Hello,

just curious - what and when do you eat when you are going to play early in the morning (i.e., early enough that getting up and getting to the badminton place in time is non-trivial  )? My usual oats are just not cutting it if I eat them 45-60 minutes before playing. ;)

Thanks!

How to drive while returning smashes.

I have been trying to drive the smashes while receiving it but not successful yet. I play mostly...

I have been trying to drive the smashes while receiving it but not successful yet. I play mostly doubles. I consider myself as an advanced player. I don’t have any trouble with a drop or a clear while returning a smash. A return clear will not make me on the offensive and a return drop will easily be killed or dropped if the opponent’s partner is already at the net and my partner is not at the net :( .

I know I could drive a smash by using the pan handle grip and crouching. But if I prepare for this I will not be in a position for other returns.

I prepare for returning a smash with:
•	back hand grip, racket head square with the net almost level with my waist. (I am right handed)
•	Racket arm stretched (not fully) and elbow always higher than the wrist
•	Position one step above half court nearer to the front box.
•	Feet wide almost in line with the shoulders and knees bend a little, me leaning forward and facing the net and in line with the opponent who is smashing.

How could I drive a smash successfully from this position. I don’t want to lose my clears and drops by changing the position.

Thanks a lot :).

DTBA Major issues and behind the scenes

Like the title says DTBA is Crap for those who play at DTBA adult session you will find it...

Like the title says DTBA is Crap for those who play at DTBA adult session you will find it FRUSTRATING IF YOU READ IT GUARANTEED

This thread is about how sh** DTBA

DTBA system is the organizer organizes players to play against each other for 20 minutes and switch with another group that was off.

Juniors pay $4 and play with plastic shuttlecocks that is recycled for 2 months

Adults get special privileges of paying $5 for playing feather shuttlecocks LEGAL DISCLAIMER I WILL NOT MENTION NAMES, I DO NOT WANT TO TAKE ANY LEGAL RESPONSIBILITY BUT EVERYTHING HERE I SAY IS TRUE IT IS NOT FALSE. I HAVE WITNESSES THAT CAN ALL PROVE WHAT I AM SAYING.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Note: As i am talking about Juniors issue the organizer is the same person i mention in the text. Until i mention adult session's issue.

Well first i'll talk about the juniors. DTBA Used to have a lot of average player playing but now it is just a baby-sitting, childcare center.

Parents dump their children from 7:30pm to 10:30 pm and they hardly know or know what they do. Paying $4 for 3hrs childcare cheap? There is a numerous of children at like 12yrs old varying from grade 6 to 8 that comes to hang around and literally wasting other people's time.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Now there is a whole group of new faces of girls and boys, the chicks comes to flirt and gossip, guys loiter and boast and brag.

How is this wasting other people's time and mucking around?

Well there is a group of boys who are enthusiasm to play but because the organizer organizes those enthusiasm boys to "play" (or should i say babysit). Because those children cannot play for sh**.

Junior badminton is just random serve-hit-rally they have no point system so it is a pointless match of just a badminton version of "Keep Uppy", the game is called "Keep the Shuttle Up!"
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
I use to play there and play with my friends right now my level is C Grade and my 3 other friends are only Low-D. But now i gave up and quit instead of playing in DTBA.

Its because the organizer DOES NOT organize player that can play together have a match, in fact his excuse is "i cannot organize you 4 together because some of go play cards and that just doesnt work"

Why do my friends play cards instead of playing badminton?

The organizer is stereotype and injustice and takes away human rights from young teenagers. He claims that they are playing cards so he doesn't put them on a game for 1-2 matches in a row so that is the reason why play cards.
WHY
A boy often gets 2-3 matches in a row. FAIR?
Well of course it is. His mum or dad constantly stays there for 3hrs, so its like peer pressure. That is his special privileges.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not worse enough to convince you DTBA is crap? Well more to come!

Well every year you must pay for $12 dollars membership fee in order to play. With juniors they pay this till end of year, the organizer told SOME particular individuals that they have to pay $8 dollars to play.

