Hmmm think I read a few pages back promises of pictures. Now that it's here and ready to rock lets display this bad boy. Prototype picture aside let's see the real deal. What weights and bp are available ? merci
I got a chance to demo all 3 Panda Power racquets, the Trinity, Ultra, and Ultra 2 this past weekend during the UC Davis Open (thanks to IllusionistPro) and I have to say all 3 are awesome. I like them all, but I prefer the Ultra over the other 2, though the Trinity is a very good all around racket, and the Ultra 2 is easier to use than the Ultra, but neither gave me that instant "now THIS is a racket" feeling like the original Ultra did. FYI, I like even balanced 2U/heavy 3Us, so YMMV
Just got my Ultras... I must say the Ultra 2 is looking very sexy, Ultra 1 looks also quite good(yellow and black)... I did notice the Ultra 1 being thicker than the ultra 2(frame and shaft) and yes, it is EXTREMELY stiff....
what should it doooo i want panda to lend me his power , (im used to stiff raquet, apacs lethal 60, apacs nanopro 9900) i had my heart set on trinity but maybe ultra is good too wo witch on its gonna be ultra 2 is supposed to be a ultra 1 but in better no but from what "singnflip4life" said its not really the same. (i would like to try em before i buy em, but from where i am i doubt its really possible (montreal qc , ca)*and im a beginner too *
Permichinon, don't take what I said the wrong way. All three rackets are very good rackets. The ultra 2 is a slightly toned down version of the ultra one, but just because I love how the ultra one feels, does not mean I can wield it to it's maximum potential. My current racket is a 50 dollar Carbonex 8600Ti, a racket I know I can get the full potential out of. Now I'm using a Zelm PowerPlay 9900 to strengthen my arm. Then I might move onto a Woven 7. And then, maybe, just maybe, I can start to draw out the beast that lies within the original Ultra. Unfortunately however, as ryoma echison would say, "I've still got a long ways to go" so try to find someone in your area who has bought a Panda Power racket. I'm sure there's at least one. The forums can help with this, so try first. Or just buy an original ultra, and if you don't like, hold on to it for me for a few years
Can I ask, how does using the Zelm PP9900 strengthen your arm? I'm planning on getting the Zelm 10000 when it comes. Cheers
Nice post and exactly right. The best example of this is, Panda was testing the two different Ultras (both 88.0g, BP290) with Halim Haryanto Ho and Halim loved the feel and play of the Ultra 1 over the Ultra 2... ...but then Panda said... ..."Halim, yes, the Ultra 1 feels better, but which one would you play with consistently in a professional match?" Halim immediately said, "Ohhhh, of course the Ultra 2. Ultra 1 too tiring." So you see, what we like and what we can handle, it's all relative.
Nothing currently. They are still working on perfecting it. I'm also looking into electroplating...I have samples coming soon.
Well the Zelm PP9900 is a heavy 3U that is quite head heavy. The thing is quite heavy to swing around compared to MP99 and Cab8600Ti. So the power and strength required is much higher. So playing with it a lot means building muscle and strength. Since I'm a very wristy player, it really helps IMO. I notice that after every session with my Zelm, I can clear higher and farther with my MP99. The Woven 7 is supposedly 92g-ish, and I don't know about the balance, but it was definately heavier feeling than my Zelm. And I loved how it felt. Then when I can swing the woven no problem, maybe then I can ferret out an original Ultra (in maybe 2 or 3 years, barring injury [knock on wood]). Anyone who can successfully wield the original Ultra at a competitve level for multiple matches is a god.
It's possible but your transition speed will suffer. When I use a U1 now, I go lighter, 86.5g to 87.0g, BP 287-288 and it's fine. But at higher weights and BP, it's tough to defend and transition consistently...and the opponents know it.
Great I'm looking forward to something matte black too, that would be cool. I have been impressed by the colour schemes so far, particularly the black/yellow.
Haha I was thinking of someone who was quick and strong enough to use a high bp and wt ultra1 at a high level. That would be simply amazing.
A quick panda?! where ?! I think that's an oxymoron. I recall panda saying he smashes and lets his partner clean up if anything comes back.
I'm using a Trinity and there's a U2 coming soon. I'm living in Sherbrooke. Tell me if it may help. My trinity will be strung by next wednesday, the strings snapped yesterday. It's a great racket, I like it.
