View Full Version : badminton court in your house?
in Forbes, there is an article titled "Five Signs your house is overpriced". you can find the article here:
http://www.forbes.com/2002/11/22/cx_bs_1122home.html
the 5th sign states:
5. The home is priced for expensive, unique amenities that may not hold broad appeal. Your family may have enjoyed endless hours of fun in your indoor badminton court, but not everyone loves badminton as much as your family does. The more customized the home's amenities, the less likely the seller is to see their value in the sales price.
damn! that just completely ruins my dream...
Cheung 11-22-2002, 05:19 AM Ahem! Not for where I live!
Who's started hitting a shuttle indoors with a friend, and got a bit too competitive and broken a racket / household item:p
Cheung 11-22-2002, 06:35 AM There are 3 courts downstairs from me.
There are another 8 courts another 5-10 minutes walk away.
There are another 13 courts the other direction away (ten minutes walk) - but that's in a University and I have to ring people up to play there.
Am I spoiled or what?:p
My in-laws have a huge living room (bigger than some Canadian homes) where I managed to hit with my nephew and niece without breaking anything;)
I think Kwun is living in the wrong place!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well, there are certainly no courts downstairs in my house, but as it happens I live just a 3 minute walk away from my club's badminton hall... Rather convenient! :)
Tezta.com 11-22-2002, 08:21 AM Well i do not have any courts in my building but one day after a nice jog through a trail, i ended up behind some flats where i saw one cement court that belonged to what looked like a small house or could have been a 3 story building. The court was ouside without a net but had only badminton markings and was painted green as well.
Somehow I just have to convince my parents to build one in the backyard. They have about 1 acre of unused land that can easily be converted to an indoor badminton court if they choose to. :D

I really envy you :) (your access to badminton courts, NOT your rich in-laws with a huge house though :))

Exactly!!! :D
LazyBuddy 11-22-2002, 02:24 PM If any family in NY metro area can ever own a in-door badminton court, I have to say that family must be very very rich. A little tiny, half broken 50 yrs old house on my street can be easily sold for $350,000 or more. So... heheheheh...
If that family lives close enough, maybe I will try to hook up with their female member (the daughter??? :D ) Just to get my daily practice going...
Sounds evil, I guess..;)
mojoe 11-22-2002, 02:52 PM yea, having a court in your own home is a dream !! i know of a family friend's house who has an indoor pool, hm... wonder if they'd like to convert that into a badminton court !! :p

Sheldon 11-25-2002, 01:00 PM hehe I'm at sixth form college and I get free booking for badminton courts during school time (my freee periods and lunch). I just have to convince some people to play with me..........very boring on your own....

Same here. I need to convince my friends to go to practice with me, but seems everyone else just getting really tired after work / school.
The difference is, no matter they go with me or not, I am always the one to drive (70 - 100 miles round trip). So, always me to pay for the car and gas...
:(
Sheldon 11-26-2002, 08:18 AM You people make me feel that I should play more if not to take advantage of the closeness of the sports hall:)
Joanne 11-26-2002, 08:48 AM Well, there's a badminton court opposite my house, but I rarely use it, too windy. Prefer the Taman Megah court, 10-15 minute walk from my house to there.
