made in Malaysia - some (not all) models from Domino, Viva, Tactic (in the past).
Wan Njang 10-14-2009, 06:22 PM Now we have Misbun brand...just log in to Nusa Mahsuri website to see this racket. I beleive KX also is a local product...
Jurong 10-14-2009, 06:56 PM There is a Malaysian brand called prospeed, and the person to contact is Adam.
Regards
Jurong
teoky 10-14-2009, 07:09 PM I think KX badminton is also Malaysian brand ?

Hey Ants,
From what I been reading in the Equipment section, I think you are the go to guy when it comes to racquets as I think you know your stuff.
I have posted pics of my racquets in that racquets pic thread. I play some badminton every now and then. The last time was in early August. I dont get to play much mainly due to interest and my ankle. But since reading a of stuff and info in the Equipment section, you can say I am keen to find a racquet that can hit out powerful smashes. I play mainly doubles. I think I am an attacking player as I love smashing. I would rate my skills as ok la.
So, dude ... my 1st priority is to get a Malaysian made racquet that is the hardest hitting. Any suggestion?

Thank you for your kind compliment Pemuda. I'm still learning the ropes Well frankly speaking.. i hardly have time to see or even touch any Malaysian Brand rackets. So i can't really give you any suggestion.
Even if i can, i would only can suggest those that i've tried and use. But then it may not be fair for other brands that may be better than those that i've tried.
Maybe you can ask the locals around your area or probably those in Klang Valley in regards to Malaysian brand rackets. Im talking about Malaysian brand. But not necessary that equipment have to be made in Malaysia.
george@chongwei 10-15-2009, 09:24 AM There's a Lee Chong Wei brand too out there:cool:
Yes. Lee Chong Wei brand is not for sale. :)
george@chongwei 10-15-2009, 09:30 AM But his grip brand are for sale:)
haha

In that case, bro, in your opinion, whats the hardest hitting monster out there?
* and by the way, my reply in that Malaysia Boleh thread is not whacking you. I meant in general. If I sound aggressive, I am sorry. I will tone down.

No worries bro. The ever Controversial Pemuda.. I like it that way. Make life more fun. Really im serious. It is a compliment. Make me think also before i respond.. if not my brain will get rusty.
Hardest hitting monster non yonex? No idea..hehehe Victor probably. :P
ctjcad 10-15-2009, 01:19 PM ..and another brand from malaysia is Yangyang..
..i know their shuttles were sold in M'sia..
I've tried a couple of the newest YangYang rackets here, in the states. Both are very light but somewhat head-heavy. One of which is exactly identical to the Yonex AT900T.
Not sure if they're made in M'sia or not.

...
..doubles players usually prefer something that's light/quick for maneuverability.
There are many rackets that can aid in generating powerful smashes. But, as you mentioned before, it's the player not the racket that generates the powerful smashes.
You can try our BC member's (DinkAlot) own brand of racket, Panda Power rackets (check out the thread; even has a dealer in PJ).;)
http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=69342&page=33
Also, what's your budget range?..

Yes, when I play I play mainly doubles but I am more like my fav player Tan Boon Heong, I prefer playing at the back, raining them smashes down. I dont like standing in front of the net as I dont have those delicate feminine touch like KKK. Of my racquets, I use the Yonex MP77 as my main racquet. I consider my smashes as decent. Technique and skills wise ... lets just say, when it comes to sports and maybe women (babes only), I am quite a natural ;).
After reading thru all the comments and info in this section, I am curious to get a racquet that can add to my skills, technique, natural good looks in order to deliver additional oomph in my smash department. I would prefer to get a Malaysian made one but if the quality is not there, I am open for others as well.
As for budget wise, not more than RM800.
Pemuda 10-15-2009, 08:16 PM Hardest hitting monster non yonex? No idea..hehehe Victor probably. :P
Bro,
Include Yonex and everything, whats the hardest hitting monster out there? Please give me the brand & model, est price range and where to get it.
Sealman 10-15-2009, 08:39 PM Yes, when I play I play mainly doubles but I am more like my fav player Tan Boon Heong, I prefer playing at the back, raining them smashes down.
You should consider TBH's current racquet - YY NS9900 :)

Let me wait for my sifu of badminton racquets & bro, Mr. Ants' advise. If he tell me that NS9900 is the hardest hitting of all the monsters, I will get it. I want to be like Nadal, dishing out em' powerful hits.
How much is the price range for this thing? I got to sacrifice clubbing for 3 weeks, at least I get to own a good piece of equipment than coming home drunk.

..my main man, i have another option.
i think our bro, ants, is a Yonex specialist. So, if you're specifically looking for a Yonex racket, then ants is da man.;)
However, if you want to check out other racket flavors, other than Yonex, you might want to check out our DinkAlot's racket review. He's basically touched, tested and played w/nearly as many rackets out there as one can imagine.
http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=45209
Btw, your budget range is pretty generous..
Haha thank you for your very kind compliments people. Im not a specialist or anything near that. I just love badminton like all of you. If you want SPECIALIST.. DinkAlot is the one you should ask. He has broken and tried more rackets than in my lifetime.
For Bombers i can only narrow down to few ones to no particular orders. AT700,NS9900,ti-10,ARCZ,AT900P and NS9000 X. Now depends on wether that person is more towards a head heavy or headlight racket.

Thanks, dude ... I am reading now about Dinkalot's review. Who is this guy anyway? Looking at the stuff he bought/reviewed, he must be a millionaire a couple of times over. He is generous too when it comes to sharing.
Budget range wise, its only money. We can always make it back or in my case , cut down on clubbing for a couple of weeks and I will have something tangible and of some quality.
Pemuda 10-16-2009, 11:33 AM Ok boys, after reading DInkalot's racquets review, I am going to go for the Apacs Nano Pro 9900 because according to Dinkalot, its the hardest hitting racquet out there with an overall excellent rating.
Will try to look for this racquet this weekend.

