To some of the other coaches out there in Vancouver:
Would you be interested in getting together with your junior training groups and have a limited time frame junior league?
There are a small number of junior training groups now, and would be good to set up some play times for the groups to play against each other.
Groups that I can think of are:
Richmond
Coquitlam
Maple Ridge
Guildford
Burnaby
Vancouver (vrc, vlt)
North Vancouver
West Vancouver (hollyburn)
We could work out arrangements with the respective centers we are coaching at to get court time and work out the gym costs. Typically we could get a lower rate so that enough fee same as regular drop in (around $3-4 per player).

Badrad,
Interesting idea. Will pass that along to the club executives and head coach.

that's a really good idea, I'll mention that to my school team coach, except that we haven't even had the tryouts yet...school badminton season is from January to around May I guess. Only 6 people from my team last year got to the fraser valley tournament, but we stunned the referees and officials when we placed 3rd place overall :D
Where can I find coaches for junior teams around the lower mainland/ fraser valley?
I would be interested in joining one.

If you are interested, pop by Guildford, unless you are already taking the program on Saturdays. I haven't been coaching there for some time now, but the other two coaches are very good as well.

Really? I thought the school that took first place was Maple Ridge..your top 2 girls were really good. I think they each took first and second place of girls singles and then teamed up to take first in girls doubles. Really solid smashes :) They're lucky to have a coach as you!

I know I'm reviving an old thread, but just to add to the list. West Van actually has 2 clubs now. There's Hollyburn (I doubt they'll join) and there's the West Vancouver Badminton Lightning Club.
Does anyone know coaches who are right now free to coach? I'm an intermediate level player - I play in most of the Junior B tournaments, recently placed 2nd for U16 Girls Doubles at the Douglas B (more due to my partner than me. hehe.) I am finding it difficult to improve at a consistent level since we obviously have classes and games more often than straight drills or focus on an individual's skill improvement.
If anyone knows a coach, could they please let me know? PM me please.

Is this the Junior or Senior Fraser Valleys that we're talking about.
Also.....just a note to everyone...the Junior B League that was run by Badminton BC has already finished.

meant have free time to coach. I understand a lot of badminton coaches are usually very busy. hehe.

It is a good idea!
The only problem is that I do not have any way of contacting my players in the summer.

Are there any coaches at ClearOne? One of you should put up a post in the buy and sell newspaper for coaching badminton! Everybody can use a little coaching!

There are quite a few coaches at ClearOne. Most of them are busy, but I think they still have a couple of free blocks for private lessons.
haha..I remembered in one of the group lessons that the original coach was away and told a backup to do the coaching. However, the backup was late, so we had a backup coach for the backup coach. haha..so ya, there's no lack of coaches there.
