For ebay's enquiries and purchases, please refer this thread (http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13655).

seems that this thread isn't working. Many people are still using the other thread to post thier shopping enquires, therefore can you maybe sticky this thread as therefore it will be seen easier by BCers.
Thanks

LOL, where's your patience at?

The serials look fine to me. Although the best way is always to completely remove the whole grip down to the wood and look for (1) the screw joining the shaft to the handle and (2) that Yonex bar code sticker.

Counterfeiters would not even pay attention to such details which can easily be obscured by a layer of grip leather THEN ANOTHER layer of plastic wrap would they? Most people are actually just way too ignorant to understand this fact.

You already have or want to buy? Should be good http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/images/icons/icon14.gif

I have checked in the information of your Yonex
4) ArcSaber 10 shaft Serial:7941896; Cone Code:190983JP (date=19 Sep 2008)
to my information list of Yonex rackets made in Japan, their shaft serials and cone codes are legitimate respectively.

However you still need to inspect the other physical features of the rackets carefully and compare the specifications to ascertain their total legitimacy or authenticity yourself.

The 2nd one is genuine http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/images/icons/icon14.gif and the first one cannot be verified without the complete number http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/images/icons/icon4.png.

The "problem" with shopping enquiries is when you end up not buying them. They will enter "the system" as verified for your username but might also already be in there for the previous owner causing confusion since you would never have owned them. But at least in your case you wrote it was an enquiry but probably the likes of leehsim and ld_rules won't add that extra info in their collection ...

With the cone code provided (180384US) the shaft serial would have to read 753xxxx so as demolidor said, I believe that you have missed out a 7 as the first number of the Serial, therefore making the shaft serial read

7536682 and the cone code would be 180384US this would be a legit racket:)

To spare you the trouble of reposting it here: http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php?13655-eBay-Auction-Watch-amp-Shopping-Enquiries I'll just tell you to stay away ;)

And "Starting bid: GBP 0.99" isn't exactly "price : US$100"

Serials seem to low for both rackets. I think pretty much both are fake rackets.

I think just about everything is wrong with those numbers ;). From the dd/mm/y format to the shaft serial (date 60-58-2005 neither of which is possible to the too low shaft serial). Avoid like the plague ...

That is the shaft serial?!? Sure it's not the sticker number or something? If that is the shaft serial then 100% fake, because should only be 7 numbers. I don't remember seeing anything about "Limited edition Cab8" either ... http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/images/icons/icon13.png

I tried to look up some more info and there has been mention of a Cab 8 Limited but only two times. I would have expected a lot more for such a famous racket. Best is to post pictures since you already own it. Better start a new thread outside of buying enquirie thread http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/images/icons/icon14.png.

we know it from your shaft serial and cone code

shaft serial: 7513715
cone code : 251092CH

shaft serial is one of a kind serial number for each yonex racket that made in Japan (Yonex made in Taiwan has different way to number their racket)
that serial number shows you this is racket number XXX that yonex produce

cone code is the date when they make the racket (and for which area this racket for):
it is based on DDMMYX(and 2 letter code area)
D: day
M: month
Y: year

251092CH
25th of October 2009 for China distribution (China distribution does not means it is made in China, Yonex NS9900 is always made in Japan)
there are many codes, JP for Japan, UK for United Kingdom, TH for thailand, CH for China, etc.

now what we do is to match up the shaft serial and cone code

for 2009 racket, most of them have shaft serial 8XXXXXX - 9XXXXXX
your's is too low 7XXXXXX (I think this is shaft serial for racket production 2007-2008)

it doesn't match up that's why we know it is fake

No problems with the numbers in any case http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/images/icons/icon14.png. Calibre has proven to be legit before and the eBay store is just an outlet/extension of their actual bricks-n-mortar store ... + they are listed on the Yonex Australia website.

Awesome. Thanks!
I came to know that the Yonex Australia website is not genuine. How can we trust that? Here is the link http://www.yonexusa.com/urgentnotice.cfm

I also wanted to add, has anyone noticed that Yonex is repeating the year 0 for the Y in the cone code for year 2010. How can we see year 2000 and 2010 seperate from now on?
I am also curious, how do you check those numbers? What is the secret?

also, that is not only the problem
even if it's 2010 production it's still a fake racket
the reason is the shaft serial is too low for 2010 production

you are the 17th person who has this type of shaft serial and cone code (shaft serial started with 7, production 2009 / 2010)
maybe your friend doesn't even know about it
I watched someone sold it for high price and people buy it because it comes with box, softcloth (it's JP racket), and also 2 overgrip
it looks pretty convincing if you don't know about badminton racket

I want to ask a question about the possibility of repeating numbers to racquets. whether this is possible in principle? I saw an offer to sell racquets at auction and in descriptions were pictures. on one of the pictures were photographed by several badminton rackets with the same code. I guess it's fake because the code does not contain letters, numbers only, but this fact made me ask this question of repetition code.
Can I put a link to these pictures at the auction in order to get your comments about these rackets?

And I want to ask you again about my racket:

shaft serial in Yonex racket made in JAPAN is ONE OF A KIND
arcsaber z-slash i made in Japan, so no, you cannot find two similar shaft serial
but you could find two similar CONE CODE (because basically cone code is the date of the racket being made and Yonex Japan produce around 3000 rackets per day)

yes, you can post the pic in here
but if the cone code does not contain 2 letter that means it's a fake racket

your arcsaber z-slash is a fake racket
and I already said to you that you are not the only one who has this type of racket (started with 7, and production 2009 or 2010)
We have data over thousands Yonex rackets so we know about it

Also fake. Pretty simple, when in the US if you're unsure don't buy anything other than cone code ending on "US". Don't know if it works but: http://yonexusa.com/retail.cfm

Shaft serial is a running production number and should match with the cone code. In the above case the shaft serial/production number has been reached years ago, we are in the 9 million something range by now.

