Can you buy a diablo for a crank machine? I'm sure I saw one on a Gamma machine but not seen it as an add on. Anyone?
Could you not get the WISE diabolo and Blue Peter it onto your crank? Only ever seen the diabolo/crank combo on Gammas and Toalsons (which, come to think of it, are Gammas with Toalson stickers on them).
it really depends on the machine you have. diablos are usually tailored to the mounting on the particular machine. or you can DIY it. and for the Gamma. the diablo for the Gamma are pretty pointless. not only are they metal, and thus slippery, they are also rotatable, both of which defeat the purpose of having a diablo in the first place.
My uncle is a steel fabricator so I may ask him to make one. The diablo mustn't rotate and it has to be grippy then?
It can't rotate on its axis, certainly, but the finish shouldn't be too grippy - you want some load on the gripper plates. A lot of machines have chrome-plated diabolo's, so whatever it's doing, the diabolo can be smooth. I like to go around mine twice - you get "self-friction" on a good 2-3 inches of string.
