I was jus wondering, when siblings play together, would they hav better "compatibility"??

Especially for twins, and especially especially for identical twins

cuz I've heard somewhere that identical twins can "feel the existance of each other" and would be able to read each other's thoughts more easily (than jus normal siblings)

IF this is true, would this also apply for badminton? that identical twins can compensate each other more easily??

Interesting question. I don't know for sure whether or not they are better players together but i do remember a set of identical twins that played double together, they rotated pretty well thats about it.

I think it's hard to say. It all depends on how well they train together really. You might perhaps get a jump-start on the chemistry since siblings will know each other already. To really play well, the two will still have to practice together and learn teamwork that way. Even siblings fight too sometime, so it's possible that it can be hard for them to work together all the time. :D

i think the result depends on the person :D

haha maybe they really didn't move.. it was just that u couldn't tell who was who.
jk

good question. my biology teacher told me that he had a few twins in his classes during his career.. and he said that one pair studied together and everything.. and their answers, even when they wrote tests in different rooms, were word for word the same.. and it was consistant throughout the course!

so maybe they'd play very well and can sense where each other are, and they may be compatible due to their likeness in thinking.

I know these two guys who are twins

and their smashes and clears are preformed about the same

But one does not play badminton as much as the other (He is not as interested)

And the one who does not play as much is not as good compared to his brother

My brother hates badminton, along with every other sport. It will surely rain when he agrees to play with me. Once I played with him and he made his own condition: You can only get the serve when you score 1 point. Of course he started the game with him serving. lol.

It seems to me that the most successful doubles pairs are often made up of rather different players in terms of playing style, mentality, etc. Maybe that's needed to make a whole that's bigger than the parts...

Then again, if Tony Gunawan had had a twin brother... ;)

Actually, there was a Danish elite twin-double a couple of years ago who did rather well.

Jesper and Morten Knudsen.

I don't recall them winning any major titles though, but Jesper won All England in X-double with Nettie Nielsen one year..

That being said, I tend to agree with MAG that the strongest double constallation is often a constallation of two very different individuals.. with different strengths and weaknesses.. where they have learned how to optimize eachother's performance.. and where each player therefore gets a specific role during play.. you can see that in a lot of the current top constallations..

funny you should mention that UKPlayer. We used to have these 2 girls play in college - they were Canadian citizens but of asian descent. Very different personalities but they were identical twins except one was right handed and the other was left handed. It would definitely confuse people when they got on the court together, i'll tell you that. cute too...

I take it that you are refering to the Ong girls? They were quite talented too and not only that they play badminton but both are in the same professions (accountants).

Cooler, I don't know. They haven't played competitively for quite a while now but their profiles are still listed on Badminton Canada. I remembered hearing something a while back about Toronto. Badrad might know better.
