I'm playing in my fist tournement on saturday. ive been playing in school and at a club weekly and have been getting quite good and competitive. im playing singles and wonder if theres anything special i need to know. this will be my first time palying with feather birds. do they last only one game? do they need to be handled in any specific way? also i havent played in a match before. do u take a break between games? can u grab a sip of water? if you win the first two games do u still play a third? im sure some of this will get cleared up when i go but any help would be appreciated so i know what to expect. thanks:)

From the rules that I recall:
- you can't leave the court so bring your stuff including water beside the court. Go grab a drink if you are thirsty. If it's not allowed, they'll let you know.
- It's best 2 out of 3 so no need for third game.
- feathers on feather birds tend to break pretty easily, esp. with slices and stuff.
- beware that feathers fly differently. Then they tend to fly slightly faster at first, but slows down VERY VERY quickly. You'll need to hit much harder for them reach the tramlines.
- what format is the tournament? It's possible you might just be playing a single game per person until most of the people have been eliminated. It'll be best of 3 games afterwards, and just a single game before. This varies of course depending on setup.
- if there's alot of feathers on your court... feel free to wipe them off. you don't want to slip and pull something.

Also, try to relax when u play. Since u say this is the 1st tourny u attend, there could be some un-expect stuff happen here and there.
Just make sure, if u lead, still don't take them too easy, there are a lot of good players just have a "slow start". If u r losing, just try ur best, hey, maybe u can get a great come back and kick ass around.
Best of luck.

1st time with feather shuttles?
I think you better buy a few and knock up a few days beforehand. The feeling of impact and flight path is very different initially.
This is starting to sound more like the torniment i went last year. I was in grade ten last year, and i went into the high school category. Unforunately for me, everyone was in university or over 18. I had a hard time adapting to the feather shuttles (proace shuttles). Oh well at least i got to watch Daryl Yung play, and the torniment was a great experiance.
This is the strathmore forza torniment right?

Bring yourself some bananas. You will need the Potassium and sugar. Clean the soles of your shoes with a wet towel before and during the games. Also, you should buy some decent feather shuttles and get used to the flight pattern. It is very different from plastics. Feathers tend to be faster when fresh, so adjust accordingly.
You might want to test the shuttles before the games start so you know the speed.
Good Luck

ya, it was the strathmore open. i didnt mind the difference in the feather birds, and we had lots of time to warm up with them. they seem to go very fast horizontilly then suddenly turn and fall quite slow. i brought lots of food and that was good. unfortunateely i lost my first match, then i easily won my second. the third match was a good one, but i lost:(
oh well, it was a lot of fun. im sure i'll be back next year and hopefully a few more before then!
