A Sad End In yesterday's match against the newbie Chinese pair (Guo Zhendong & Xu Chen), the Korean game was a wreck. Clearly, Lee Yong Dae was the weakest player in the match. Where Jung Jae Sung was sharp and deadly (on the few occasions that he was afforded a good lift), Yong Dae seemed unprepared and lost. In fact, as soon as Zhang Jun noticed the lengthening string of errors from Lee Yong Dae, he had his players direct almost every attack at Yong Dae. And it worked. The closing moments were especially bad for Lee Yong Dae. He wasted a net-tap, failed to attack two consecutive half-court lifts, tried to intercept a crosscourt lift that his partner could have killed and, in short, squandered the winning lead the Koreans had. Jung Jae Sung made no secret of his frustration. As soon as the handshakes were exchanged, he and the senior coach walked off without waiting for Lee Yong Dae. As for Ha Tae Kwon, the crowd will remember his loud rant for a long time.
Aaaaaw Maybe it's just not his day. This happens to everyone. Narnia, Yong Dae is alone. He looks sad. He needs company. Why don't you cheer him up?
That was quite uncommon as our resident KOR fan here proclaimed that "the KOR duo are fast learners of their opponents' tactics. They are the best in Badminton Basics and Strategical Management of Games". Looks like being the BEST in badminton basics and the strategic management of games had backfired big time yesterday night and the BEST pair in the World today could not avoid the straight-sets defeat
this shows that they can't overcome the pressure and can't finish off the game although they BEST pair in the World today nobody's perfect in this world
Off topic-Not really a newbie CHN pair.. ..actually Guo Zhendong & Xu Chen are not a newbie pair. They've actually been paired before, on and off, since 2004. They've recently been paired back & playing together again since the end of 2008. JJS & LYD haven't been sharp as of late. *Thanks anyway for the brief recap of their match.
That's the weakest point about LYD. Next time, he will not allow them to attack like today. That's the way he always did. As LYD plays in two categories, he's controlling his stamina to play for a full week. That's one of the reasons of such results. Actually, CHN capitalizes on that weakness very tactically in recent tournaments. Anyway, off the topic, LYD should reduce his activities outside camp in Korea. He's so popular and busy to be called here and there.
Ic..ic...strangely though, we did not see such excuses being given when the KOR duo was in their DOMINATING form eh? Oh...and Xu Chen too was playing in XD earlier yesterday
in other words...they lost a shade of their dominating edge But the same goes for Kido/Hendra as well...sigh....with Kido's never-fully-recovered knee They nearly lost to the GER pair yesterday.
Nevertheless, I guess they're gonna make something in this tourney. Kido is such a guy! For quite a long time, they're hunger for the champion and they need some "mental" practice before INA Open. They will.
Jjs & Lyd.. ..how do i describe it, they're just not sharp, for some reason. Or maybe the CHN pair simply learned something from how Cai Yun & FHF won over the KOR pair in the recent Sudirman Cup. With the way Oldhand described what he saw, it sounded like LYD was trying to do a bit too much out there by himself. Maybe thinking that he's playing XD with LHJ covering him.
^^And yet..^^ ..there are 390+ replies (and counting) and over 15,000+ views (and counting) to this thread..
But... It's nothing compared with KKK& TBH -Going Downhill thread. There are 1070+ replies (so far) and over 54000+ views (so far). And with their latest result, one post is more than enough to trigger more replies & views.
^^Do you know..^^ ..the percentage or portion of M'sian BCers in this forum??..I'll give you a clue, it's more than 20x than those of Korean BCers.. Btw, you forgot to count in the "KKK & TBH on the trail back" thread..
This pair does not need to learn the mental thing...they have proved it b y winning OG and WC.....it seems that Hendra needs to cover Kido more than before....
"...he will not allow them to attack..."? Um, Men's Doubles today is hardly a 'permission' game. Lee Yong Dae's game is now one of the more predictable ones on court... and perhaps this stagnation has a lot to do with his packed off-court schedule. From a style that almost every opponent knows inside out, he needs to move to a fluid, changing, adaptable game (like the great Kim Dong-Moon). The Danish pair's domination over the main Korean pair should have been a wake-up call to the Korean side.... but, it seems, no one has yet woken up. And now, the Danes are eating every Korean pair in sight. You also make it sound as if Lee Yong Dae is the only player on the current circuit who competes in multiple categories. Er, that's hardly the case
Well said boss.....but u will see that our resident KOR fan will still think that the BEST MD pair in the World still DOMINATES over the other pairs (including DEN). Even INA fans cannot say that our World No 1, the World and Olympic Champions is the dominating pair in the World, given the fact that there are just so many good pairs around and it's tough to rule for a long period of time. We are just glad they won the 2 biggies and they will probably be split anyway given Kido's injury, which have yet to heal even until now.
Plus, they have won the Badminton Asian Championships this year, beating a KOR pair in the final in Korea So, at least, they have won a title.
