The first title at an international GP-tournament for Jens Eriksen/Mette Schjoldager. The danish mixed won versus Michael Sogaard/Rikke Olsen 7:4, 2:7, 7:5, 7:2. In the men's single final Hashim Roslin won versus Tsuen Seng Lee 1:7, 7:4, 7:4, 7:0.

I remember Jens when he came to Canada many years ago for the Canadian Open, which I believe is now closed? (I'm not sure as I haven't kept up with our national level players...)
He won the tournament with his partner, using one of his classic jumpsmashes.
It was so amazingly powerful, and a treat to watch!

kelvin, it seem the canadian opens lost its luster after 1996. I think yonex is tired footing the bills for continuous poor attendance. It's really too bad.
