View Full Version : Shoe advise please...
NL-player 12-13-2002, 06:52 AM Hello,
I thinh i need new shoes. I now have an old pair Asics, with a slick profile. Is there anybody who has some info about good badminton shoes. My size is 39-40(european size) and I have pretty broad, wide feetshape.
Any info will be appreciated!
THANKS
LazyBuddy 12-13-2002, 07:00 AM If u have access to a local store, I think better just go to try it. Different manufacture really have difference in their own sizes. Since shoes kinda important for ur game and safety, I think u'd better really try and even do a little bit running and jumping before throwing $$$.
NL-player 12-13-2002, 07:06 AM ...i habe broken my achilles tendon in january of this year. I am looking for shoes which give a little bit of extra 'support' to my ankle. But I do not like high-cut shoes.
Thanks again...
Hi NL-player, if you are used to Asics already, the Asics Gel Hammer is a shoe you might try. It is expensive though, as it is Asics top-model, at least last year it was. In the store they said it was designed for Volleybal and most top-volleybal players would use that Asics shoe. I bought it because it has cushion in front, middle and rear part of the shoe. I'm satisfied with the shoe, it also fits nice around my foot.
Hope this helps
wide feet with good support... i have wide feet also, Hi-Tec shoes are generally wider. new model Yonex, like the SHB95 is also wide.
don't try old Yonex, despite poor quality, they are narrow, so are Gosen shoes and Mizuno. i have never tried Asics before.
Cheung 12-14-2002, 02:47 AM I have Mizuno Wave Return (red trim) which are for wide feet. I, and many others, find them a good choice.
I'd personally say they are an excellent choice.
wind rider 12-14-2002, 05:51 AM has anyone tried the new Nike indoor shoe??
NL-player 12-16-2002, 02:45 AM Hey windrider,
I have tried the old Nike's, but i didn't like them. I think Nike has pretty good shoes, but not for my feet ;-)
What kind of brand is 'Gosen'? I have never heard of it or seen it here in The Netherlands...

Mizuno's are pretty good for wide feet. Cheung, I think you and I have the same shoe. Does your Wave Return have "Ti" on the side of the shoe?

No, on the side of the box, it says Wave return LW.

Do you have this year's model or last year? I have 2001 year model.
Cheung 12-16-2002, 04:33 AM Sorry, I have no clue wether they are this year's or last years model!
I know this same design was available very early this year (that's when I first saw people using them) but in 2001?
crazyboy139 12-16-2002, 07:01 PM I'm looking for a pair of good badminton shoes, but I dunno what to look for.
So I went around to badminton shops to ask them, they ended up telling me they didn't have any size 9+ in store, so none of them could help me.
I'm left with the shoes for normal indoor :(
Infact I plan to go buy a pair of Nike indoor shoes tomorrow.
Anyone know which indoor shoes at normal sporting stores (ie Sports Chek) is good?
ASDFASDF 12-16-2002, 07:07 PM Crazy.. I got u on msn and icq... get on it and i'll tell u where to buy. :-)
crazyboy139 12-17-2002, 06:24 PM Um yea
Today I bought the Asics Gel Bounce, sports chek had limited choices on indoor shoes, but considered the most variety.
Thats all :D
bigredlemon 11-02-2003, 11:52 AM they only have Asics gel bounce and mizuno blocker... just two! Sportmart has Adidas downroar (original and version 2.) And that's pretty much everything for indoor court shoes in the big sports stores of Toronto.
Pecheur 11-02-2003, 04:01 PM I recently bought a pair of indoor shoes and did the normal thing, ie pull out the insole and fit my orthotics. For the first time I wore through the thin cardboardy type underlay and the sole of the shoe is damaging the foamy bit of my orthotic, needless to say I'm unhappy.
What shoes do you wear to play badminton? I had a really old pair of shoes which lasted me years and years but now sadly out of production so am now looking desperately for replacements, and a fix to my orthotic.
Baddie 11-02-2003, 11:45 PM Hi Pecheur,
I started using arch support inserts the past month and most of my shoes become too tight when I use these inserts. Only my Yonex SHB88 fits. Most of the badminton shoes have very little (or none at all) arch support except Asics shoes. If you need arch support built into the shoe, then go with the Asics.
