For example; rackets, bags, clothing, shuttlecock etc.
Ofcourse some of the "big" ones are Yonex, Victor, Carlton, FZ Forza, Head, Babolat, Li Ning, Karakal. But I am trying to make this list as complete as possible, so also with smaller brands.

So heres the question.

I recently bought a racquet from someone i know that's very knowledgeable in terms of badminton racquet. He recommended me VT-80, but what he has was a JP and a IP version. He told me that IP is a bit more head heavy which is very powerful for me as i'm a big guy who can smash relatively hard. He was telling me that IP is rare, and very valuable and will definitely raise the level of my game as I used armortec 900p before. I did notice some weight difference between my racquet and other regular VT80. We'll he charged me at a bit i thought was a bit pricey, (well im not really sure whats the true value of this racquet) but i trusted him as a friend, and i have his contact etc.

So my question to you guys is:
1.) Is what he said about IP code VT 80 true?
2.) I've been starting to get shoulder joint pain from using this racquet? How can i better adjust to it?

In general what do you guys think?

Hey guys,

As the title states, I just snapped one of my Arc 10's and am curious about the Li-ning hype. I live in Canada and have witnessed their surge on to the scene. Does anyone have any recommendations on which Li-ning racquet would be comparable to the Arc 10? Judging from looking at the two companies charts, the N50II seems to be in the same chart range but it does come with a medium shaft which I probably won't like.

I've always considered myself an all around player which is why I've continued to stick with the Arc 10. I had the Z-Slash for a while and found I could smash slightly faster but my net game suffered so I would always find myself going back to my Arc 10.

Any comments or suggestions would be much appreciated guys:)

Brandon

Here is the question: "Are racket choices really THAT important??"

Really, I think technique is more important than the racket choice... With the right techniques, any racket would perform well (even those steel and weight training rackets, but of course you do not want to use them at a tournament lol)... Of course this would apply to mostly high-intermediates and advance/pros as most lower tiered players still lack the proper technique in swing, footwork and wrist strength...

I have seen people in my local clubs where he/she (mostly male though) would have a bag full of high end rackets, from different series and different models... When it comes to actually playing, it is not that impressive, then the person would take a timeout before the next set to switch to a different racket... It is almost seem that the person rely on the racket to do the work...

Some of the recent criticized rackets are NanoRay series... From my search on the forums and internet, it seems that most people dislike this series. Could this be the fact that the racket is hard for general players to wield that gets all the hate? Or could it just be a poorly designed racket?(probably not or else pros would not use these rackets at a risky international tournament.)

I have yet to own a NanoRay series racket, but recently I gathered enough money to replace my cracked APACS Slayer 99... Originally I was going to go for a VT-80 to compliment my VT-ZF, but now I decided to get a NanoRay 700RP or an NanoRay 800...

My question is Why all the Hate on those NanoRay rackets?

Are they really that "Hard" to use?

Hello Badmintoncentral,
I am aware that there are already threads about the colours that badmintin strings come in, but I feel that the results are inconsistent because there are apparently strings in certain colours that are genuine, although there is no real way of telling (I think) as I could not find any official Yonex information.

Back on the topic at hand, my local stringer has black BG 80 strings, and I was wondering if they are genuine. I don't think he is dishonest, but i just can't find much about them online.

Over the past few decades, badminton racquets (along with tennis, squash racquets and many other sports equipment) have become very high-tech with respect to the materials used in manufacture. Lighter, thinner, tougher, more powerful, more responsive... these are just some of the mantras being used by the manufacturers and their spin doctors.

So, what about spaceship earth? Once we're done playing with a racquet or it's broken or whatever, how do we dispose of this unwanted piece of graphite, or CNT or nanocarbon, or whatever, without degrading the environment we share with millions of other living species?

Are any of the manufacturers considering introducing equipment that incldues a significant amount of biodegradable or "green" material in their final product? And how will this affect the performance of the product?

If you had a choice of using a "greener" racquet that gave you the same performance/experience but had to pay say, 50% more for appeasing your social conscience as a citizen of planet Earth, what would you do?

As some of you know I've been collecting yonex badminton racquets for some time now and have amassed a bit of a collection. This is my latest purchase which I've never seen before so thought I'd share it and see if you guys have seen it before. It's not in immaculate condition but its pretty good for the age.

First thing I noticed with this racquet is how slim the shaft is. It's the thinnest of any badminton racquet I've seen. With digital calipers it measures 6.08mm in diameter! Just for comparison, I've posted a photo of it against one of the thinnest around - the Z-Slash (which measures 7.1mm in diameter).

Enjoy! :)
