Good buildup by Simon and lands the smash home.

This is almost too easy for Simon.
Simon's retrieval too wide.

Looking good for Simon 9-4
Go! :)
So far Marc couldn't match Simon speed ya, exhausted for sure

Simon slipped at the back of the court, hope he's not injured.

My hunch regarding kuwichert being Marc is dead wrong... who is
underdog? Marc or Simon?
Go underdog! Go Go Simon!!
abedeng
10-25-2009, 12:18 PM
Court repairers hard at work, Marc gets a breather.
Simon seems to be ok.

10-25-2009, 12:23 PM
Yeah, the order of play seems a bit weird :p
I guess putting MD as the last match will be better too :)
As it will involving 2 seeded pairs, one of them also local hope and the match is expected to be interesting (the result may ended up the other way around, though)
But maybe the OC read this forum, and all the hype about kuwichert, upz i mean Marc Zwiebler :) :)
So they decide to put MS in the last order
..with how the scoreboard is looking now, this MS Final could very well be a dud..:(
The Fed Ex banners on the Chinese shirts are bigger than the Li Ning ones. Is Fed Ex the main sponsor now?
..of course they are still. If you recall, even during this yr's World Championships in India, yes, you were there, the CHN squad was flashing the Fed Ex banner across their tees...
Simon is really not taking the 1st game for granted..or Marc is simply out of sorts..Simon up 19-11..and abt to seal the 1st game..

should Simon wins his first ever SS title, i think he'll owe bang Sony a nice big seafood dinner..After all, all Sony did was to aid Simon by exhausting kuwichert's gallant knight, playing the Semifinals match in 3 games, and now, we all are seeing the effects of it..
Simon is running away as if he wants to finish this match ASAP & get the h*ll out of freezing Denmark...up 9-3..

I wonder if the Russians show badminton on TV?
I see they're getting serious in improving their badminton.
AFAIK they had been showing rather much and well long time...my old coach said that he is mostly/only looking badminton from Russian channels;)... of course here is not any other possibilities also as Estonian nor other European channels practically don't show badminton... last night had some jokes with older boys finding the Eurosport channel was showing the "table soccer" (or whatever the right name is:-) world championships:D
and major Russian competitions are shown on TV also and their vice-president of badminton federation Antropov is commenting them mostly;) ... if I remember correctly he is 2 years younger so we didn't met on court (when we were young:-) but of course he was playing better than me:(
and if you are computer illiterate or just dumbuser or don't have enough time you can buy all video stuff available here in this forum also from Russian online badminton shops:rolleyes: ... just happened yesterday lurking around the Russian badminton sites:)
Russian badminton is going well and we can see some of their players here time to time in different levels... it's popular there and not only the thin top level but also a lot of "recreational" players like me;)

Is so lucky for SS and KKK/TBH to won the title here,....
SS was lucky because he faced an exhausted MZ after a series of hard matches with upsets and can be more ready and prepared for MZ.
KKK/TBH was lucky because there was no Jap and Eng pair in their way to final, and dont have to play MK/HS in the final...............
Anyway, Congratulation to all winners in Danmark Open 2009.

It was unexpected that Simon Santoso will win his FIRST SS title in Denmark as he's only seeded 5th. Which is why luck played a huge role last week as he did not have to play any seeded player, except for Jan O Jorgensen
Who would have thought that Chen Long and Peter Gade would lose to Marc Zweibler and Jan O Jorgensen respectively. Also, Sony Dwi Kuncoro lost to the in-form GER player.
No doubt about that, even though Simon won the title, I would say that the player of the tournament will go to Marc Zweibler! Very much uncontested in the way he beat seeded opponents left and right in entering the FINAL!
As for Markis Kido/Hendra Setiawan's defeat, it was quite expected as they were up against Mathias Boe/Carsten Mogensen and Hendra was also not in his best form this week

I have a question here. Approaching the final moment of the match between koo/tan vs boe/morgensen, i have no idea on earth how can the umpire, a lady, gave KKK a yellow card when KKK raise up his racket to ask the tournament referee to come over for further explanation? what is the reason? YEah, as gill clark said, the player have the RIGHT to ask the tournament referee to come over. But during yesterday's match, i can see that the Tourney referee just sit his ass over there(sorry:D) and act as though like nothing happen when KKK raise his racket up to ask him come over. So bias..
Anyway, im happy that koo/tan manage to win THE DENMARK OPEN SS 2009:)

For the benefit of those who didn't watch the finals of MD, this was what happened in the decider:
The turning point for the Malaysians was in the rubber game when they were trailing 15-16 in the rubber game.
Boon Heong served to Boe but the shuttle hit a moving Mogensen. Instead of calling it a point, the umpire Carol Ui Fhearghail of Ireland allowed a let that saw Kien Keat reacting furiously.
He challenged the call but the umpire insisted that it did not touch Mogensen and even an intervention from national coach Rosman Razak to seek help from the tournament referee fell on deaf ears.
Kien Keat was flashed a yellow card but the episode became a blessing for the charged up Malaysians as they dropped just one point to reel home the title.

Yup. Replay has been shown a few times and it was obvious that the shuttle hit Mogensen's stomach.
Gillian Clark was repeatedly calling it "ridiculous" and stressed that Koo has the right to call the tournament referee. She also mentioned that it's such a shame for this to have happened in a high-level finals.
How could the tournament referee ignore Koo's request? The Danes knew they didn't reserve to win. The Malaysians kept their cool and won it.
Koo/Tan are something like 13-2 in finals. The only losses came in Japan Open 2006 finals to Candra/Tony and ABC 2007 (?) finals to Choong/Lee.

i can only say that the field for MD is too open...
maybe some will not agree with me and rate FHF/CY and JJS/LYD higher
but JJS/LYD lost to Boe/Morgenson in KO final...
so who is the boss?
i think consistency count and FHF/CY have the slight edge..

Koo has matured a lot. In this case, he didn't argue but just tried to explain to the umpire. But the umpire didn't bother to listen and yellowcarded Koo. The tournament referee too ignored Koo's request. He and Tan kept their cool and they won over the guilty Danes! They could still smile after losing the 1st game!

Yup, "How on earth did Mogensen managed to catch the shuttle on the stomach". Where was he standing? Same court as Boe? If different court, then TBH's serve must be very poor, and if same court, how come Boe didn't play the shuttle? I am very curious. I saw the match but miss this incident.

Thanks for the explaination. If it was uncles CTF/LWW, most probably lost already, like what happened in Macau 2007. Haha, some people will critise the smiling part as not having the urgency to win, sure got something they are not satisfied with.;)
In TC 2006, KKK was dramatic in defending CCM when CCM got red card. And often show his anger if unfair call.

Stats are to see the trend, like Msia win Denmark SS ever year since 2007, either MD or WD. Paris normally we dont win in doubles. If not mistaken, INA fans have observed bf Europe & Korea not good hunting ground for INA players. Stuff like that
