I am getting this pain in my racquet knee after a decent playing. It goes away after 3 days for rest. Does anyone have knee pain after playing, say 5 games?

Yeah. My right knee sometimes hurt, due to an early age injury, so, let's count it out. However, if I did not have enough warm up, or, haven't been playing for a period of time, then suddenly jump in a long game, my left knee will hurt as well.

Not sure whether that's ur case.

IcyHot all the way... I always take a hot shower after practice, then, put IcyHot on my knee, and the pain usually goes within 2 days or so.

After-badminton-right-knee-pain started for me two years ago and for a year, i ignored it till it started hurting during play. It got worse, and went for a consult at a sport medical centre. They prescribed some upperleg excercises to be done 15 minutes a day. 3 months later, i was so happy that i could play without the pain and without the post-badminton pain.
So my advice would be to have a consult !

Hi,

This is mainly because you lunge with the racket leg, be it on drop shots or a hard drive when the shuttle is behind you, you tend to stomp with your right leg. This pain does happen to alot of playeds. The best thing to do is consult a doctor and then strap the knee up before playing, along with some deep heat. It is because the knee is a symnovial joint is why your getting these pains, the fluid doesnt lubricate aswell as it is used to due to the excess pressure on the knee. This pain usualy occurs from playing on hard floors. Try rest, deep heat and strap it up. If all else fails, consuslt your doctor.

I usually have pain after playing for 2-3 hours so I'd apply the "Rejuvenation Muscle and Joint Oil" to my knees after showering and they're like new the next day. I have tried many other remedies but this one seems to have the best effect and gives the fastest recovery. I hope everyone who has this kind of problem can benefit from it. Their website is: http://www.edelweissbotanicals.com.

One thing you should check is whether or not your knee is ahead of ankle when you lunge forward. If your quad is not strong enough, you will often time not able to stop yourself and end up having your knee way pass your ankle and that will cause knee pain. If you don't have the strength yet, don't do big lunges yet and train your leg strength by doing lunges or squats with weight.

Hope that helps.

my legs to give out, but my arm gets really tired after strenous activity.. its just so numb and doesn't feel comfortable.. when its really bad, i can't even hold my arm up to recieve serve.. i think it might be my rotatory cup (shoulder meets arm) area,i think i have to get it checked out.

hey mike, yea you should rest your arm then, in the meantime you can just sit tight and wait for ur Ti Swing :p, get well man.

in the past year i've noticed that after a long series of hard baseline to baseline clears my shoulder area, where mike described (rotary cup) and the hamstrings (if there are hamstrings in shoulder??) in my shoulder seem to have some pains, so i've retired from singles most of the time. however i have recently been considering getting back into singles so anyone know of any cures for my damn shoulder??

thanks in advance

Lol! Joe! i thought you were under some other name! yeah joe, if u feeling the pain in the arm, u might wanna get to a doctor and see if u need physiotherapy. thats what happened to me like 2 years ago.. i was diagnosed with Rotatory cup "syndrome" and i went to physio for 2 months.. the pain pretty much stopped after that.. until i started playing badminton again.. so take care dude!

For the footwork issue. make sure you land with the heel of the foot touching the ground first. Then plant the rest of the foot on the ground.

Draw your trailing leg up a little to regain balance, then readjust you right leg as appropriate for the anticipated return.

My quad muscles are pretty strong and I know my is never ahead of my ankles because you don't get power that way. I will pay attention next when I play to make sure my knee is not pass my ankle.

You are getting old Benfok, :D , just kidding. Yeah I tend to feel soreness at my lower back if I jump a lot or depending how how much running and quick stops I do that night, sometime my knee will bother me for a day. Just make sure you stretch yourself out and before you go for any vigorous volleys or hits, be fairly warmed up first.