- Who is DinkAlot aka BC Panda? Well, he is a local BC member (here in the states). I know he used to enjoy tennis but for some reason, he saw the light, tried out badminton and we all know, the rest is history.
- Yes, you should read his "history". He was quite famous for his racket..err bamboo breaking ability..
- Yes, he's quite generous. I'd say he got to try some of the rackets through "racket swapping".
- As for your budget and racket choice, you can take another couple weeks off from clubbing. I read LinDan's Li Ning N90 (Wood) is quite popular and i heard it's quite powerful. You should read your buddy, Oldhand's, rave review on the racket.;) Here's the catch though, it'll costs you a bundle..:p

..that Apacs 9900 is classified as a Singles racket but you prefer to play Doubles mah??..
..i heard his Panda Power racket lines (Utra & Trinity) pack a similar punch as well...
Yes, he has a dealer in PJ (M'sia).

Apacs Nano Pro 9900 is listed as hardest hitting and I want the hardest hitting monster out there. Singles, doubles or mixed doubles dont matter to me. Now is that Utra & Trinity harder hitting than Apacs Nano Pro 9900? Panda brand?
Yup Panda Brand and certified.

Pulish 10-18-2009, 01:51 AM I think RCL or RSL is also a malaysian badminton brand;)
Nope, if it's RSL. It has a strong presence in neighboring Singapore where like YY got its SP code. But they had rackets with special Malaysia edition. It is originally from England.
Sportech 10-18-2009, 05:35 AM they had rackets with special Malaysia edition. [/quote]

ctjcad 10-19-2009, 01:08 AM I finally talked with an older gentleman who is M'sian, has badminton connection in M'sia & owns a couple M'sian brand rackets. This is what he told me:
- Yes, there are several M'sian brand rackets. Namely: KX, Yangyang, Proace and maybe a couple others.
- No, there are no M'sian made rackets. Even the M'sian brand rackets are made in China. The reason: no one wants to invest thus there is no incentive for opening up a racket manufacturing plant in M'sia.

Bro, isnt Proace a UK brand?
Anyway, I got my Apacs nano pro 9900 and tried it out yesterday. Ok ok lah.
nokh88 10-19-2009, 08:59 PM I think you can easily produce (brand) racquets nowadays. Just go to a badminton making factory in China with their MOQ and walla, you can have brand names like, Pemuda, George@Chongwei or ctjcad.:D. Whether is saleable or not depands on your marketing. I learnt this from one of the local racquet dealer.
Btw, is Yang Yang still based in Batu Pahat?

..i double checked with my M'sian friend and he mis-informed me; yes, Proace is UK brand.
What he meant to tell me are Protech and Prospeed brands; so many "Pro" brands, eh??..
Here are their website:
http://www.protech-sports.com/

Also, there is a RCL brand (has rackets as well):

And here is Yangyang badminton's website:

... or who you are playing against. Dont know about you but I dont rain down smashes or lobs when I play baddy against my kid cousin brother who is 10 yrs old and his sister, 13 with the house's gate as the net. ;)
Next week, I should be able to test the racquet & my Visible Hollow 1800 against some serious and 'older' opponents.

Pemuda 10-20-2009, 09:17 AM I must say I am starting to like the Equipment & stuff section of this forum. Infact, after reading all the info and etc, I am starting to look at badminton in different light.
I am learning a lot about racquets lately. There are so many brands and models out there.

Pemuda 10-26-2009, 08:23 PM I finally tried out the two racquets last night. In terms of overall feel, I would say the Visible Hollow is more 'user friendly' or whatever you call it in badminton terms. In terms of power, I rate the VH1800 8.5/10. Control (net play/drop) 9/10.
The NP9900, when it comes to smashing, I would say if you hit the racquet sweet spot, then bang! I rate the power 9/10 but control wise, 7.5/10.
Both racquets are strung at 28lbs.
In summary, in view of the price for these two racquets, I would say they are a good bargain. And if Apacs is a Malaysian brand, I must say we have done a great job.
My main racquets now would be as follows;
1. Yonex MP77/VH1800 (depends on my mood/opponents)
2. NP9900 (need some more playing time to get use to this baby)

Yeah, it might take a bit while for you to get used to the NP9900.

Attention to details, please ;)
http://www.badmintonforum.com/vb/showpost.php?p=1267185&postcount=553 .... the VH1800 is right infront of you.
I bought the VH1800 back in August and last Sat was the first time I tried it out in an actual game. Great racquet, very easy to use.
As for the pics of my NP9900, I will post it as soon. I just need to run down to my car and get my camera.
ctjcad 10-28-2009, 12:40 AM :p..sorry, it just disappeared from my mind, although i had a feeling you did mention you haven't tried the VH1800 & wanted to try it out soon..
Ok lah, we'll be waiting for a pic or pics of your new NP9900..
Pemuda 10-31-2009, 07:31 AM Tried out the racquet again yesterday evening and I must say I am starting to get the feel of this racquet. Between this and my VH1800, I still say the VH1800 is easier to control/use but if you can get your timing right with this racquet, your smashes are sharp and hard. Control wise, at the net the VH1800 is excellent but given more play time with this racquet, I think the NP9900 is decent.
... and playing badminton on a Friday night is a welcome change to my usual partying and clubbing session. At least I got home early (before 12am) and sober :D. Nice feeling waking up this morning.
