"Anything is possible" and "Impossible is nothing" two slogans of two big companies in the sport World.
I am not going to talk about this Companies, but about those slogans.
I see that here in this forum, many people are asking - can I become good badminton player? can I achieve my dreams?
Many people will tell you the facts that are against you - your age probably, you didn't have proper training, you don't have probably enough physically gifted...Yes, all of this might be true...For now.
1). The first very important principle on the road towards your Dream is a principle described by Jim Collins in his book "Good to Great" and it is called - Stockdale Paradox - or how to confront the brutal facts of the present reality and YET NEVER LOSE FAITH.
Yes, you have to face the reality and you have to understand it - because this is the only way to change it!
2). The desire is the key!
Your great desire is the key to pursuit your Dream! Desire leads to Actions! If you desire is not strong enough your actions as well wouldn't be enough. So just build up a bigger "fire" under your desire and you will see a big change!
3.) Setup your Dream clearly. Write it down!
This is very important part of your inner change. Yes, you have to change, if you want to achieve your Dream. You can't control anything else in this World, except yourself and the adaptation principle is valid everywhere!
To be able to change towards your Dream, your Dream has to become obsession. You Desire can build it. When I am mean obsession, I really mean it!!!
Many people are seeing players like Peter Gade, Victor Axelsen, Lee Chong Wei, Lin Dan, but very few actually know how they are really inside. Victor is World Youth Champion in the age of 16 and now everybody talk how good he is, how talented, but the same people has forgotten what did they said when he was 12 and he had hard time to coordinate because of his early puberty! There is a book coming (exactly about Victor and written by a college of mine in Denmark and the mind behind BestOnCourt.com - Morten Bjergen) and soon I hope you will see it and understand that ONLY matters what is INSIDE OF YOU!!! This change the outside.
4) Discipline.
Yes. You didn't like it? Sorry, but thats the way it is.
You have a Dream? Great! Now you will have to get disciplined! Because this is the key to organize your actions!!!
Your Dream + Your Desire + Discipled Thoughts + Disciplined Actions = Achieving your Dream.
There are a lot of "Laws" which are part of each of those steps and if you understand them, you will be able to build a great plan towards your Dream and being able to pursuit it. As well as you understand them the risk of failure disappears.
All of this what I wrote is based on researches and scientifically proved. I hope that my book will get published sooner, so you will be able to understand it better.
I as coach will always work with the mentality and the psychological issues first and afterwards when the player is ready, I will implement everything else. And I can guarantee to you that the results are always, always greater. And I have tried many times to skip the step where I go in the mental development (it is just too easy to work with technique and tactics, conditioning...) but I always went back to it, because it is just impossible to build up the greatest player in the World (or any of those kind) without going into the inner development.
I will finish with quote:
"Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal; nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude." by Tomas Jefferson.
Wish all of you to find the road towards your Dreams and NEVER leave it.
