In fact there was also the best Polish pair Milosz Bochat & Adam Cwalina seeded in MD #1 but unfortunately they have withdrawn. This Polish pair is relatively strong. For example this combination (the older, Cwalina, was playing earlier with Michal Logosz, then with Przemyslaw Wacha; Bochat is much younger, not so experienced) defeated this year Lu Ching Yao & Yang Po Han (TPI). So the favorite is now probably a German pair. It is not a big tournament so you cannot find top players. In MS, WD and XD I see some players from India. Also some young Danish and English players will participate.
This is not the biggest tournament in Poland. In March 2017 in Polish capital city Warsaw was Yonex Polish Open (International Challenge, 20,000 US#) with the results in single finals: Tan Jia Wei (Malaysia) — Ygor Coelho (Brazil) 21-13 20-22 21-10 and Yui Hashimoto (Japan) — Lee Ying Ying (Malaysia) 13-21 21-19 21-10. Bierun is not a big city and not the strongest centre of badminton in Poland but with a quite good badminton tradition. In 2015 Bierun also organized Polish International and in the MS final Iskandar Zulkarnain Zainuddin defeated Anders Antonsen.

This is European circuit, mostly the European countries will join. If you looking at Uganda International Series/Cameroon International, you will see Mauritius, Cameroon, Jordan, Egypt, Zambia joining that tournament. They will join the tournament suitable for their players. Once they have a great talent player, we may find them compete in higher level tournament as well.

Did Poland also participate in the previous Sudirman Cup? I know that many countries did not participate/withdrew from this year event due to distance and cost, really hope the event to get back to Europe though to ignite more sparks again here. Last time Poland participated in the Sudirman Cup in 2011 (finished 19th). The best result was in 2007 (11th) when the Polish team won in Division Two vs Russia 4:1, vs Netherlands 3:2. In the deciding tie in the subgroup Poland was leading 2:0 vs Japan but lost 2:3. Japan defeated after that Singapore 3:2 and was promoted to Division One. Poland defeated Chinese Taipei 3:2 and finished 11th.