Instead of Paying $8 to pay for membership from July to December
http://dtba.info/membership/membership.htmThe organizer says the following to the particular individual "Our membership is full now so you have to pay $8.00 dollars to play"
For those that don't know juniors membership has never been full at all how can they support they're point and how do I?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
They can make up about they're junior membership is full but in 2007 there was featuring a full house of 60+ juniors joining, in late July i was able to join as i got rejected for them saying it is full. When i first arrived the place was empty there were only 40 people or so playing.
They claiming that membership full is nonsense it is just they want to gain more money for their own club's benefit.

Do the math's for me please if a person joins and plays for 21 Weeks and pays $12 on the first day and $4 on the continue to play for the following 21 weeks they would have to pay for how much?

21*4+12=$96
or they pay for $8 for the next 21 weeks?

21*8= $168

This is $72 dollar difference how many dozens of shuttlecocks can you buy? OR should i say How many plastic shuttlecocks can you buy and almost last for 2 months? and they use Elipson Plastic Shuttlecock.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

A major issue is the ratio of Adult session to Junior session is unbalanced 1:6 Juniors ONLY get 1 out of 7 and Adults get 6 out 7
DTBA should be able to organize weekend sessions for juniors since they're is no school on weekends.

Maybe your Over 18 so this juniors stuff doesn't concern very much but what if there is more to come?

Well your over 18 you can come join the adult membership and play 6/7 NOT HA!--------------------------------------------------------------------
Why? Well this the time i will be talking about the Club, the Club is run by a bunch of selfish committee. Why would i say such thing about them?
Well its like the medieval age if you ain't got connection they ain't letting you in.
I have 2 friends who live near the club who would like to join but they both got rejected, they ask to join the club in the start of the year. But over the last few weeks a numerous of young men was allowed to join the club.
Curious Why? Well because they have connections with a person who is an Open Level Grade player and is young and fit who has the potential to win competitions for the club.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
SO WHAT IF YOUR IN?

Current members of DTBA are complaining about the people that come to play. The plaintiff are average moderate player for 40+ years old. They complain about weak players coming and interrupting their games.

They request the organizer of the day to organize strong players to play with them but the organizer said "No i can't, its too hard for me because you said you want to go with Player A but Player A wants a rest, how bout go with Player B(Who is a weak player that the plaintiff do want to partner up with)?"

In this situation it is hard for the organizer to do but there are solutions. Is to tell the "weak players" to play some other day. Is it that hard?
Think about it Adults gets 6 sessions out of 7 where juniors get 1 session out of 7
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well it would be hard to define "weak players" to start with and you just can't tell the "weak players" to leave. Another issue is not only "weak players" coming when strong players come but over crowding causing huge commotion about over crowding and not enough matches to be played.

So the solution to that should be the club should have a system where each individual notifies (using some sort of survey) to determine which player should come at specific day of the week.

Do the colors make a difference?

I ask because it was recently brought to my attention that the new Ashaway ZyMax strings perform much better in White or Optic Yellow, as compared to the Platinum/Silver color, which does not perform as well compared to its brighter counterparts.

So my question is, is BG66 affected in the same way as well?

And yes I did a search and all I got were lists of colors.

hi, since Victor is sponsoring Korean Team, the popularity of this brand is shooting up everywhere...Good racquets such as SW series and Brave Sword
series is widely seek by badminton lover...anyway i did a small research in KL
mainly PC, AJ and Hock Eng...

Pertama Complex- Too bad PC only carries wide selection of Yonex products, with some Li Ning, Apacs and Wilson racquets and no Victor products at all

Hock Eng- Limited range, only one roll of Victor racquets..I asked the salesperson there, and he say they sell limited range...popular range such as SW 32 and SW35 and BS 08, BS09 is not available during that time...

AJ- so far i think they have quite complete range of Victor racquets, shoes, shirts and bags....the price is quite ok...

anyway would like to know if anyone knows any other place that sell complete range of Victor brand in Malaysia....:D:D:D
