From what i see from the world top class badminton players, Only Taufik & Boonsak can produce explosive smash to match Lin dan . Comparing both of them Taufik got better defensive quality..

..that was when the scoring system was still using the 15 pts. Taufik could still afford a more defensive and rally style. The last time Taufik won in a meaningful match over LinDan, using the NSS, was in 2006 AG. Apparently, that was after his debacle in the 2006 Japan Open MS Final. After that, he's never won against LinDan anymore. If Taufik wins against LinDan today, it'll be somewhat of a miracle.

Hendra A. Gunawan/Vita Marissa [7] vs Nova Widianto/Liliyana Natsir [2] -- this will be Nova/Butet's best chance for a farewell title and their first title in Europe. Overall, they deserve that, after having played together since Oct 2004! 6 years of partnership with 2 World Championships titles! Of course, there are disappointing moments when they failed to win the All-England and Olympics Gold Medal last year as well as the World Championships this year. But, I would consider them to be a very successful XD pair, the best INA has for quite a while and it will be hard to replace them :cool:

Lin Dan [1] vs Taufik Hidayat [4] -- safe to say, it will be a miracle if Taufik can beat Lin Dan.

Markis Kido/Hendra Setiawan [1] vs Koo Kien Keat/Tan Boon Heong [2] -- Kido/Hendra are perhaps slowly finding their best form, with the hope that the peak will come at the All-England next year. That will be the ultimate goal! As for the match today, it will be great if the INA pair can beat Koo/Tan. But, given their still-inferior record against the MAS pair, I will not be too disappointed either if they cannot win :cool:

Quite good. Considering how much badminton players spent on shuttles, rackets (and probably internet connection fees), this is a pretty good deal for countries where badminton is never going to make it to TV.:)

Lin Dan's strategy in this match:

unlike his usually strategy, which was playing controlling first, until cannot take a comfortable lead after 15 points over the opponent, in this final with Taufik, LD smashed from the very beginning, You can see from the stats he had 8 smash winners comparing TH only 3 in the 1st game.

after taking the 1st game, LD was back to his original game strategy, and always playing controlling in the 2nd game, that's the reason the score was closer. In fact, in the 2nd game, LD has only 4 smash winners, outnumbered by TH.

From this analysis, we can see LD still treat TH seriously, or he treat the final seriously, at least different from other opponent. It was a little bit like LD in the national game final with BCL, he also smashed from very beginning in that match. That resulted in terrible scores for BCL too.
