twopaths 04-19-2005, 03:28 PM OK! there are lots of places to play and decent competition if you go tothe right places at the right time! I play in the south shore and am able to play 4 days a week! Lunenburg has games on sunday morning at 9am and on wed. night from 7-9.30. Bridgewater has games at the michelin center on monday from 7-9pm and on wed. at the high school from 7-10.
halifax has games at dalplex but you'd have to contact them for info.

I'm 14 years old, and i am a member at dalplex. It's great! I've only gone 2 times so far, but i feel that i've improved a lot! It's right in Halifax, so you're probably pretty close. Its on wednesday, friday, and sunday nights. You don't have to call them for info, though. Just go to the desk, and ask them to make you a card. They'll give you a card with 10 circles in it, and it will be 70$. Each time you go, they will cut out a circle. So that's 7$ per time. You can use this card for anything in Dalplex for as long as you want in the day. You can swim, weight train, play badminton, volleyball, or basketball, run on the track, etc. It's a great place to go to improve!
twopaths 05-29-2005, 07:42 PM so what time on those nights is badminton?
how many people show up?
how many courts are there?
what is the level of play?

Dalplex is a great place to play!
Wednesday = 8:30 pm - 10:30 pm
Friday = 8:30 pm - 10:30 pm
Sunday = 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm
Usually, there's about 20 - 30 people who show up. But pretty much everyone plays doubles, so courts are open usually.
There are 6 courts, and usually, theres none open at the start, but me and a friedn waited for 15 minutes and one opened up. We played a singles game, and left to get a drink. We came back 5 - 10 minutes later and that same court was still open. That happened about 3 times. So, its filled at the start, but courts open up fast.
On the Dalhousie website, it claims "We have a fun, friendly atmosphere and our members range from beginner to advanced." But in reality, it's not for beginners... The level of play is more advanced, but I'm 14, and I can play there, so it's not too difficult. Other than that, Dalplex is a great experience! You can also use the whole Fieldhouse instead of just badminton (Pool, Track, Weights, Basketball, Volleyball).
Hope that answers your questions.
snowboy2008 05-15-2006, 03:30 PM hey i'll play badminton with you. i can go to dalplex most afternoons and nights
