Hello all,

I just purchased a Ti-8 2U G4 from Lee's, and I noticed in store that the serial/distribution code started with a CN. I asked the lady if it was a CN version, and she checked it and said it wasn't a CD, so it must be a CN. The code is CN12079 4. There is a space between the 9 and the 4, and the 4 is larger and bolder. As well, the end cap has a number above the Yonex symbol, 71116.

I have attached a few pictures i took with my webcam of the number and the end cap. It was kind of hard to capture, since the numbers are not highlighted and the paint is dark.

1. The code - CN12079
2. A closer view, the first part of the code - CN120
3. Second part, without the CN - 12079 4
4. The end cap - 71116

I paid $225 CAD minus 10%, so $202.50 CAD for this Ti-8, and if it is a CN, then it must be my lucky day. It would also mean that Lee's has CN's.

Hmmm, I thought most Yonex's racquet had laser etching on the shaft? Or is it just for the new racquets lately. The serial number looks to be printed on, or pressed on, so it must be really old(which the Ti8 is already is). But I have seen racquets that have this sort of pressed/printed serial number on a Yonex racquet before.

Interesting, if it is. I will be visiting there tomorrow and look at thier Ti-10's....:D

But I wouldn't be surprised if the Ti-8 was a CN, because Jenifer Lee loves the Ti-8 and used to use them..

It sounds like you got yourself a CN racquet!!! But to ensure it is, please compare it to regular Ti-8 CD and Ti-8 SP for stiffness, weight, balance and frame distortion at high tension.

I think Ti8 does come in a CN version but you'd have to check with Ricky.

Some of my CN versions have a code at the cap. However, some don't.

The serial number on the shaft is for relatively new racquets.

zero: I don't know if they have any Ti-10s left. I didn't ask about them, but on their website and in the price list at Lee's, there is no Ti-10 on the list. If Jennifer Lee used to like and use Ti-8, what does she use now? She wasn't there when I bought the racquet, since all the competitive juniors were at provincials. BTW, how'd you do there? I see you and Lawrence had to play Wong/Malik. Ouch.

Pete LSD: Unfortunately, no stores within 100km of where I live sell anything above an MP-55, unless you order from Yonex through this guy. I was also at Yo's right before I went to Lee's, and all of Yo's were SP versions, except for the MP-88. The MP-100 SP was going for $250 CAD, which I thought odd. Frame distortion at high tension sounds kinda scary!

Should be CN verison!!! Just try to string with 28lbs to prove it!!!:D

Just make sure the stringer is competent stringing at high tension. The 8 central main strings should be 28 lbs and outer mains strings should be substantially less. The same idea goes for the 8 central cross strings (23 to 24 lbs???).
