It looked a little close for my liking-- HKV seems to be off his best; I guessing HKV hasn't been ramping for the Olympics since Denmark will probably be sending JOJ & VA. But for better or worse, the reason Nice Guys like HKV (& Chen Long) get fielded in team competitions is that they don't give themselves undue pressure.
Hans has posted on facebook that they are sending Axelsen and Jan O, though he said it is not official yet. He also mentioned he was invited to do commentary for Danish fans and so he is happy that he gets to visit Rio. https://www.facebook.com/hanskristianvittinghus/posts/10154000754786206:0 I am not sure about the authenticity of the facebook page though
What was it that Steen Pedersen said to Gill Clark about Morten Frost? For a long while Morten Frost was only international player of note from Denmark-- but after he relocated to London, Denmark suddenly found a new batch of promising players. So when you have indomitable talents Lin Dan and Fu Haifeng/Cai Yun, it's easy overlook (the need for) fresh/new talent-- not to mention that, talents sometimes do come in droves. So what you should say is that China did really well during the Beijing Olympics, and continued to reap the benefits during the London Olympic cycle, but might be forced to pay for it during the Rio Olympics.
I wish JOJ a speedy recovery from his injury yesterday, but shouldn't HKV keep himself in shape as a reserve? I also wish HKV a good second career in sports commentary if that's what he wants. CCTV5's commentary are really worth listening because of guest appearances of ex-players and coaches-to-be like Cai Yun-- he sounds so calm and collected, but gets more excited by the game AND reacts faster to shots played than the TV host! Trying to do a play-by-play commentary on badminton (i.e. calling out the shots/moves like in a kungfu movie) really takes some "skill" since the game is so fast-- regular commentators like Gill Clark really only do their commentary after a point is taken.
I am sure he is, at least until they send the list officially. I didn't watch the match, so I can't say how he performed, but he did seem to react positively to his fans whenever they cheered for him and delivered!
What an unbelievably bad scheduling. What is going on in Kunshan. First they schedule a boring UC match between CHN and TPE on TV Court2 instead of TC INA vs HKG or TC DEN vs JPN. Then KOR beats CHN TC finishes @ 12:00 AM and KOR TC is scheduled to play again @ 1:00 PM thats ridiculous. Moreover CHN UC plays @1:00 PM whilst UC JPN vs KOR plays @7:00 PM giving the winner much less preparation than (The winner of) CHN (vs IND). Thats just plain insane scheduling.
The Chinese fans were cheering for Denmark to avenge China's loss to Japan 2 years ago... That and because LD steam-rolling LDK on Court 1 is not as riveting, as LD already took things down a notch after 11-2 in the first game--Even the CCTV5 commentators got distracted by the Danish bench shouting "Denmark" and the crowd shouting "Jia You!"
You can call the shots the next time you shell out the money and host the Thomas & Uber Cups-- I thot I wd only c self-entitled newb comments like urs on youtube....
Indonesia's young team achievement in the last one year : - Gold medal SEA Games 2015 (bt Malaysia in SF and Thailand in Final) - Gold medal of Asia Team Championship (bt Japan full team with Momota in Final) I hope it's the time to upgrade the achievement to Thomas Cup 2016 champion. #TeamIndonesia
FANTASTIC performance by Korea! What a grit, what a determination ! These first two long grueling +1h30 matches were some of the best matches of the year thus far !! Congratulations! Son Wan Ho was absolutely superb, very calm very composed despite obvious tiredness and his usual lack of stamina. LYD/YYS showed their brillance as usual. Amazing wins really! Not surprised by the narrow defeat of Japan Thomas cup, Though Richii would be able to close it but Vittinghus was unforgiving ! What an exciting Quarter Final it has been !
No it's not about revenge of TC at all. It's political reason...I'd better not bring up any political discussion here but there's no way Chinese audience cheer for Japanese players, and there might be an exception. Fukuhara Ai, the table tennis player.
I doubt it. It's not political. Korea and Japan are Chinese's major rivals in many sports like basketball, soccer, .... Do you expect Stanford students cheer for Cal Berekley when Cal plays Duke in basketball?
yes. first time ever before this edition, china always qualify to SF since 1982 4 years ago, Ina team lost in QF for the first time since 1958
