It's priced about $300 US Dollars. Is Yonex coming out with any new high end rackets soon? If not then I will consider getting the Li Ning N90. :D

I think N90 and SOTX Woven 16 are the 2 most expensive rackets right now.

Are you only buying rackets based on how expensive they are???

how about Lin Dan's personal N90? I'm sure that would be the most expensive. Or... have yonex sell you their prototype of the next thing... i'm sure they have something in the works that is newer than the Z slash...
i'm sure both options would be well in the thousands....

In that case, the AT700 old that lin dan threw into the crowd after Olympic Gold will surely be worth more in an auction. Perhaps even in the millions (ridiculous number of dirty rich fans in China).

i guess we will just have to consider only the retail values of the rackets for this discussion. otherwise, the sky's the limit.

i cant agree more on the N90 being the most expensive racket which is in the market right now. Li Ning has achieved what they set out to do, which is to garner as much publicity as possible, be it positive or negative.

havent seen or heard about SOTX here in Singapore, tho.

SOTX is available here, you can get from Artric sports.

But the funny thing about SOTX Woven 16 is that it is the most expensive and also the most flexible in their entire range.

Normally for other brands, the most expensive model is also the stiffest.

If I didn't remember wrong, it is upwards of $250, I think close to $300 ?

The SOTX woven series is actually pretty popular and you can find quite a few guys using it, normally the W7, W8, W9 and W11 I believe.

I myself have the CP5000 and the SSW200. One thing about SOTX is that they have their own design and technologies and the quality is pretty good too !

yeah, someone was trying to sell a 'Jackie Chan'-branded racket for USD5000!!

but seriously, for the benefit of this thread, it will be healthy for us to restrict the prices to mass-produced rackets rather than those limited editions or one-offs. as for the latter, the prices are very very subjective.

on a side note, it will be really cool to wield a racket made entirely out of dry carbon fiber, tho. without paint. just bare, naked carbon fiber. i wonder how many kidneys do i have to sell to buy one of those. :p

I have a friend who has a black knight prototype racket. The racket is completely black with NOTHING on it, except for the strings (obviously) and the BK logo on the bottom of the handle.

Oh, and it only costed around $40 CAD

most probably carbon graphite, rather than the carbon fiber i was hoping for.

something like this:

or this:

Carbon graphite is a much better material than carbon fiber. Diamonds, buckyball and graphite are many classes above carbon fiber. So those carbon fiber weaves are very ordinary carbon fibers, and defintely not graphite.

psychophant
12-29-2009, 02:06 AM
in that case, a full carbon-fiber racket wont be worth much anyway.

now back to the topic: are there any mass-produced (not limited editions) rackets retailing for more than Li Ning's N90?

If u mean playable n got good feel,i know what u really mean.Depends on how u get it really.Lining rackets are simply those which are overpriced their stated price,IMO,especially for a brand that has just begun making rackets. For example:Lining N90 in china is stated at 1980RMB,while Arc-Z is 1720RMB,Woven 16 2200RMB or more,AT700LTD is 3280 RMB,Victor Brave sword limited edition 2008RMB.So,from here,we can see that 700LTD is the most expensive racket by looking at its stated price, but in the real life, stated prices in each countries, the discounts that is offered in each countries, and each stores in different cities are different.:)

yeah, i get what u mean. the availability and popularity of certain brands in different countries also factors heavily on the pricing.

but in general, one can safely say that the N90 is ONE OF THE most expensive, if not THE most expensive, rackets around.

the 'bad feeling' about the N90 is probably caused by the negative impression you already have before even stepping into the shop. one will have to play a game or two with the racket to really have sufficient and accurate feedback.

unless you have mastered the secret skills of judging rackets via several 'air swings'?
