And what is their level?

Do you mean a club exclusively for chinese people? I think a club like that doesn't exist in a multicultural society:)
Try Hendon or Kingston which have groups of people largely comprised of (but not exclusively) people of chinese ethnic origin. What level do you play at?

Hey,
Yeah there's a huge one here in Milton Keynes,
We have over 50 people of all ages and abilities playing.
There's a smaller but better one in Cambridge, and an equally good (dare I say) one in Oxford :) But We are all mainland Chinese.

i'm sure that the clubs mentioned above is "chinese" based..however i would assume others of different heritage are still allowed to play:)

There are Chinese based "social" Badinton clubs with varyng standards around London.
Hendon College, Sobells (Finsbury park), Bacon's College (Surrey Quays), Old street,
waterfront leisure centre (Greenwich).
You've just got to ask around.
Why does it have to be exclusively Chinese out of interest?

Yes, there is a social club mainly Chinese players in Oxford. But we do mixed with others, and it is kind of fun to hear shouts of all lauguages once the game gets tight.
If you are around in Oxford, and look for a game or two, email me @ xuguang_liu@hotmail.com, I will try to make some arrangement.

its an invitation club of 9 members currently, becuase we like even games, and lots of time on the 2 courts. there are quite a few social clubs here in cambridge, and if your brother is going to the cambridge uni, each college has its own club (varying standards) and there is a university team is he is good. otherwise, there are some competitive leagues as well:)
lots of places to play if you are really good...difficult if you are good, but not good enough to play competitively

As far as I know, at the moment the people in charge of organising it this year is still working on getting sponsorship. It seems to me that it could be a while before the dates are set.
Will you take part in the matches?

The Oxbridge match is a team event of 5 doubles, sometimes including a lady's or mixed double match. It started from 1995 and so far Cambridge is leading 6:2. Normally you have to live and play in Oxford or Cambridge and there usual is a selection for each team locally.
As individual events, there is an Oxford Open of men's doubles before Xmas, and a Southampton Open of all doubles in Feb., both events may be kept as an annual ones.
As far as I know there are hundreds of Chinese play regularly in England, and I wish there are more tournaments organised.

Does anyone know of any good clubs to go to (doesnt hav to be chinese).
Reason being, there are clubs which are unfriendly/making u feel uninvited if u dont play to their standards.
Anyway, any replies for generous clubs will do. I probably say im an average player.
Cheers

There's one in Cranfield University called Chinese Society made up of immigrants from Mainland China who have come here to work at CFU.
I think you have to be a friend or a relative of one of us to join though.

Hey,
If you're playing at a reasonable standard (no frying pan shots), can move around a court quite well and have a decent degreee of accuracy and knowledge of the game my club is looking for more players of your standard.
We play at the Westminster Hall on a Sunday morning between 9:30am and midday.
We have a variety of beginners and improvers to league standard players. The players are predominantly chinese approx 70% and we have some ladies players too. We have four courts and changing room facilities (but showers are a bit cold).
We only play with feathers and it costs £5 per visit. Not bad for the number of games you get.
We are looking for players of a higher standard as many have been forced out through injury, emigration or just having better things to do on a Sunday :O
Contact me for more details.

yeh i guess it is social badminton but when i play with a partner i dont know i always get the foul mouthed ones. once i got to play with someone at hills that couldnt return a shot that was blatently in and he called it out. but then i didnt want to cheat so i sayed it was in. from that single point we ended up losing 10-2 to 10-15. that is one of the reasons i prefer singles lol. if you wnat a agme just pm me im free most nights and i have a membership at kelsey kerridge so i can book there. also got about 6 maybe 8 friends who play badminton, so if you wnat a game of doubles i can easily set a game up.

Hi,
If you're still looking for a predominantly Chinese badminton club in London see below. We are becoming more cosmopolitan with players from Spain and France too.
Hampstead Badminton club (now based in Westminster Hall - off Crompton Street - off the Edgware Road) are looking for intermediate/advanced players seeking good friendly competitive games.
We play every Sunday morning from 9am - 1:30pm for a small fee of £5 per week.
We are a feathers-only club currently playing with Gosen's.
We have four courts for our members with good lighting and heating (for those cold winter mornings). There's seating and food/drinks vending machine, toilets, changing facilities, and separate shower (albeit cold) onsite.
There's usually an average turnout of 20 - 24 people per week so no one sits out for too long and most players don't stay for the full 9 - 1:30pm.
There's a good mix of players: average - advanced, male and female.
I also play in the north London club Hadley in Enfield and play middlesex league matches - if anyone is interested at playing there too.
Contact me if you're interested on sslam72@hotmail.com
We are close to Paddington, St Johns Wood, Swiss Cottage, Maida Vale, Lisson Grove, Central london - if it helps anyone see the URL posted below for directions. The hall is located where the Primary School is on the map off Crompton Street.

Thanks
