Durable Shuttles *BK vs Yonex*

Which ones do you think last longer?

Where I live (Montreal), those pretty much the only 2 I get my hands on..

Everyone here uses Yonex, but after examining them, it would seem that the BK is a little better built. though it may not perform as well..

Any thoughts?

Which model avaiable there? Nylon? Feather?

Durability is surely important, but u also need to consider the speed, spin (shuttle movement while flying in air), hand feeling, even color (depend on ur gym environment).

Overall, Yonex makes good shuttles, but can be pricy if compare to some other brands.

There are different grade of Yonex and BK birds and so are the other brand names. You can tell usually by the price of the birds. Cut birds are not as good as non-cut ones.

In my experience, I think the Yonex ones are the best. They last a lot longer and fly better. Lately, for the last two yrs, there is a tournament sponsored by BK and they have us used the yellow feather ones. What a crap they were :o

dont mean to sound stupid... but whats a cut bird? is it when the end of the wings is rough, compared to finished smooth?

Cut is more like when the tip of the feathers are cut. You can tell when they are all more sharp than rounded. Most lower grade birds that I know of are cut.

If you wish, go buy some cheap birds and the top of the line Yonex and compare them. I'm sure you can tell then.

nope.
300 is cut and the 350 arent cut (smooth edge..)

Try playing with the cut and uncut birds. You can tell the difference. With the high end uncut birds, you don't have to test each birds to make sure they fly well.

I have read somewhere that in the high end uncut birds, only ONE feather is taken from one side of a goose (right or left wing). E.g. in a bird, you will have feathers from 12 or 13 geese.

The 350 and the 300 are nylon you guys. Yonex only brings in the AS 20 and AS 50 in feather. They have also brought in an AS40 for the high altitude(calgary) region only. As far as the 300 vrs. 350 the 350 has a reinforced skirt and will last longer. It also spins more like and flys like a feather shuttle.

Sorry, should have noticed that :o However, I was still referring to feather birds. Thanks for clearing this up sooner before we made more hoo ha of ourselves :p
