LD is a proven and safer bet. CL is a wild card playing the Joker thing. CJ is certainly the spoiler or nail in the coffin for LCW. ;)

It was commentated by GC, that in 2011 up to the 2011 Yonex French Badminton Open Tournament, Lin Dan withdrew 6 times from his matches out of 11 tournaments he played in.
Chen Long, however, benefitted from 7 withdrawals by his compatriots and others from Round 2 to the SF stage and he went on to win 2 of the tournaments from the 'gifted' withdrwals and they are the Japan and Denmark Opens
Rashid Sidek was especially bewildered by the latest YFBO withdrawal by WZM which clearly was to unseat LCW which thankfully failed.

Chen Jin is not playing the joker. He is a joker.

Chen Jin is certainly nail in the coffin for LCW? I think you are also a joker.

If LD is a safe bet, why is he hiding? I wonder how many times LD can hide away. His withdrawal is insane and an insult to the sport and fans around the world.

You hit the nail on the head with your comment that LD is hiding.
He could have beaten KT in the SF match of the 2011 Yonex French Badminton Open with 1 game up and 3 points from victory in the 2nd game. However, the hard-fought games (23-21, 18-15) must have taken its toll and he was probably too tired to face LCW in the final and get thrashed.

    Yes. Spot on.

In sport, everyone win some and loss some. Players as good as LD and LCW are no exception. If LD lost to KT , LCW or any other players, I will still applause his effort. It doesnt matter. Winning and losing is part of sport. But when one regularly throws away the match, one deserves the whip. Fans in france are not happy about it. How much it cost to get a sit in the stadium?

Besides, it is about courage, professionalism and sportsmanship. Lin Dan has no courage, no professionalism and no sportsmanship.

Yes. He is a pretty face. He posed as a ferrari driver and the girls love it.

Yes. He has spiky hair and he appears in many advertisements and someone gave him big buck.

But the truth remains-----------he has no courage, no professionalism and no sportsmanship.

It is a pity that towards the end of his career he is making a fool out of himself. He could be remembered as a closed to perfect badminton player in the era of modern badminton. He is such an excellent player and look at what he has achieved so far!

    What a pity!

The above post is an accurate description of LD at the moment, I think.

This might be an accurate description for his actions at the moment perhaps, but I sense some bias too. But keep in mind that he's under the control of CBA as well; so your comment can apply to all other Chinese players.

Think about it this way. LD is owned by the CBA. When things are going well, CBA takes the credit. When there are problems, the player takes the fall. Even if LD wanted to complete the match, he probably couldn't as the CBA would have come down very hard on him. Plus the CBA has kept all his winnings and has him by the balls for who knows what else. Until LD completes his "contract" with the CBA, I don't think it would be very safe to cross them.

You know what I find funny about the whole LD throwing games issue? no matter what the Malaysian fans say about how bad LD is he still beats LCW pretty much most of the time and the head to head is way in his favour.

I don't know how he even manages to be so good if he never plays and keeps his match fitness but he does.
You guys can keep hating on LD all you want and he probably will continue beating LCW so good luck with that guys.

I thought LD is not a toddler anymore, unfortunately I'm wrong. LD is still a baby, need to be told by CBA what to do. So the arguably greatest player China had ever produce is, guess what? A BABY.

LD might follow what CBA asked him to do, simply because, CBA wants him to defend Olympic Men Single Gold Medal at London 2012 which is in line with LD desires. Additionally, LD retreat on several tournaments will give chance to CL or CJ to face LCW, which is necessary to shape them up in order to continue CBA domination in Men Singles. Although the side effect of the withdrawal is very clear which caused LD to be called an athlete with no sportmanship in badminton.

LD is a grown-up person, and is eventually like everyone else, responsible for his actions. But the situation cannot be so neatly packaged and presented. It is far more complex. I think we all at some level, appreciate that.

A player like LD is subject to many different force vectors in his professional life. The vectors are formed early in childood, and the inculcation of values are very thorough. Sometimes, these values may not necessarily have the same priority level as those that many of us in the "free world" know. But rather than pass judgement on those values, (the "free world" is far less than perfect!) we should focus on the framework of reference.

A pro player takes pride in his achievements. He does not want to walk away from an engagement or a challenge if he can help it. The kind of pressure and various mental/psychological/financial vectors that come into play to force such a person into a contrary course of action... you need to ask yourself what you would do if you were is such a situation.

LD, and many others like him, are the symptom of the real issues. They are pawns in the game.

It takes a person with an exceptional strength of character and rounded emotional development to fight the system openly. I can't really blame LD if he is not one; I just have to face the fact and move on. For all I know, maybe he does try to fight the system on the inside or influence it. As we know, the results take a long time coming.

Corruption; mismanagement; factionalism; misplaced values. These are to be found in abundance in associations of other countries as well. And truthfully: if LD is a baby, what the hell is LCW? At least LD can take refuge in the fact that he belongs to a strict socialist/communist system and has to slot into the hierarchy. LCW comes from a democratic country, is a superstar, can make markets rise and fall; and he doesn't have the spine to stand by his own convictions. Taufik for all his shortcomings, didn't compromise on his beliefs.

All idols have feet of clay. Because humans make the idols from the earth.

Oh Boy! No ego. Namo Amithaba! I have got my ego bruised before. I have had eggs on my face before. I have lived long enough to be mindful of my ego. Namo Amithaba. No ego.:)

But I admit I have anger. I feel very upset when I see LD( and CBA) consistently throws in the matches to help push up his countryman CL seeding. LD and CBA have no concept of level playing field and sportsmanship. A lot of fans feel upset. You can not blame fans around the world for being upset.

Fans like me take the trouble and time to voice out in this forum for the love of the sport. Fans like me do not do this to invite a verbal spar. I do this because i think I can make a little contribution to the sport.

Lets face it. LD and CBA can get away from punishment from BWF because BWF is lame. But they can not escape condemn from fans that love this sport.

I mean come on. You expect fans to keep quite after seeing this happen again and again?
