We wanted to let everyone know that, YES, the rumors are true! Bintang Badminton is opening up a fourth gym and the lucky city is South San Francisco! This will be a 29 court facility with our trademark wooden suspension flooring and court mats and professional lighting.

We are committed to making this Bintang's best yet facility! This will hopefully be second-home for the many diehard badminton fans out there as well as home of future Nor Cal badminton Olympians.

We hope to bring badminton in the US to the next level with such a facility and we look forward to having all of you visit once it opens. The target opening month is June 2010. Stay tuned for updates!

..29 courts?!?! that's almost equivalent to 2 baddy clubs..it shows that baddy is really growing in the NorCal area!...Now, if only you guys could host the U.S. Open up in the NorCal area....hmmmm..;)

Hi ctjcad! Hosting the US Open would surely be a great honor. But OCBC has been doing a wonderful job of it and being that they were the pioneer of badminton in the US (i.e. they were the first fully dedicated badminton gym in all of US), we feel they are most suited for and most deserving of hosting it. There could always be other tournaments that we can host up here, so don't worry! There will be no lack of action here.

I dunno about that. He's a coach who used to live in Bay area and then moved down to LA. I guess he knows the local scene pretty well.

yeah .... just a few minutes away from BBC2.

i agree .... knowing the annual membership would really help us decide which club to join. it would make sense to join a bigger gym which would hopefully translate to less waiting time.

i can't wait to see the gym .... and it would have the same nice bouncy floors as the sunnyvale gym ....

I would guess that they're trying to serve the needs of the Bay Area badminton enthusiasts by opening gyms in areas where there aren't many gyms nearby.

are there any updates?

bintangclub

Hey illusionistpro. Thanks for your interest in Bintang SSF. Sorry we have not updated lately -- it's just been too busy! A lot has been going on.

The court portion of the facility has been painted. The framework and plumbing for the restrooms are done. The framing for the offices is complete and the drywall is up. The emergency exit corridor has been put up. The roll-up doors have been converted to glass-line. The landscaping and front entrance are in the works.

That is the latest update as of last week. We will take some photos later this week and provide more updates. We will try to post weekly updates on our website as we approach the target opening month.

sorry i went but i forgot my camera. The place was fine loads of room everywhere, however i felt some court were too close to the wall. Lighting was fine. The courts were blue this time which i thought was weird. They still didnt finish setting everything up though. No queing system up yet but with 29 courts is one needed? (haha jk) It was hard to find I went past the warehouse like 2 times. The only thing im worried about is ventilation, Theres only 1 door a a gararge door that opens up, so i hope they put up some kind of ventilation system so the place doesnt turn into a sauna like affinity. The design style is much like sunnyvale where the lobby and seating area is in the front and all the courts are bunched together on the other side, unlike campbell. So you cant really watch games that are going on, on the otherside.
