Once every so often(more often than not), I hit the frame of my racquet instead of the string. Sometimes I feel that I don't even need string to play badminton!! :D

So I am wondering if anyone here have the same realization.

well if you put it that way... I return smashes often with my shaft... in most cases when the bird actually goes bak over... they're usually winners :D

no one expects such a huge swing of a racket that lands the bird jus barely over the net :p

Frame shots that stay in play are almost always winners--they're very deceptive.

I wonder if anyone has practiced trying to deliberately hit on the frame, especially for smashes.

actually.... there is...

wait wait!! it's not me! :p

My friend, after a game of hitting the frame multiple times and getting winners out of it, started practicing his smashes so they'll hit the frame!

However, he wasn't too successful at doing that, so after a few minutes went bak to normal game play :D

isn't that bad for the shaft?
i mean anything hitting the shaft a lot of times could cause fractures (big or small)

I usually hit the frame when i play in a new place. Timing is all off and a few times i went for a full power smash and cracked my racket head. :(

I hit the frame just in just about every type of shots except clear. And I hit just about evreywhere on the frame too:D :D

However, I never once break my racquet by hitting the frame. I am not a very power hitter.

It is frustrating to not be able to deliver a shot that you intened to even though the shuttle sometime cross the net and win a point. It is like cheating.

Not as much as I used to.
Usually if I change racquet or switch between plastic and feather it takes a while to get the timing.

Anyone see the MD Final of the Danish Open?
Kim Dong Moon & Ha Tae Kwon vs Chew Choon Eng & Chan Chong Ming

Chan hit a frame and won a point. (in the second game I think)

Heh i hit the frame more then i probably like to admit, but better then it used to be tho...

and yeah they are deceptive and normally winners (if they stay in) but i think practising frame shots wont be too friendly to your rackets lol

im starting to hit the frame now, more than usual actually. i need to be more consistent on my shots too. sometimes when i get too anxious i completely miss a shot, like when someone lifts it right at the net and i should be able to smash it easily, i completely miss it.

Well, right on the point.

Guess that's why almost no one really practice "frame shot". I mean, cost $$$ for a shot that may help or may not.

I won't practice it, unless I win lottery (grand prize, of course). :D

I know I hit the frame much more often with my backhand than my forehand. Just today I tried to backhand clear at eye level and lo and behold, I hit the frame. It stayed in and I win a point.

I don't like it when luck constitutes most of the points in a game.

:) :)

I can frame smash whenever I want, but it is all about timing....;)
Well the only times I do frame smash on purpose is when I am using my aluminum head racquet with graphite shaft, I don't do it whenever I use my TISP SR....:p

It's pretty easy, but remember!! Only do frame smashes when you have plenty of birds to hit with and that you are not paying for any birds because the birds will break easily if you hit it with the frame all the time....

It's fairly obvious that frame hits occur if the timing is off, either swing too fast, too slow, over reach, or under reach the shot. I'd say I probably average 1 frame hit per game. It's gotten better now. It use to be "clanging" constantly when I play. :D

It amazes me that even when you frame-hit a nylon shuttle that has a relatively soft nose, it still sounds like you've hit a piece of wood.

To the point.
I realize that when a player hit the frame while smashing, he always check his frame before the next shot, and i do that too. It's perfectly bad for your racket and your opponent. I have face this situation and it really sucks! HOw can u stand when ur opponent smash+hit the frames more than 3 times during a deuce???
If it happens by an accidents, its okay....but sometimes when the accidents happens so often...im going to buy a new tennis racket for him!:( :(

I usually apologize for a frame hit, to my opponent and to my racquet :D . I really hate when people do something like that consistently and just laugh it off. Just ticks me off sometime.
