The fact that the Uncles, are still playing top flight badminton means that the young MD champions these days are not in the same calibre with players like Ha-Kim. Lee-Yu, Chandra-Tony-Sigit, Rexy-Ricky or Cheah-Yap because our uncles were no where near those players when they were strating out 10 years ago or even 5 years ago. The Uncles are moving up the ranking to No. 4 and they were at that level some 5 or 6 years ago and were in top 4 on and off.
I kinda agree -- I remember the way Tan Yee Khan and Ng Boon Bee played. KKK-TBH are nowhere near their explosiveness. TYK & NBB used to smash a lot.
I was surprised to learn that kimchi has such excellent properties as being able to ward off cancer or the flu. It appears that during the SARs crisis, while other Asian countries were suffering from SARs, South Korea was immuned. And I was flabbergasted to learn that there are so many varieties of Kimchi and the vegetable-mix of ingredients used really astonishes the eye, with red chllies added in great abundance! They even have a kimchi museum in Korea! I am now looking more forward to tasting this spicy and tasty dish.
hmmm, ok, senior uncle loh, old is old, u know, don't deny it....me, Auntie Cat, too can share abit?????????????????????

They were already in the list from the original poster,. Oh yes, XD & MS : Ah Khim W, Ah Seang, Ah Tseng, Wong Sifu, uncles Roslin & Sairul. That's the ladies section : also Ah Hui, Ah Tty, Ah Lin, Ah Ying, Ah Mooi, Ah Yang, Ah Siah, Ah Haw He he, ok, ok, "very experienced seniors", how about that?
I think there are some confusions here. Baddy players have been referred to as "Uncle" because the life span on professional tour is relatively short. When players are in their 30s, more often than not they have reached or soon will reach the end of road as SS title holders. The "Uncle" definition does not transpose over to the rest of us. Eagle, I hope my suggestion makes you feel better and younger. The honor of BC Uncles should still go to our respectful "senior gentlemen"
On Tan Yee Khan and Ng Boon Bee. I hope some one from that era can open a thread on their playing prowess. I have written that Cheah Soon Kit was one of the players who first started with leaping smash and soft play from the back in the late 80s before it became the standard fare for MD in the 90s. I wanted to write about Tan and Ng but never saw them play plaease open new thread.
Wasn't he ? ! Even though he was short, he could jump and smash - sort of like Markis Kido. And Yee Khan was the enforcer. Todate, I am still waiting for some like them to come along in the Malaysian team.
Hiyaaa, that was what I meant when Oldhand asked why we call CTF/LWW "uncles", they are called "veteran" in the circuit mah. The rest of it was just poking fun, started by Huang. We have full respect for our real life BCers of the "Uncle" age, he he.
