Where are all the posible places for a racket to break? Is it possible for a racket to break just above the cone part. Just above the grip?

thanx......

Yes.
Pretty much anywhere on the racquet is breakable, the sturdiest parts would probably be the handle itself, because you can't snap your grip area in half from playing, and probably around the T-joint area.
These were designed to be the strongest areas.
The head itself I'm sure you know, also from all the posts on this site, that it's prone to break from just about any area.
I know one person some how snapped his Cab21, all the way down the middle of the head!
Many, many examples, and possibilities. All comes down to where the stress is placed on the racquet in play.

Probably because today i was trying a new way of smashing, using the doubles grip for serving to do a back court smash.

It works but prehaps good results have a high price?

I think so too.

Some people I've seen accidentally hit the frame too much when they smash, and their racquets break faster than mine.
However... if you read my post about stringing... it might have to do with that too.
I'm not sure.
Oh, CONGRATS TO BYRON IN REACHING #1 POSTER!!! :)

i personally have snap a brand new AR110 across the T joint, split it right in 1/2 between head and shaft.

I remember my friend was using a Yonex 600 I think and when he was playing..the shaft just flys off! SO the head with the shaft came off and the grip is just left there. Pretty damn funny...hehehe

badminton rackets are under more stress than tennis, squash or racquetball rackets. That's why one can break a badminton just from normal usage , not counting racket clashes.

Why is that? I mean, why are Badminton rackets under more stress? In what way? Thanx......

They don't have to be as thick, as other racquet sports, and thus because they're smaller and lighter in order for us to move around better (remember we play the fastest court sport on earth), the racquets have to be much smaller in design, which again adds to the fragility (I think I made that up), of badminton racquets.
You don't see tennis racquets snapping right in the middle of a game do you?
:)
If you did, I suggest you run for cover. hehehe.

I dun think I'm answering your question but juz wanna say that I saw Yoo Yung Sung's racket head "fold in half" after he smashed it agst his partner's forearm (last yr's All-England MD final). Both of them were jumping for the shuttle but Yoo is left-handed so... Anyway, Lee Dong Soo got an enormous bruise and an injured wrist (dun ask me how tt happened) and his whole forearm had to be bandaged.

End of story.

that's so funny. during the Olympics finals. he drove the shuttle right on Lee Dong Soo's head. Lee was pretty calm about it, i wonder if that happens often during practice?

Lack on communication, and control on his part.
I've accidentally done that, and :(
To say the least I was very sorry for doing stuff like that.
At least I don't feel as bad now, that I know the pro's still do that sort of stuff.

Yeah, it was kinda funny in a sadistic way... I was grimacing on Lee's behalf throughout the match. Ouch. But didn't notice the Olympic finals. Must go see my tape for the thousandth time.

Sorry Byro, totally went off this time
