Put it this way,
you need to dedicate your entire life to badminton.
And if you are willing to do something like that, then go ahead.
but be warned, it is a very competitive road, and you'll be versing ALOT of other dedicated players who want to be world no.1.

Most of what those people go through will never come into the limelight and most of us simply can't fathom the amount of effort, physical and mental that went into reaching even the international circuit, let alone world number one. It takes luck (talent), hard work and perseverance to get to the very top.

Off topic, I know a few people from Mauritius :D

The average professional shuttler may not gifted enough to survive in other fields in the private sector outside of badminton. Less than 1% of those who aspire to be the next legend ever get a chance of getting there, and ALL sports are like that in terms of the difficulties in getting to the top.

ya... true... its like a pyramid... for every Lee Chong Wei there is another 100,000 Lee Chong Wei wannabe who fail...

Lee Chong Wei's achievement is similar to becoming TOp Scorer IN SPM... for 5years straight...

Take lotta effort + 1% talent!
