MX80 is definitely stiffer compared to either Arc10 or Arc11, it is by far the stiffest racket I have tried... Never tried the Forza FZ-550 which is claimed to be super stiff. Balance wise, should be head heavy though I tried one 4u sample which has a close BP to my 3u Arc10. However, the MX80 3u I've had before, has a close BP to my 3u VT80. To be frank, I can't really play with MX80 even though I know it is one of the best racket in the market at this moment. My wrist, elbow and shoulder are just not strong enough to absorb the massive vibration produced by its "extra-stiff" shaft.
Been playing with 3U MX80 (apparently 87g according to Eric from RKEP) for a couple of sessions (doubles) with BG66UM string at 27 pounds. Excellent racket. Didn't take much adjusting from my 3U and 4U Voltric Z-force rackets. No issues with arm pain for me at all, and it's certainly not too stiff for me. Smashing power is comparable with the Z-force with the right technique. Defense is basically as good. This is my first Victor racket and I am quite impressed.
Had a go of the MX80 when a friend of mine can't cope with the frame stiffness. Been a vtzf@4U/G5@BG66UM-27lbs user for almost a year, it took me a few hours to adjust to the frame quickness. Been almost 3 weeks now, and how much do I like it? I would say this much.. ( [MENTION=61591]Squash Eric[/MENTION] rocks again ) The stiffness and the awesome touchy feely feedback of the shuttle that this racket gives me is remarkable. Accuracy is admirable, and with the quickness of the racket head, it opens up a lot more angles and shot options for me. Yes I do miss the power that comes from the vtzf, but at the place and level where I play, powerful smash is not the 'end all be all' solution to win a game, so MX80 provides the best compromise of 'just enough' power to make a kill with the added benefits of extra accuracy and speed for high speed drive battles.
Just an update on the MX80 - it's now my "go to" racket for when I'm tired. Again, absolutely no issues with the wrist/elbow/shoulder like so many people are posting about. I think perhaps there are 90 people with no problems (and therefore not posting) for every 10 people who post about wrist/elbow/shoulder pain when using this racket. I am still finding I can smash at least as fast with this racket as with the 3U Z-Force. Seriously, we need to stop feeding people false information like "the more head heavy, the more power". When you're swinging an object that's around 100g or less, the characteristics of the racket become almost negligible particularly if you use a consistent and (mostly correct) technique. I believe this is why we're seeing people like Ahsan producing 260km/H+ smashes with 5U/6U rackets (Ratchanok producing 220km/H+ smashes on the women's side) and players wielding light and even balanced rackets (eg. Bravesword 12) like Tontowi producing 270km/H+ thundering smashes. Sure, many will speculate that they are using a different "spec", but I would not be surprised if they're not.
Hi guys, I just got mx 80 racket. I can feel the power from the racket that was strung with vs850 at 25 lbs but I can't seems to control my shots. As such, I am wondering what string should I get for control and power?
VS-850 is a control string by nature rather than a power string. But bear in mind that is does lose tension very quickly. Generally loses about 2lbs in the first couple of days after stringing before it settles down. You might want to try stringing it higher next time perhaps as I use the MX80 with 850 as well but my strung tension is 28x30lbs. But my normal tension using a similar string like BG 80 is actually 26x28lbs.
Hey ch1k0, nice to see you in this thread. You replied to my question in the lyd thread about paint work! The racket is a 2nd hand from a seller in BC so I believed that his string tension should be long gone. Presently, my stringer only has yonex and gosen strings with him so I am getting them to string BG 80. He advised me to string it at 25 lbs so when the string will be 24lbs when it settled in nicely.
That should work just fine haha. Just bear in mind the BG80 is hard and the MX 80 is really lively as well so be prepared for quite a bit of feedback
