They both have that nervous energy on court...

I agree. But that's exactly why I think that'll be her role going forwards too. Look at Kim SY; how many players has she raised to the top level? But still no sign of her in the A team.

Choi Sol Gyu was injured in his qualifying match at the Korea Open. He has been entered in the Korea Masters GPG but he has played neither international nor domestic events since the Korea Open.

Kim Ha Na will play XD I think (featuring only in Sudirman Cup/Asia Mixed Team Championships).

Within Lee So Hee/Shin Seung Chan and Jung Kyung Eun/Chang Ye Na as the established partnerships, Korea choose Kim Hye Rin and Chae Yoo Jung as their backup doubles players.

Kim Ha Na didn't join previous Korea team at Badminton Asia Team Championships 2016 and Uber Cup 2016 either.
Last time Kim Ha Na as a part of Women's Team Korea were at 2012 Uber Cup, 2014 Asia Team Championships and 2014 Uber Cup.

Unforgettable moment for Korea Team in 2017 :

Korea upset China to win fourth Sudirman Cup title

A Sung Ji Hyun-inspired South Korea pulled off a shock win over China to lift their first BWF Sudirman Cup title in 14 years – ending their opponents run of six consecutive victories.

Not since 2003 have China been defeated in the final, and, perhaps more remarkably, have not lost a single finals match at the Championships since that date.

But that was to all change on Sunday as Korea landed their fourth Sudirman Cup title on Australia’s Gold Coast, thanks to dominant displays in the doubles.

It was ten-time champions China, however, who took the early advantage, as Fu Haifeng and Zhang Nan eased to a 21-14 21-15 win over Choi Solgyu and Seo Seung Jae in the men’s doubles.

The Koreans soon restored parity through Sung, who downed He Bingjiao 21-12 21-16, but China were soon back ahead through two-time YONEX All England champion Chen Long, who made short work of his men’s singles tie with Jeon Hyeok Jin to win in straight games.

Going behind for a second time marked a turning point in the match for Korea, and it wasn’t long before they were back level with their opponents.

In the longest game of the final, 2017 YONEX All England victors Chang Ye Na and Lee So Hee recorded a 21-19 21-13 win over Chen Qingchen and Jia Yifan to send the final in a dramatic mixed doubles decider.

There it was Korea’s Chae Yoo Jung and Choi – one of the youngest partnerships in the entire tournament at 22 and 21 respectively – who stepped up to the occasion, defeating Huang Yaqiong and Lu Kai 21-17 21-13 to secure the title as their teammates stormed the court in celebration.

This is a miracle,” said head coach Kang Kyung Jin. “Perhaps we will get more attention and more funding now."

This can be a turning point for Korean badminton.

An Se Young named to Korean national team at 15
    Posted on December 28, 2017 | 2 Comments
15-year-old An Se Young became one of the youngest players ever named to the Korean national badminton team after an unbeaten run at the team try-outs this week. Photos: Badmintonphoto […]

Announcements were made on Korean badminton sites as well, with slightly different photos in Badminton Times, Badminton Korea, and Wolgan Badminton. All photos but An's are now up on the list on the BKA website, too.

You'd think they'd all be wearing the national sponsorwear for their BKA photos, but they're all wearing something different.
Sung JiHyun's wearing her school uniform, so I don't even know how old that picture is ...

That isn't a school uniform. As you can see from the similarity to Lee Jang Mi's outfit, it is something the team members wore for a function at their pro team, MG Saemaeul. As Kim Hye Jeong is not wearing the same thing, though, we can assume that those photos date back to before Kim joined the team. All the Samsung players have the same vintage of photo, too, though again, they are obviously from before Kim Ga Eun and Jung Jae Wook joined. Jung Kyung Eun's is from when she was at KGC and that's why she is dressed the same as Lee Min Ji.

She beats Ikhsan Rumbay as youngest to join the national team. She is about to enter HS and Ikhsan is still in final year of HS.

You missed Stephani Widjaja (born in 2003), 3 years younger than Ikhsan Rumbay.

Korean Team Head Coach is still Kang Kyung Jin (강 경 진).

Korea TC team has no chance against the big CHN, and Denmark. Their Uber cup team has a slight chance if SJH can lead the way. Otherwise it would be an uphill battle.

An Se Young's case is certainly no kind of international record. I mean, Mia Audina was winning the deciding match at the Uber Cup when she was 14. An Se Young will not even play in a senior event until after her 16th birthday. Lots of other players - including Saina Nehwal, P. V. Sindhu, Goh Jin Wei, Ratchanok Intanon, and Tai Tzu Ying - have played overseas in senior events at 15 or younger and many of those were already members of their respective national teams.

An's distinction is a very technical one within the Korean system. As the article points out, at least four Korean players played overseas before turning 15 but they all competed as part of junior contingents and were not yet part of the senior national team. News1 says Lee Yong Dae was selected for the national team when he was in middle school but I'm not sure that is correct. The first time he competed in a tournament together with any senior Korean players was the 2004 China Open, near the end of his first year of high school, and his partners were the same as those he had played with a few weeks earlier at the World Juniors.

Anyone know why Seo Seung Jae and Kim Ha Na were split? They were also removed from the world rankings this week.

He's now playing with Chae YuJung. I imagine they'll want Kim HaNa to raise more youngsters (I think currently Choi SolGyu).
