We've never touched on this topic before?!?

Anyhow, I've gone through 5 different pairs of shoes in the last 2 years. None of them have stood up to the beating I put them through on the court. I've had the following...

Asics
Adidas
Nikes
Head

I personally hated the nike court shoes since the wore out the quickest and i rolled my ankle many times with them becaus eof the narrow base. I've had nice results with Asics, Adidas and Head. Those tend to last me the longest and I have not yet rolled my ankle with them. Has anyone tried the Adidas Tarantulas? I'm thinking of getting those, but they're not available in Canada yet, so mail order is plausible.

Yes, my friend... I've been looking into getting a new pair of shoes as well.

I'm still using my old Yonex shoes, from waaaaaaaaaaaaay back in the day.
Darn things!
wont die!
No, to be honest with you... I'm not sure what shoes to recommend.
However, from play experience, on and off the court, if you roll your ankle, I think you should find a pair of shoes, that is mid cut, that will give your ankle much more support than regular court shoes do.
I heard that Yonex's new line of shoes, offer a really cushiony feel! :)
However, I don't know if they're quite available from Yonex Canada yet... I'll see if I can find out for you.
As for right now, I thinkt that their Yonex SHB 90's seem really well suited for Badminton play, as I've seen many, MANY people buy them.
At least they have better grip than me, even on those damned dusty wooden floors... ughh...

Anyways, if you do find another suitable pair of shoes, please do share your experience with them!!!

Oh yeah.. one more thing... do you think you could tell me more about the pair of head, and Asics shoes that you used???
I'm interested in at least finding some sort of temporary solution to my shoe dilemna. :X

Darn! :(

We need Andre Agassi, to play badminton!!! :p

Yes, I was looking at the cushy shoes as well... of course the website translation made everything sound all funny, but I got the general idea of what they were trying to say. :?

Anyways... you're right about the fact that our shoes are underrated. It's like driving a car, without tires.hehehe...

Any recommendations Cooler?

Yonex's new Power Cushion technology is the bomb. Here are 3 shoes to check out! I have a pair of SHB-92 EX's and they are the best shoes I've played with. Here are the images for the shoes and you can get them at:

Here's my 2 cents. I play a lot of racquetball and as much badminton as I possibly can. I have some Nike low-top basketball shoes( I also play a little basketball) and they work great. They are cut low, so there isn't a lot of weight, they are lighter or as light as any court shoes I've seen, and I've never rolled my ankle, they have a good, wide base and plenty of traction. They are also very durable, and readily available. I've tried court shoes and I'll stick with my low top hoop shoes.

Well I own a pair of SHB 92 and a pair of SHB 571for me though the 92's are much too wide in the front for my feet but the cushion does feel nice. The 571's however are narrower so they fit quite nicely and are rather light they also have a bit thicker cushion than the 92.

i currently using volleyball shoes, they r closest to badminton in term of lateral forces and jumping action. I can't tell u which one or else u would know who i am :P.

i never have owned yonex shoes yet. They r over priced and no better than the mainstream brands. However, lately, yonex look interesting. If yonex give me a pair to try, i will evaluate it for them.

I've played with Asics but I got a bad knee from the shoes, so I switched to Yonex and the kneeproblems where gone!

So for me is Yonex the brand to get your shoes from. the new models look very nice and are promising!

I am currently using Yonex SHB-92EX. They're perfect for me. They feel (and look) great, have just enough grip and cushioning. I'm not sure about the durability, however, I haven't had them that long but they already show some signs of wear.

My long-time favorites are Asics Attack (the black & white ones). They served me well for a looong time. I sprained my ankle once, but that was due to a bad landing and I don't think any shoe would have changed that...

I agree with some previous poster who said that the shoes are the most important part of your badminton equipment. A good pair of shoes can really improve your performance to a degree that a really good racquet can't.

And people -- if you can't get badminton shoes, do NOT buy tennis shoes instead. They generally don't have the right support for badminton. Get squash or volleyball shoes instead!

The most robust shoes you can buy for badminton are the Hi-Tec Adrenaline Pro which are probably the most popular shoe in England for badminton. They can't all be wrong!

I did recently buyt a pair of Yonex SHB-92 for the added cushioning ( knee injury )which are very nice but I know a lot of people who have worn them out quicker than the Hi-Tec's. We will see.

No other companies really makes suitable shoes so the choice unfortunately is very limited.

Has anyone tried these? Does anyone know of a dealer in Canada that offers them? My only choice of buying them is through Adidas themselves, but with a shitty dollar, I'm going to lose big.
