How come they don't sell Yonex Aerotus rackets in N. America, and I never hear of people using them anyways. They are on the Yonex Japan site, as well as on Luxis's web site, available only in JP versions.

View Full Version : Yonex Aerotus Rackets Phil 03-04-2003, 10:53 PM How come they don't sell Yonex Aerotus rackets in N. America, and I never hear of people using them anyways. They are on the Yonex Japan site, as well as on Luxis's web site, available only in JP versions. Phil LazyBuddy 03-04-2003, 11:07 PM I saw two ppl from my club using this series. Forgot thats 80 or 88. Both of them got from China within 2, 3 yrs. eggroll 03-05-2003, 12:46 AM The Aerotus Series has not been available to the US or Canadian distributors for quite a few years now. The raquets are still available in Japan and some Asian countries so that's the only place you can get them. Phil 03-05-2003, 11:41 AM Are there any special characteristics of the Aerotus series? From the pictures at least, they look pretty normal. Phil LazyBuddy 03-05-2003, 12:08 PM I played with this girl's Aerotus racket (80 or 88, can't remember) once. It has solid feeling in my hand, but kinda too heavy for me (I prefer 3U, 4U racket). Also, the shaft is stiff. I can't generate too much power out of it, but the control was not bad. Overall, I think it's not a bad choice for int. or below lvl ppl who are on a tight budget. However, with other brands availabe, there should be better alternate choices around in the market. kwun 03-05-2003, 08:09 PM aerotus has oval shaped head. the cross section of the head frame is more aerodynamic and supposed to cut through air with less resistance (thus AEROtus). the actual advantage however, isn't that great. thus the series hasn't really caught on. and to be honest, Yonex at that time didn't put as much effort marketing the aerotus series than they do with the musclepower series now. and that may be another reason. LazyBuddy 03-05-2003, 10:46 PM My friend who owns Aerotus 80/88 asked me to help her to re-string. I think I am going to use my beloved BG65 as a safe choice. Just wonder what will be the relatively "safe range" for tension? Since I don't know too much spec about this series. Or maybe I will just go with 20*22 or 19*21 (2 string method) as a safe choice? kwun 03-06-2003, 02:50 AM LB, be aware aerotus frames are known to be more fragile due to the thinner profile of the frame. the tension you prescribed will be safe for any rackets. forrestyung 03-07-2003, 11:01 AM My AR-80 strung in 24/22 and it is still alive!!:D It is a powerful racket, but it is not suit for all styles. U mean 22*24 (as main vs cross) right? I mean, never heard ppl put more tension on main over cross yet... forrestyung 03-08-2003, 05:35 AM 24 main and 22 cross. I have strung in this pattern for 2 years, that OK!!! You can try.;) eggroll 03-08-2003, 11:26 AM I've found many players in the past from China National team that string the raquet with higher tension in mains than crosses to make the raquet a little different feeling and give more touch. You coud try it yourself to see if it makes a difference. I tried it and it did change the feel but I didn't prefer it over the way Yonex reccommends. LazyBuddy 03-08-2003, 12:50 PM ic ic... but guess i will still go with the conservative way. Don't want to mess up ppl's racket for any chances. forrestyung 03-08-2003, 10:35 PM I remenber that the tension pattern has been debated for a long time. But I really cannot remenber the name of the thread. Aerotus 110 (its a earlier model than 110SP) became a collectors' item. 110 has a wider head than a 110SP. I agree with Lazybuddy that Aerotus is a bit heavy. But it gets speed and power. forrestyung 03-18-2003, 01:45 AM http://www.badmintonforum.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=4703&highlight=stringing+method The above thread can find the anws of the main and cross. |