Yes, even the very first ones had the old style cone code. Don't know if JP was different but I don't see a reason why it would be ...

I took a read of the first thread, and can confirm that the seller is really no other than Camel himself, so there is no doubt of him selling rare genuine Yonex racquets :D

As for determining if an old racquet without the shaft serial and code suffix is of JP code, the ever present Japan Consumer Safety "SG" mark will be on the weight and grip specification sticker:

If those are the numbers then it's a fake http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/images/icons/icon13.png. The shaft serial and cone code don't match up ... off by at least 2 months.

Just another question.
Is the incremental number linked to the country ?
ie : 9000000 in 2010 for JP but 7000000 in 2010 for FR possible? Or is it just the same?

And is it a numbre per model or for all Yonex production?

All three seem fakes to me ... such a hard world :(

The most basic and easiest thing you can do is learn about the cone codes. It would at least prevent you from buying the most obvious fakes.

"4280" at the beginning of the code codes would mean that the rackets are produced on the 42nd day of the 80th month, but there are no such days and months.

The first four digits of the cone code show the day and month of production, in the format "DDMM". Days can go from 1 to 28, 29, 30, or 31 (depending on the month and year), while months can only go from 1 to 12, obviously.

Thank you both ... the first one have been more tricky than the latest ones.

All of them are beeing sold on a local (french) very known website (leboncoin.fr) where you can buy all kind of stuff (cars / houses / tools / ...). Very very popular in France.

The two last ones are sold at a quite high price and when I called the seller, he was very confident and his ad is saying "genuine" ... so I wanted to ask you here, to confirm my "noob" judgement.

Again, BIG BIG BIG thanks to you guys.
I'm going now to mail leboncoin's staff in order to get these fake rakets off the market ... I'm afraid how much people fal into the trap.

No problem Zleto :)
I think it would be like craiglist or e-bay (where they do auction or put advert in there)

the first one is not tricky, it is pretty low 7XXXXXX for 2010
many fake rackets have this kind of shaft serial and cone code (started with 7 with cone code production 2009 or 2010)
I found around 20 fake rackets like this

for more detail
cone code:
DDMMYXCC
D: day
M: month
Y: year
CC: distribution area (JP, CH, SP, TH, IP, UK, AS, FR, BX, etc)

usually fake maker target CH, SP and JP code
because SP (Singapore code, also for Indonesia and Malaysia) is area where badminton famous
CH because fake racket usually from China, so they disguise with with CH cone code so it doesn't look suspicious
and for JP (Japan) because many people think JP racket is better (in term of quality build) than another code (hence it is more expensive) but it is not true though

there are many other ways to know about fake rackets
you could check the cosmetic, or even the bag
fake racket comes with fake bag which use cheap material or wrong cosmetic

you can check my thread about it:

:). Based on the shaft-cone combination it should be okay http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/images/icons/icon14.png but you should still inspect the physical properties like correct font for the shaft and cone numbers.

here is some pictures for NS9900 taken last nite. TBH, my friend was wrongly gave me the cone code...it was sticker serial number (see 1st pic) :(...so sorry bcos i just noticed it.

is that anyway we can verify this racket?..since my friend was refused to take off the sticker. but he can provide the original receipt of purchased item.

deep down inside me, i believe this is genuine. by looking on its physical properties and cosmetic-wise personally....and got chance to play it for 3hrs last night :D. i had seen the fake one once, and compare to this...i can feel the originality.

i am going for rm450 (negotiable) from my friend if it so...this racket only played twice, very mint condition, no scrathes at all...he never like head-light....3UG4 with 26lbs, BG66.

thanks.

How about making a sticker that's about the size of the Yonex one? That would open up more opportunities of placing it without covering stuff up.

demolidor

I don't think it's their problem in the end since if you buy from their official dealers it should be genuine anyway. Plus the numbers mean nothing to most people ... Perhaps it's more interesting to find out what the number on the sticker stands for :).

SP code (Singapore distribution area) usually is for south east Asia market (Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia) but many shops import it (like MBS in Hongkong, or MJstring in Canada) because it is cheaper
but since SP code is the largest Yonex target market, many fake maker also use this code

oh ok, that explain the RM65

the main part that makes me curious is "next to the ladies market"
if my memory serves me correct, there is one fake that also "next to the ladies market" (I might be wrong though..)

and also, 990 HKD (RM 385) is a pretty good price for NS9900 (or should I say too good?) in Indonesia, you need to pay almost double of it (RM 700)

got this from
http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php/86030-WTB-Yonex-AT900T-or-NS9900-(Malaysia-Singapore)

retail:
AT900t = RM849.90
NS9900 = RM929.90

both 25% off
AT900t = RM637
NS9900 = RM697
(racket only)

general rule of thumb, if you doubt it's real, don't buy it
if the price too good to be true, don't buy it

I think SP nowadays is meant for Hong Kong as well. HK code used to be distributed by Sunrise as well and Hong Kong is still in the distribution area for Sunrise. I haven't seen a HK code for years now so I can only assume it has been replaced by the SP's(?) ....

I think except the countries listed here with their own distributors, Sunrise handles the rest of Asia: http://www.yonex.com/shop/asia.html There was a little list of countries mentioned in the forum somewhere ...

For a US one I'd call it cheap even, you'd probably have some warranty period left(?) ...

Yeah..a local shop in Brunei. Well..specifically i bought for Brunei Dollars $245 and I just realised i multiplied the price by USD$1.3 instead of dividing it after reading your post.. Hahah. :p . So its should have been USD$188. Thanks for the correction and you about right on the price i bought the racket at.
