The IBF reformed the format of the World Championships for promoting this game, but I think there are some a few steps that need to be modified. Why? I have studied the qualification and the players who can enter competition this year and then found some statistics. IMHO, I think this reformation for WC can not promote the game but damage its charm because so many top players in the world in five events are refused to enter (as the chart below).

As can be seen from the chart, about 1/3 top players in top 64 in the world in every event are out of the most important individual competition. So I don't think it can promote the badminton in the world.

I suggest whether the IBF can perfect this format for WC as follows:

1. Players/pairs ranked 1 to 16 in the IBF ranking list for each event will be considered in turn and are eligible to enter unless a total of four players/pairs from any one Member Association would thereby be exceeded in that event.

2. A Member Association may have more than four players/pairs ranked 1 to 16 in the IBF ranking list for a particular event. In such a case, the Member Association can enter any four (or fewer) of such players/pairs.

3. Players/pairs ranked 17 to 32 in the IBF ranking list for each event will be considered in turn and are eligible to enter unless a total of three players/pairs from any one Member Association would thereby be exceeded in that event.

4. Players/pairs ranked 33 to 64 in the IBF ranking list for each event will be considered in turn and are eligible to enter unless a total of two players/pairs from any one Member Association would thereby be exceeded in that event.

5. Players/pairs ranked 65 to lower in the IBF ranking list for each event will be considered in turn and are eligible to enter unless a total of one players/pairs from any one Member Association would thereby be exceeded in that event.

6. Players in a pair representing two different Member Associations shall be forbidden to participate in WC.

7.The host Association may nominate a wild card entry from its own membership In the event only if the host Association has not one player/pair from its own in this event.(-if competition is limited for entering)

8. The World Championships shall be not limited and open for all member associations.

9. If the IBF want to hold an "elite" competition, it shall set up a new "IBF event" such as "World Cup" which had been cancelled after 1997. The IBF can recover World Cup in which the IBF can use a new format like in Olympics, namely, 28 players/pairs in every event and the total are no more than 172 players/pairs (personally, I prefer "my format" to "the IBF format in Olympics" because XD players shall come from MD & WD). And the new "World Cup" shall be holding every other year when the World Championships is not holding. As for Olympics badminton competition it shall be regarded as "World Cup" in that year. So the IBF will have two individual competitions (the World Championships in odd year and the World Cup in even year) and "two" team competitions (the Sudirman Cup in odd year and The Thomas & Uber Cup in even year). That's so great! BTW, I don't think "World Cup" shall distribute players prize money because it's a "IBF event" like WC, SC and T&UC, the prize will reduce its prestige and makes it as one site of the IBFs World Series Grand Prix Tournaments. At last I also think the IBF shall continue to hold the Grand Prix Finals in the end of every year, which can be regarded as a 7* tournament like other "IBF event" without any prize money.
