There were some discussion recently where comparison was made about Badminton Player(s) wellfare againts to more conventional careers.

I'd just like stress my point again here that 'any venture into professional sports should not be considered a 'conventional job decision' but for most part... a 'Dream'

For the fun of it,.. here are some of my definitions regarding Sport Career & Dreams.

Pursuing a Dream : Sacrificing a normal life & normal income, by investing their time & resources into training and participating in badminton events.

Living the Dream : The point where an individual succeeds to make an independent living from his dream. Varying levels of success.

Supporting the Dream : Direct & indirect actions which supports a dream of participants. some may be financial, others can be morale support, or guidance & etc. Sugar Mommies & Sugar Daddies do fall in this category...

The Still a Sleep Dreamer : Participants who does not realize that their own livelihood is their own responsibility, pursues the dream but expects living expenses and funding as a Right.

;)

I'll add another:
A 1 Million Dollar BWF Tournament Dream: when? when? when? when will it happen???..

Prospective baddy players are aplenty. But if the incentives (sponsorships) in badminton are lacking or unattractive, where's the future for a pro/independent career, even for those players who've bolted out of their respective national squads??..

yea... about the national players, I have another concept that may explain a mojority of these individuals....

The Programed Dreamer : Individuals put through a 'funded' training their entire / most of their badminton life. They end up not only expecting things to be set up for them, but also distracted about the consequences of their venture into the sport (sacrificing conventional life & livelihood).
These individuals are also mostly not individually dedicated enough to pursue the sport if they were 'out of the program' at any time during the earlier/mid development stages.

The Absent Dreamer : Dreamers who only seem to be actively pursuing the dream when an event is around the corner.
