grip problems

hi ppl
i have trouble with the simpliest thing
i can't tape my grip making the tape stay in place..
the tape will sooner or later lose it's position and slide upwards towards the cone/two pieces of plaster..
i try to make the tape go smooth by stretching it when taping it
the kind of tape i used was regular black tape where people normal used to tape up wires and electronics
can anyone tell me a problem with how i tape or maybe a better way to.
thus, a special kind of tape to use

ps. i use a carlton rasmussen when the con is like as-ti or as-l where the cone is not circular but rectangular

Why u have to use tape?

I believe grips already have glue/tape like stuff on. The only difference is, overgrip only has it at the end, and replacement grip has it allover the entire length.

I used to have this problem!

I partially solved it by using the full width of the black tape for a few twists and then cutting it down the centre so there would be a 1/2 width strip to tape above where the grip ended.

These last couple of years, I have wound the grip all the way over the cone and to the shaft. The tape is then then wound over the part of the shaft where the grip is. Since my hand doesn't rub against the tape, now there is no problem!

My replacement grips don't have any glue on the back.

used to have same problem with grip coming apart at the cone. hard to explain how to do it, you have to somehow tape the grip and the cone part with the same section of the tape...hmmm think i am confusing myself....:D and then the rest of the tape on the cone to secure it. Don't overlap too much.

regarding sigit's grip, gripping that high shifts the feel and balance of the racquet considerably. a friend of mine tried it with his mp100 and it turned a head-heavy racquet into head-light. :D

i have a problem but not the same as you guy's my problem is that i sweat a lot and i can't find a grip that could last a hole game .... usualy it's so weat that i am having problem to controle my racket... any suggestions

First of all, from my experience the best way to avoid the grip from slipping is to purchase a grip that sticks properly. Also make sure that when you are replacing the grip that the handle is clean and dry before putting on the new one.

When wrapping up the grip, do not overlap the grip more than 5mm and make sure that you are starting on the bottom. The electrical tape is probably the easiest to use and it works very well going around the shaft a couple of times.

If you want to avoid the grip from slipping, put an overgrip on top with high absorption so that if your grip does slip, it will just need the overgrip replaced.

Hi there - i have a carlton aerogear 2000TFX - the first time i regripped it i had trouble because of the square part where the handle joins the shaft - after taking a look at my friends racquet i discovered that the tape doesn't go over the square bit - it leave you with and edge where the handle joins the shaft tho - if you can cope with this little niggle just grip the racquet up to the end of the wooden bit and keep the tape underneath the square bit. my grips stay on fine.

One heck of a grip that guy has there.

I use the Black Knight "Super Grips" where it has adhesive on the back of the grip so it always sticks in place. I find it a relatively nice grip and worked better than the replacement grips for me.

Anyone know where I can find those white Yonex grips? I love white except I'm afraid it'll turn brown after a weeks use ;)

yea it was my tape problem
i tried changing the tape and it worked.. but now i'm wondering.. what is a good brand of electrical tape to use.. the one i'm using now is from my yonex BLUe colour grip.. and i need to replace it.
